There was a clatter of wood on stone as Shawn Joseph DeBlanc chucked his broom to the ground. Grumpily he sat down on the bottom step in front of the open wooden doors that led into the castle. He was in a mood because he once again was not allowed to play at the Quidditch Practise. He no longer had his Quidditch robes on, he was now wearing his Gryffindor uniform.
Shawn was rarely an angry person, he often keep his emotions bottled in, and only ever moaned to his twin sister, Karen. Despite his very calm demeanor, he sometimes needed to let out a little anger. He loved Quidditch, but he basically sucked at it. He really wasn't very good. So the team rarely let him play, but forced him to come to practises anyway. He'd give it up if he knew his father wouldn't be angry with him for doing that.
Shawn never purposley angered his parents, knowing they all ready got enough torment and disappointment from his sister's rebellious behaviour around them. So instead Shawn had to be the kind, patient, loyal son.
Shawn put his broom back up right and leant back against the wall. He let out a sigh, releasing any anger inside him.

Bindi Elvin wasn't really paying much attention to where she way going. She had a letter in her hand and was reading in, her facial expressions changing every few seconds. Her mother had written to her (not that this was surprising, as Bindi’s mother wrote to her often) to tell her that she had a two-year old step-brother she never knew about. Sure, her mother was expected to have children in her new marriage, but to have a baby for two years and not to tell anyone was…well, Bindi couldn’t explain it. She sighed, stuffing the letter into her bag.
She didn’t realise anyone was leaning against the wall until she tripped over said person’s foot. Tumbling down the stairs, Bindi grabbed the first thing she could to steady herself (which happened to be the little wall). Bindi looked over at the person whose foot she had tripped over, and started to apologize. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t-wasn’t looking where I was going.” She hurriedly said, hoping this person wasn’t angry at her, though he did look a bit frustrated.
She waited for a reaction, unsure if she should introduce herself or wait. The Ravenclaw girl settled on the last option, shuffling her foot on the ground slightly.

Shawn hadn't heard anyone around him, until he felt a sharp pain in his foot. He looked up to find a girl holding herself up with the wall. Quickly, he leapt to his feet, extending an arm towards her to help her steady herself. He, afterall, was one of the only true gentlemen at Hogwarts.
"No I'm sorry," he answered quickly, his accent thick with french, his rs rolling, "It wuz my fault, I shouldeen't 'ave been sitting therre." Unlike his sister, who had discarded her accent, Shawn had kept his french accent strong, and seeing as he spoke more to his sister than anyone else at the school, was more used to french.

Once she had been steadied, Shawn took his arm back and shoved it with the other in his trouser pockets. Shawn was surprised to hear that the girl too was born in France. Other than his twin sister, Karen, he didn't know anyone who was from France, because the French had their own school like Hogwarts, Beauxbatons. Shawn smiled a small smile.
"Really? Et vous, est-ce que vous parlez francais*?" he asked her, his French sounded much better than his English.
"I'm Shawn DeBlanc," he presented, "Grryfeendor."
((*And you, do you speak french? (for your benefit Paige =P)
shortie post))

"Oui, je parle français, et par les regards des choses, vous fais ainsi." Bindi confirmed, finding it easy to reply in French, though her accent wasn't as good as Shawn's, Bindi liked speaking in French, finding it a change to her usual English at home, unless she was visiting her mother.
Bindi noticed out of the corner of her eye a book by her feet. She turned her gaze back to Shawn. “Is that book yours?” She asked, pointing at it. She was curious, and inched towards it, picking it up. ‘The Dark Arts’.
Bindi frowned. She opened the book and flicked through it, but she didn’t find anything worth reading. Suddenly a feeling filled Bindi’s body, it was a warm, comfortable feeling, but slowly her body heat rose, and the feeling burned her. Before she could open her mouth and say something, the feeling stopped, leaving a very confused Bindi with the book in her hand.
Unaware of the sudden bad luck that she now carried around with her. She looked back at Shawn, wondering if he’d felt the same feeling she had, and if he had noticed anything strange.

Bindi nodded. "Yeah, I do. I've never really talked with her, but I've had some classes with her, she seems nice, though some of our Professors don't really ... well, seem to like her that much. Do you know why?" Bindi asked, always wanting to know the reason why Karen wasn't the best student.
Bindi hadn't forgotten about the book, but she was thinking along different lines that Shawn was. Maybe the book would help her in class? Or maybe it would be an intresting read? The normal Bindi wouldn't think this, but something in Bindi's mind had changed, and Bindi was oblivious to it. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be returning this book to anybody anytime soon.
Readusting her bag, which seemed really heavy now the book had been added, though it hadn't weighed much at all, Bindi felt like saying some more, but she decided against it, waiting for Shawn to talk.

Shawn thought about this for a moment, letting the thoughts of the book on the Dark Arts slip from his mind. Karen was a Ravenclaw, and therefore extremely hard-working and intelligent. She did well in a lot of her classes, which was enough to please her teachers. He figured that her stubborn attitude did get her in a lot of trouble, and around the middle of her last school year she had had personal problems and rarely did homework or even show up to classes.
"Karren eez a good student, verry smarrt, so I don't know why her teacherrs wouldeen't like 'er," answered Shawn, he wasn't about to go into to details about his sister's previous problems seeing as they involved him and didn't make him look very good. Plus he rarely told people he'd just met personal things about himself.
He decided to change the subject, "So you arre a Rravenclaw too, that must mean you arre smarrt too."

"Oh, I'm sorry about that, maybe I got the wrong idea." Bindi apologized, what had come over her, to criticize his sister? She listened to his next comment, and then laughed. “Maybe I am, though I don’t like to think of myself in that way, you know?” Bindi forgot all about the book, thinking about what Shawn had said about his sister. She was certain that Karen was smart, but she didn’t hand her homework in as often as she shook. Bindi pushed these thoughts to the back of her mind.
“So, you’re in Gryffindor? What are the traits for someone in Gryffindor?” She asked, pushing some hair away from her eyes. She had always wondered what being a Gryffindor meant. Houses didn’t mean that much did they? But then again, if you were in Slytherin you were meant to be evil, but wasn’t that just a rumor?

Bindi listened and nodded, taking all this information in. She then felt the need to go and read the book in her bag, or find out more about it, anyway. Trying to fight it with all her mental strength, Bindi thought of something to say. "I better go and find the right owner of this book, then. I'll see you around!" The words came out of her mouth before she could stop them, and on their own accord, her feet walked her into the castle, away from Shawn.
"What the hell?" Bindi asked aloud, but nobody took any notice. To them, it looked as if she was just walking along, not being forced by some invisible...thing. Bindi knew that wherever she was going, it was defiantly not to lost property.
