Submit a Subplot

In order to submit your own subplot, the rules are simple. Just post here, and wait for it to be approved.

The plot should include background information involving the situation as well as the characters involved - it should go somewhat in depth regarding these things also. If you would like to make it a summary, that is acceptable. Or, if you’d rather post something in character, either an explanation or a story, this would also work. As long as it is clear what you are trying to incorporate and with who - and why it should be made public.

xx. actual write-up [what?]: Serenity Sangaea and Regulus Black have been together for over two years now. And you can’t deny that it would seem as if they were meant for each other. Nothing seems to have been able to tear them apart. No matter who tried to split this unlikely pair, they continued to prevail simply because they would do anything for each other. Reg’s worried about not being around Serenity constantly, and that some hunky healer is going to pick her up at Mungos and that would be the end of the relationship. Of course he knows that this is all paranoia. So he doesn’t mention it.

Before they leave for the summer (or in Serenity’s case, for good), Reg gives her a beautiful ring, obviously a family heirloom. He explains to her how it is charmed to be ruby red in color while their love for each other is still running strong, but gradually change into a clear color if either of their hearts change. He also doesn’t say that it would change black if either of them ever were to die. It seemed like too much to tell her, and he didn’t want to upset her.

She loved the ring and put it on immediately.

The two continued dating for about a month before a realization hit Regulus. His girlfriend, this girl that he would do anything for, was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Look at her parents, both very strong and very loyal members of the Order, why wouldn’t their daughter be? As usual, Reg’s mind began spinning. He knew that if she was (hell, even if she wasn’t), and The Dark Lord realized that they were dating that he would probably make Reg kill her just to prove his loyalty.

And Regulus couldn’t do that. He wouldn’t do that to her. So he went to go see her, and broke up with her. He probably could have been more gentle about it, but he couldn’t have her finding out his real reasons for breaking up with her. He couldn’t let her find out that he was hurting her to save her life in the end. He knows he hurt Serenity, and he hates himself for doing it.

But he just has to keep reminding himself that it is all for the better. He soon hooks up with Kiana Burke, a Slytherin pureblood a year older than him (set up by his parents at one of their little get togethers). Around her, he’s nothing like he was around Serenity. His parents were more than happy that Reg finally got over that stage of having his own mind, as well as being in love with a girl from a notoriously light family (pureblood or not). Had Sirius not been blasted off the family tree, Reg would have had more of a choice when it came to who he got to marry, but without Sirius there, Reg became the Black heir, and therefore needed a suitable bride. So one was picked for him. The girl that Sirius was betrothed to before he was blasted off the tree.

Unlike his two cousins (who seemed content with the people they were arranged to marry), Reg really doesn’t like Kiana. Sure she is pretty, but… that is about it. There isn’t any sort of chemistry there. At least with his cousins they seemed to have some sort of connection to their husbands. Reg feels nothing, nothing more than physical attraction.

He still loves Serenity more than he would ever admit, and being around Kiana makes him want to vomit. The girl obviously got the better end of the deal here. But there is nothing he could do to get out of this. The Blacks and the Burkes went way back. Originally Kiana was to be married to Sirius, but of course, he was blasted off the tree, and to unite the two pureblood families, Regulus became Kina’s betrothed.

Not fun stuff.

On the other side of the spectrum, Reg doesn’t know exactly how much he hurt Serenity. He didn’t mean to upset her, but the way he broke her heart like that, he would understand if she hated him for the rest of their lives. Hell, he hated himself for doing so.

But it all goes back to the ring, which hasn’t changed at all since Reg is still in love with Serenity, and Serenity is still in love with Reg. But will she notice it? Will she notice that the stone was still as ruby red as ever, if not even darker? Or will she think that Reg hates her and wants nothing to do with her?
