sammi ward.this time I'm mistaken for handing you a heart worth breakin' this is how you remind me of what I really am -----------------------------------------It had been so long. Letters had been nothing to the the thought of seeing her lifelong friend again after such a long time. The thought of actually being able to hug him properly after such a long time made a huge smile cross Samantha's lip - the first proper smile since the dark day that had passed a couple of days before. Hawkins had always been able to make her smile, be it though his own smile or through his jokes, or the words that belonged to him that she read on a page. Whatever it was, it was perfect. He just made her feel better without trying. He was Hawkins.
Skipping into the Three Broomsticks, where she had planned to meet him a while back, Sammi slipped into one of the small, cute areas at the back where you could sit in privacy and talk. She assumed that Alastor would have... Told him. About the whole 'breaking up' thing. Her left hand still felt cold without the ring, her heart empty without that warm feeling of knowing she had someone to go home to. But Alastor had Jaseline now, and she... She had a daughter to care for. She couldn't end up like the last time her heart had been broken. That would be insane. Rubbing her ring finger, Samantha sighed. It still hurt. A lot.
She had already ordered two butterbeer and so she sat, chin resting on her hand, waiting for Hawkins to come. She wondered how he would have reacted. Would he have been upset or would he have expected it? She remember when they had all been together - Alex, Alastor and Samantha, the three best friends... The three Musketeers. They were still that. They would always be that. Best friends forever. With a bright smile on her face, Samantha sat up and relaxed. If Alastor hadn't told him then she would. She would take that step because it was Hawkins. He would understand and he would still love her. Just like she loved him.
They had so much to talk about! Medicine, Healing, Growing Up, Ashlyn, Alastor... The list was endless, as was their friendship. They had always clicked and tonight was all about remembering what that felt like. That close... The bond. Their bond. Smiling as a barmaid placed a drink down before her, Samantha looked around at the door, her blond hair covering her face a little. She remember when she had done the same in first year, a cute little blond sweetheart desperately looking around for her second year friend - her best friend. Alex Hawkins. A huge smile crossed her face as she sipped from her drink.
It had been too long. Far too long for her to even remember. She still felt a little ache in her heart when she remember all the time she had spent without him. Her Alex Hawkins - her brother. She classed him as that now. She would always class him as that. Their friendship was pure perfection... A giggle escaped her lips. What would Hawkins say?

It felt weird being back, to put it lightly. He never thought he would ever consider any place except England to be his home... and he was proved wrong. Sure this place had Alastor and Sammi, but other than that, it no longer had anything to offer him. They were so prejudiced against him simply because he was a werewolf that he didn't have a job... he couldn't find a job. He was constantly treated like a second class citizen by those who knew what he was.
And that was no way to live. So you better believe that when he was offered a better life someplace else, he took it almost immediately. He was offered a job, where he was not only paid better than he was at St. Mungos, but they were willing to work with him to get a schedule that would fit his predicament perfectly. It was the best thing to happen for Hawkins in a while.
But sometimes letters just weren't enough. He saw Alastor for the first time this afternoon in over two years, and this would be the first time seeing Sammi in nearly nine months. Nine months... nine transformations.... time started really blending together for Hawkins. The first few transformations were the worst, but he got used to them (imagine that). They were always like hell, and they always made him feel like shit. But the fact of the matter was, he had a large group of friends in Seattle (none of them as close as Alli and Sammi of course) that would be there for him after the transformation, make sure he was eating properly, giving him lots of chocolate, and just being there for him. It was the greatest thing to ever happen for him.
And Hawkins was missing them already and he had been gone less than a day.
He slowly opened the door to the Three Broomsticks and the smell of butterbeer was the first thing to his his nostrils. Oh the sweet and sugary goodness of butterbeer. He tried to make some of his own, but it really wasn't the same. It took him a minute or two to scan the pub before his eyes landed on the familiar little blonde sitting in the back corner, right where he knew she would be waiting for him (for it was where they sat when they came here as students). He slowly walked over, his smile growing as he got closer.
He looked good, much better than the last time he had seen her, and worlds better the last time he saw her in this country.
"Samantha Ward, fancy meeting you here..." he said with a large smile to announce his presence at the table.
He was in muggle clothes (because he never wore robes in Seattle) and only came with a single suitcase for his stay. He was currently in a hotel... maybe Sammi would let him move in. He had a navy blue button down shirt on with the sleeves rolled up to his shoulders and a nice pair of black pants on. He couldn't do anything to stop his graying hair, but still.... he was worlds better than the last time she saw him.

sammi ward.this time I'm mistaken for handing you a heart worth breakin' this is how you remind me of what I really am -----------------------------------------Things were looking up, Samantha decided, taking another sip of that delightful buttery beer. Not all things, of course, as her love life was sit a black hole and her daughter (and the man she loved) were risking their lives day in day out to protect the world... But they could have been worse. She knew that. Things could have been a lot worse for Samantha Ward and she was thankful she had such amazing friends to keep her head up and keep her walking. She knew what it was like to be depressed now and she needed them.
In a way she understood why Hawkins had left now. At first she had felt confused, a little betrayed, even, that he would move because of what some people thought of him. But now she had a better, developed understanding. She knew what he felt and she had an empathetic value about it that overwhelmed her ever so slightly. She was going to hug the life out of him when he got here.
Life was getting hard for everyone now that they were entering the traitorous thirties. The war was building and darkness was spreading and she could feel it taking hold of her heart and squeezing. Taking a deep breath, counting to ten and relaxing, Samantha sighed. She let the darkness get to her too much. Ruled by her emotions, Samantha knew her magical talents came from what she was feeling. She was connected to her emotions in a way most other's weren't. She had to keep herself under control otherwise she would make herself sick - like that time she had worried about Alastor so much she had spent the whole night with her head hanging over the toilet. Not the best night of her life.
Her eyes flickered around as she searched again, and then her eyes caught sight of the man she was looking for. Blue eyes widening with joy, Samantha almost jumped to her feet as she regarded her friend. Nine months had changed Hawkins a lot. He looked healthier, brighter, and he had the old sparkle in his eye - the one she loved so much and teased him about endlessly when they were kids. And this was the table they used when they were kids too. And her smile and her reaction was just the same as when they had been kids. A giddy leap attacked her stomach and she laughed when he approached, his words swirling around her like some kid of memory.
"Alex," Samantha said gently, moving forward instantly to wrap her arms around his neck and hug him, her forehead pressing into his neck gently. "I missed you so much! How have you been? Has everything been okay? How about that thing? Does it still hurt you every time or has it been getting better now that you're, uhm, used to it?" Samantha smiled a little. "You look amazing. So much better. I'm so happy to see you! You have no idea!" Her voice was vibrant and filled with caring emotion. She hugged him tight again before kissing his cheek.
"Where are you staying, 'Lex?" She was almost the only person who called him by his first name, save his family. "'Cause if you're staying in a hotel you've got another thing coming. I have a spare room in my apartment, you can come stay with me, alright?" Her words wouldn't stop tumbling out and she smiled, a small blush on her cheek. "Sorry, I should give you some time to reply to my questions! I missed you so much, that's all. It's wonderful to see you again!" All thoughts of Alastor flew from her mind.

Hawkins let her hug him and gently returned it. Oh Sammi, the girl could still put a smile on his face unlike anyone else. He loved Sammi like another little sister. They were that close. She helped him through so many tough times that she wasn't sure what would have happened had she not been there to talk him out of it. She truly was an angel sent down from heaven. That was the only explanation for it.
He knew how bad things were when he left, but after his talk with Alastor he realized how much worse things had gotten. He had secretly hoped that it had all just blown over and everything was back to normal. But unfortunately that was not the case at all. It was disheartening and he wished there was something he cold do. But what was there? Sure he was still an Order Member but hadn't been to a meeting since he left the country. Besides, he wouldn't be much help in a country where they couldn't look upon him as an equal. Seriously.
"Breathe Sammi," he chuckled when she finally gave him a moment to get a word in edgewise. He missed her a lot. She really did help brighten p his day.
He slowly let go and sat down in the booth, grabbing one of the butterbeers and taking a drink of it before going to answer all her questions.
"Well... everything's been great, better than I could ever possibly imagine. That thing is still... that thing and it is still the most painful experience I've ever gone though. It seems to get worse every time..." While it felt like it was getting worse, he knew what was coming so he could prepare himself for it. "I guess I'm staying in your apartment then..."
He wasn't sure if that was a great idea because he was quite sure that Sammi was going to convince him every moment of every day of why he needed to come back and how they needed him here. But he was needed in Seattle too. They had an outbreak of werewolf attacks in that corner of the country and had finally gotten things under control. But they still needed him.
He took another drink of the butterbeer. He did miss this stuff. "And I've missed you too Sammi," he smiled. "Pictures and letters just don't do your amazingness justice at all."

sammi ward.this time I'm mistaken for handing you a heart worth breakin' this is how you remind me of what I really am -----------------------------------------Alex always made her feel better with just a hug. Comfort, happiness, love... It was like healing in a hug. It was no wonder he was such an amazing Healer. He could fix even the most painful of wounds, even those that were emotional. He was just so wonderful. He was like... She couldn't describe it. Brother, friend, Musketeer... There weren't enough words to describe her Hawkins. She loathed all the people that had hurt him and was striving to make sure that he was happy.
He was in the Order too. He understood more than just her emotional pressure. Even though he had been unable to come to meetings, Sammi had tried sending him letters describing what happened in every meeting, but it didn't seem important. Making sure that he was looking after himself and keeping himself happy and breathing and alive seemed more important that stupid order meetings. She bet he would be a little shocked at how dangerous the world had gotten, but they would get through it. They were a Group. They could do it.
"Sorry, sorry!" Samantha giggled, putting a hand over her mouth and taking a deep breath. So what, she got carried away! It was Alex, she was allowed to. He made her day so much brighter and so much more amazing and wonderful in so many ways. She didn't understand how, but she grinned as he sipped a butter beer, her eyes sparkling at him. He was one of the few people that knew the real Samantha Ward.
"I'm glad! I'm glad that things have been better. But it sucks that the thing still hurts. I heard they're working on a Potion to make it better though, right? Surely that'll give you a huge helping hand. I hope it works - when they get it out on the market, of course." Sammi sighed, but smiled at her brother-figure none the less. "Of course you are! I always have a spare room and it was practically begging for you to come and stay in it, 'Lex!
Sure, she was going to try and make him stay, but she wasn't going to force him. She understood that he had obligations and that everyone over there needed him. They needed him like she needed.... Had needed Alastor. Her heart sighed and she sipped from her butterbeer to stop herself from sighing aloud. Alex might see how heartbroken she was - he was good like that.
"You're kidding, right?" Samantha cried, forcing a smile back on her face. "You have no idea how stressful stuff has been for me! I missed you so much, you know. You were always good at calming down, especially now that Alli and-" Stopping, Samantha bit her lip. "Have you talked to him yet? H-has he told you?" Told their best friend they weren't getting married anymore...

Hawkins bit his lip. See, he was happy. He was extremely happy... I mean as happy as one can get when you're a werewolf and a majority of people hate you simply because of what you are, things that are completely out of your own control. But he took it, and he got used to it. It is just one of those things you have to get used to or you'd be even more miserable. Hawkins learned this the hard way.
He was thankful for the letters Sammi sent him, keeping him connected with all the things that were going on back with the Order. He sorta missed being out of the loop on things like that, but he loved it in Seattle, he had settled down with his own family. Sure it was just him and Isabella, but they were having a grand time. Hawkins spoiled the little girl rotten.
He nodded. "Yeah, a potion. We... ugh... yeah heard about that. There's no such luck." In fact, he knew the guy that was trying to make it. He got updates on it, but none of them were good.
He shrugged slowly. 'Well... um... it isn't just me," he said slowly. "I never actually told you but... I uh-- I sorta have a daughter along..." He never told Sammi about Izzy. He knew that he should have, but something just stopped him from writing about Izzy in his letters to Samantha. Something he couldn't exactly explain.
And thens he dropped the bomb. "Has... Moody told me what?" he asked slowly, his brown eyes looking at Sammi with a mix of worry and almost forcefulness. Moody hadn't told him anything about him and Sammi.

sammi ward.just when you learned the game of life all the rules change overnight it seems so wrong to even try but taking a chance never felt so right -----------------------------------------Sitting back in her chair, Sammi took a deep breath. So Alli hadn't told him - she should have known. Perhaps Hawkins spoke to him before... Shaking her head miserably the woman lifted her drink and sipped from it again. She'll put it off for as long as she could, that was the best way to do it. It was, she was sure of it. Sighing deeply and wiping her eyes quickly she grinned at her friend.
She brightened quickly, though, and let the twinkle come back to her eyes. She could never stay unhappy around Hawkins. He had this aura of happiness and loving stuff that she could not deny. He was her hero and her inspiration in everything. She too was working on helping Werewolves just so that her friend could live a happier life. He was the one that kept her working through the day - the memories of that first night when he had to be observed. It shocked Sammi to the core and the thought always brought tears to her eyes.
"I'm trying to help as much as I can, but you know about me and Potions!" Laughing softly, Samantha shook her head. She failed at Potions every year since first year. She just hated the whole thing. Especially the roots and stuff - she could never tell the difference. "Something will work. One day. I know it, Alex. Don't worry."
Samantha looked shocked and she took a moment to catch her breath. "A daughter! How? when? Of course there's room for her too, my flat has four bedrooms, so... But when, Alex? You never mentioned anything!" The thought made Sammi grin brightly. A little girl to spoil again! Ashlyn hadn't been spoilt since she was seven. She had asked her mom to stop - even at that age she had known about her mother's money issues. Shocking. But then... The question came up again and Samantha sighed.
"I..." Taking a deep breath, the woman looked up at her best friend with watery eyes. "We're not... Together. Anymore. Like broken? haha..." Her terrible attempt at a laugh was empty as the tears finally ran down her cheeks. It had hit her just then - she and Alastor would never be. They were... Over. Ended. Broken. Broken like her heart. "Sucks, right?" Sniffing and wiping her eyes, Samantha tried to smile.

Hawkins stood up slowly, it was almost as if he was about to leave. Like he was going to leave the woman sitting in the booth at the Three Broomsticks in tears. He hadn't said a word. In fact when she had delivered that news he looked down at the table and began fidgeting with the bottle in his hands before standing up in silence. He took a deep breath and finally looked at her before he began walking. He just walked to the other side of the booth and sat down next to her, pulling Sammi into a hug.
He owed her so much, did you really think he was going to leave her at a time like this. He firmly wrapped his arms around her. "I know it hurts Sammi," he whispered, still holding her tight, refusing to let her go until she told him to. Until he was sure that she knew that he would always be there for her, until he was sure that she knew he would never fully leave her. Ever.
"But you know..." Hawkins was still a bit in shock that they weren't together anymore. "Maybe it was for the better." Sammi had said the same things to him after Astrid left him. That maybe it was all for the better. Her words helped him, and he hoped that his words could help her. He knew that her and Moody were close, almost as close as the two of them. But if they weren't together anymore it had to be for a good reason, right?
He took a deep breath and slowly let go of her, looking at her with a very Hawkins-esque grin on his face.
"Now.. yes I do have a daughter. Her names Izzy, and I'm sure that she'll be perfect little angel." he said slowly. "Sorry I never told you it just.. it never came up. And I just officially adopted her like... three months ago." And she was the most adorable little girl. Ever.
I don't know if it was obvious, but Hawkins was trying to get her mind away from Alastor by talking about Izzy.

sammi ward.out of reach, so far i never had his heart out of reach, couldn't see we were never meant to be -----------------------------------------Samantha watched with teary eyes as he stood up. The silence was killing her a sick feeling washed over her. She might have to run to the bathroom - but then he took a breath. Jumping a little she sat up, eyes wide and shimmering with tears that took all her strength to keep within her eyes. She had to be strong, Alastor had always told her that, but... She had never felt strong. Not without him. Alex moved around the booth and Samantha had been about to say something when he sat down beside her. When he pulled her into a hug Samantha broke down.
Holding Hawkins close she closed her eyes, trying to stop the tears. She clung to his shirt and she wished she could have been there for him like this when Astrid had left - the day she had left. She would have given anything to have been there to hold him like the little sister figure she was supposed to be. His words made her nod shakily as she clung to him. Her Alex. "I-I know... I know, Alex.." She whispered brokenly, never wanting to let go. He was so warm, so comforting... It was as though he was healing her without trying.
Sniffing, Samantha nodded as she listened to him. She remembered those words. "You're right, I know... But Alex.. I just..." It felt like a piece of her was missing. She had loved Alastor for twenty years. Ever since that date, since he waltzed into the library and came and bothered her and Hawkins when they were studying. She nodded again, more to herself and the soft tones of Alex's voice soothed her. Looking up at him she smiled weakly. At least now he knew. Now she had nothing to hide.
As he pulled away Sammi pouted a little and grabbed his hand. She didn't want to let go of him - she was scared. Scared she was going to lose someone else she loved above all else. "You never told me!" Sammi said, lifting her other hand to wipe her eyes. "Izzy? That's so cute. She can stay in Ashlyn's old room if she likes. It's still a little like a kids room so she'll fit in perfectly, if she wants." Nodding, Samantha smiled brokenly. "You're too kindhearted for your own good, Alex! What am I going to do with you?" Snuggling up to him again Samantha kissed his cheek. Her Hawkins - her hero.

 Aw.
Hawkins knew that he shouldn't have let her go, but he had to. He felt bad for her, he wanted to hold her and make all her problems go away by never letting her go again. But that wouldn't be good for either of them. He knew that she felt guilty that she couldn't be there when Astrid left, but he seriously was better off without her. He knew that it would have never worked out between them, as much as they wanted it to. When he saw the way she looked at that other man, he knew she was gone. And why hold on to something when it was already gone? It took him a while to convince himself of that, but he managed to, and he was going to have to convince Sammi of that.
As she broke down he just rubbed her back gently, almost like he did with Izzy when she got scared. Like after she transformed back after her first full moon. He didn't know what to say, so he just comforted her,and that was what she was doing now. Comforting Sammi because Sammi needed him. Sure Izzy was still in the hotel room, but she was a good girl, and wouldn't leave. She had probably fallen asleep. The portkey here really got to her.
He squeezed her hand gently. A smile on his face as his other hand moved up to wipe a tear away. He chuckled lightly. "I couldn't leave her alone Sammi." And Hawkins didn't like seeing her as scared as she was. He wished he had had someone there with him when he transformed for the first time instead of people just staring at him as he went through the worst experience of his life... alone.
He vowed to never let anyone else experience that as long as he had the power to. It was always easier when there were others there with you for the transformation. "She would've gone to an orphanage, and I wouldn't do that to her... and I'm sure she'd love spending time with you... maybe..." It caused a small chuckle to bubble out of him. Who could not like Sammi? She was the sweetest person ever.

sammi ward.out of reach, so far i never had his heart out of reach, couldn't see we were never meant to be -----------------------------------------Emotional strength was never high on Samantha's list of strong points and this showed it. She was shaking with her sadness and she could hardly control it. Alex was a nice comfort, though, and he soothed he. He had always been there to sooth her just like she had been there for him. They had one of the most perfect relationships in the world. She just wanted to take him home and next let him go back to America but... She couldn't hold him to a place that he didn't want to be. She could never do that to Alex or his little girl. She was so confused and her heart was so bruised... Everything was just out of her reach now. She just had to make it all come back, that was all.
She had something new to focus on now, though. Alex's charming little girl. Though she still clung to Alex's hand she wiped her eyes again, forcing the sadness away. It would go... In time. She knew that. And this time she wasn't going to use firewhiskey to do it. Thinking to herself, Samantha smiled. She would go home and cook up a storm of little treats. Even if she was awful at Potions she had been making dinner for Ashlyn since she was seventeen. That seemed pretty good to Samantha. Cookies and brownies and then later proper food. Shaking her head, she looked up at Alex.
"I know you couldn't, Alex. I bet she's the sweetest little thing. What I'll do is I will go home after this and I'll remake the beds and get Ashlyn to come home. I'm sure I can convince Charlus to give her the rest of the day off. She's just training today so it doesn't matter. You can come and settle in whenever you like." Samantha smiled brightly. She could see how much Alex cared for the girl. She wished that she could have done more for him when he was here - at that time. She wished there had been something she could have done but she had literally held back by Jean when Alex had been transforming. She had felt her blood boil with rage at being forced to watch him go through that kind of pain.
"Do you think she would call me Aunty Sammi? I love being called Aunty Sammi!" Letting a real smile come to her face Samantha nodded to herself. "As if you would let her go to an Orphanage. I know she's in a good home with you, Alex. I know it." Smiling, Sammi yawned and shook her head. She was exhausted but she was fine. She was happier now, happy to be with Alex and to know that when she got home she would have something to do - people to care for. It's all she wanted.

 Aw.
Hawkins fully understood that no one could help him through that. He understood that he had been on his own because there was no one else there to help him through it. To tell him exactly what he was going to be going through before it happened. To prepare him for that feeling of every bone in your body breaking, regrowing, and then breaking again in the span of seconds. The feeling of the skin falling off of... ripping from the sudden growth that there wasn't enough time for it to expand to take the newly transformed werewolf. He knew it was going to hurt, but he had no idea the extent to which it was going to hurt.
And it never got any better, but when someone was there... it was almost as if it made it easier. It was like you knew there was someone there with you going through the same thing. And it made him feel quite a bit better.
"You don't have to do that Sammi," he said with a small smile. She didn't have to get Ashlyn off of work, and she didn't have to do all that for them. It was no big deal.
"I don't mean to like impose or anything..." he said slowly, then he laughed when she started talking about Aunt Sammi. "Maybe... she still calls me Hawkins," he chuckled softly. "But I'm sure if you ask nicely she'll call you Aunt Sammi." he smiled.
He really did miss Sammi, the ability to laugh so freely.

sammi ward.just when you learned the game of life all the rules change overnight it seems so wrong to even try but taking a chance never felt so right -----------------------------------------Samantha knew she could never help with that pain. She could only be there after, a new set of clothes in her hands and a cup of something warm with her. It was all she could do for her friend now. She was keeping in close contact with Damocles Belby, the person that was working on the potion. Although things weren't go as well as they all hoped, Damocles had a name and many great ideas for what he had christened his "wolfsbane" Potion. She didn't know how long it was going to take but she would be there to offer help whenever it was needed. She would do anything.
Looking up at Hawkins, she smiled and kissed his cheek. It was her little way of thanking him as she slipped her hand away from his, reaching out and moving her glass to her lips again. Butterbeer would warm her up, that was true. She knew it. Ah, Hawkins. Grinning at him she realised the hole inside her was already starting to heal. She wondered when she should tell him about Antonin... Blush.
"You know I'm going to do it anyway. Ashlyn has been wanting to see you ever since I started getting proper letters from you. She still calls you Uncle Hawkins most of the time but don't tell her I told you." Winking, Sammi giggled. Ah, Alex always fixed her pains with his presence.
"You're not imposing, don't be silly." Samantha told him, her voice echoing with determination. "You know that I will bake her things. Does she like cookies? Or brownies? Or anything else like that - cakes or muffins?" Samantha grinned. "I'll make some for you too. Ashlyn is going to be jealous." Her eyes brightened at the thought of being called Aunty Sammi and she giggled. She hadn't been this carefree in a long time.

Hawkins laughed as he took a drink of his own butterbeer. He was always thankful for the help that Sammi gave him after his transformations. He was glad that there had been someone there for him afterwards. Looking back he felt quite guilty about all that he put on Sammi. The transformation back was almost more painful that the original transformation into the wolf. He could remember her rushing in and Hawkins was so out of it, he missed so many things. He pushed her away at first, not realizing exactly how much force he had exerted, pushing her into a nearby wall. He later realized what he had done and apologized profusely, apologized until Sammi whacked him upside the head and told him it was an accident and made him promise to stop apologizing.
He was always careful after that.
But he always apologized for things out of his control... the fact tat he could be the biggest jerk the two or three days leading up to the full moon, and especially afterwards. It was like the wolf inside of him didn't want to be locked up. But Izzy was helping him with that.
"Really? Uncle Hawkins, isn't that just adorable then?" he asked with a small chuckle. Uncle Hawkins, that just made him laugh. "Are you still telling people you're my sister, and we were just separated at birth?" he asked with a small smile. Aw, he missed Sammi so much.
"And I do believe she does loves anything with chocolate in it." Just like him. You put chocolate in anything, and he'd probably eat it because it is chocolaty-delicious.

sammi ward.the smile on your face lets me know that you need me there's a truth in your eyes saying you'll never leave me -----------------------------------------Things were going to get difficult. The transformations got worse over time, she knew that and Samantha also knew the things that could go wrong. She had learned through a mistake to make sure that she was more careful around Alex after he transformed. She had to keep herself in plain view of his sight and make sure he recognised her. She didn't want to be shoved into a wall again, thank you very much (though it had been a little fun. Kinda like flying... Don't tell Alex that). He was so sweet and was so apologetic that Samantha had just hit him. It had hurt like hell and she was sure her fist had been bruised by his stupidly hard head (jerk) but she had stopped his apologies. He couldn't help his instincts.
Samantha was careful after that. Careful to make Alex realise that no matter what he did she was always going to be there. Always going to be there to help him feel better, to bandage him up if he hurt himself and be there when he needed someone to talk to. He was her best friend and she wasn't going to loose him because of some silly accident.
Sure, he could be a jerk at times, but Samantha knew that it wasn't his fault. Alex wasn't a jerk at heart but the beast side of him really was. If she could get that thing alone she would definitely beat some sense into it. Poor Alex had to suffer some serious crap because of what happened to him and Samantha was always there, ready to stand up and defend him no matter what. She would never let anyone hurt him.
"It is adorable! Don't you think she's the cutest thing! I'm sure Izzy is going to be even more adorable. I know it!" Samantha grinned and sat back in her chair, relaxed and comforted. "You know I'm still saying that! We were separated at birth, you know it! Sure I'm a little blond but.." Shrugging with a bright smile, Samantha laughed. She and Alex were as close as brother and sister.
Already Samantha's mind was working around what she might make. "Triple chocolate chip cookies and chocolate brownies and chocolate muffles and a big chocolate cake!" Samantha told her friend brightly. "I'll make some muffins when I get home and ice our names on them! How does that sound? Think she'll like it?"
