The wind was cold as it caressed the seventeen year old girl's skin who smiled and shivered at the goosebumps that popped out of her skin at the sensation. Serenity Sangaea had matured over the years, but was still that fun-loving young woman who probably cared more about other's feelings than she should have. She still laughed, still smiled, but there was a certain reserved quality about her that only drew the one's she loved closer and closer to her. Ravenclaw robes and her black cloak flittered in the roaring wind that had deemed its very goal to get rid of her by sending her reelng back to the castle. Too bad she wasn't cooperating; there was something comforting about it's almost freezing touch this day... Maybe it was because it was the first day in a long while that it hadn't rained, though she did love the wet weather so.
She was walking contently, a pace to enjoy the surrounding grounds that were still soaked from the other day's weather; her destination not far at hand. The lake... It was midday on a weekend, and though most would ordinarily be out, they had decided to forgo it, seeing as the grass was still bogged down with the constant showering of the week's weather. Serenity didn't mind though, it was peaceful.
Sparkling blue eyes scanned the horizon of the the lake that reflected the soft shimmers of the sun's rays, a gentle smile on her face as her walk treaded to a slow halt, stopping just beside an ancient oak. Serenity didn't know how long she stood there, content in just watching the way the sun sparkled softly on the water's surface.
It was truly beautiful. This post has been edited by Serenity Sangaea on Apr 8 2008, 07:46 PM

Regulus Black was ready to get the hell out of here. Really ready. He hated Hogwarts more and more as the years passed because the more he experienced things, the more he realized how stupid people were. Stupid being the idiots he was stuck going to school with. Seriously, they were annoying, stupid and it took a lot of self control for Reg to even deal with them on a daily basis without bashing their heads together because they were so daft. And it was mostly those damn Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors that got on his nerves. The Ravenclaws he could deal with.
As he walked, he was smoking. This was the only place besides the Slytherin Common Room he could do it and not get in trouble. It was a disgusting habit (as had been pointed out to him on multiple occasions), but it helped him calm down a little bit. Of course, it was gonna kill him in the end. But he didn't really care. And those Ravenclaws were stupid know-it-alls anyways.
Speaking of Ravenclaws, a smile formed when he spotted a super special Ravenclaw up ahead on the small path that wound around the lake. Oh Serenity. She was his sanity a lot of time. He was so head over heels in love with her, it could be considered pathetic in a way. He pulled a hand out of his pocket and ran his hand through his wind-blown hair. Damn that wind for ruining his perfection (although he looked more natural and like the old Regulus when his hair was a little bit messy).
He wasn't sure why he was walking by the lake, but he was really glad he did as he walked up behind Serenity and gently wrapped her arms around her, slowly enough so that she knew it was him and not some sick freak, his fingers gently tickling her sides as the moved around to clasp around her and bring her close. "Hey Serrie," he smiled as he leaned around and kissed her cheek.
There was just something about her that made the Slytherin's icy heart melt in a second. "How are you on this wonderfully frigid day?" He smelled of the cigarette he finished before coming over and greeting Serrie.

Arms wrapping around her broke her thoughts hold on her, and Serenity couldn't help but gasp at the sudden-ness of it all. She almost simaultaneously relaxed though as the arms hold on her was gentle and slightly tickling as they brought her close to a familiar chest. Regulus' scent was as wild as it ever was, combined with just a hint of... cigarette smoke. She sighed lightly, contently, though somewhat disapproving, "Hey Regulus... I'm doing fine on this 'wonderfully frigid day' thank you very much. And I see you've been smoking. Again." It wasn't a scold, or even a repirmand; it was a quiet acknowledgement hidden with the same disappontment that she had sighed with.
Serenity just didn't want him to get hurt, for said cigarettes to kill him. He knew she was interning at St. Mungo's and she had seen many a people affected by smoking. It was disgusting, but it was also Reg's choice, and if he decided he wanted to smoke, she wasn't going to try and stop him. She turned around in his arms, so that they were face to face now, locking her sky-blue eyes with those black ones that had stolen her heart during fifth year. Serrie kissed his lips softly, a gentle kiss, before pulling away and wrapping her arms around his neck.
Merlin she loved this boy, loved him with her whole heart. "And how is Mr. Impressive doing today?" A smile played about her lips, the cold wind blowing her platinium blonde hair seeming like nothing when she was held this tightly to her favorite Slytherin's chest. Reg had picked up the nasty habit the summer between his fourth and fifth year. So much changed in that one summer, the only one who didn't completely see the difference was dear Serenity. Sure she noticed some differences (a lot in appearance, and picking up the smoking), but a lot more changed than just that.
"Yes, I've been smoking... again..." he said, a bit of a mocking, yet playful overtone to his voice. He knew that Serenity didn't like his bad habits, but Reg didn't mind that she disliked it. Everyone was entitled to their own opinion. And by this point he was addicted, and it would be too much of a bitch to stop now.
He smiled again as he gently reciprocated the gentle kiss, glad now that he could see her face instead of just the back of her head. This was a much better view in his eyes.
He kept his eyes locked on her sky-blue eyes as the smile remained on his face. As previously stated, he would be completely and utterly lost without Serenity. The girl stole his heart and he knew he would never get it back. And that thought didn't bother Regulus at all.
"Mr. Impressive is just dandy today," he smiled. He was always fantastic when he was around Serenity. He could be in the worst mood before hand, but then as soon as he was around Serenity, that all went away and he was happy and perfectly content.

Serenity sighed lightly, knowing that nothing she said would ever convince Regulus to stop smoking, so that was a moot issue. A small part of her though, a very small part that she'd most likely deny it's existence if anyone ever asked, was hurt by the fact that he wouldn't stop for her... A very small part of her wanted to be so important to a person that they'd give up the world for her. She knew she'd give up hers for him if he ever asked, but those thoughts were selfish and irrational; she knew about nicotine, and she knew it wasn't as easy as just going cold turkey. So she pushed them away, though a deep part of her wanted to be selfish, wanted to demand that he stop. But Serenity could never, would never do that to Regulus. She would never be selfish at the cost of his happiness, so those selfish parts of her she buried, if only for him.
"Dandy, eh?" Serenity giggled, a smile on her slightly pale face as blue eyes meshed with black perfectly. Once again she leaned up to kiss him, though deepening it a bit more than the last kiss had been. A few moments later, she pulled away for breath, though still close enough that their lips touched with every movement that followed speaking. "That's good."
She didn't know what her fascination with Reg's hair was, but everytime they were close like this, she found her hands running through his scalp, massaging all the stress of the day away. Serenity loved being close like this, loved running her fingers through his hair, loved him period.
And she wouldn't change it for the world. This post has been edited by Serenity Sangaea on Apr 8 2008, 07:38 PM

Aw. Reg loved her too. Reg loved everything about her, from that slight scolding in her voice when she mentioned him smoking, to the way that she acted around him. Even the way she massaged his scalp whenever her hands could get close enough to do so. It felt good. It felt really good, and he let her know that on every possible occasion.
And Reg would give up so much for Serenity, but he couldn't stop smoking. He tried, and that was the worst week in recent memory that he ended up just picking it back up. But he was cutting back. Slightly, but he was still cutting back. There were just days where he needed the nicotine. And if he didn't get it, well he wasn't a happy camper, even around Serenity.
He smiled as he kissed her again, the kiss much deeper than it was before as his hand moved up from the small of her back to the base of her neck, rubbing it gently in a massaging fashion as he kissed her. Reg loved her, and he told her that every now and again.
"Yes, very good," he smiled as he broke the kiss, once again looking right down into her eyes. He could stay like this forever and be the happiest person in the world.

And so could she.
Arms that were wrapped around his neck wound their way up so that both of her hands were now massaging the back of Reg's scalp, pulling him in for another deep kiss. The sensation of his thick black hair rubbing smoothly against her fingertips was enough for her to slightly moan into it, enjoying their closeness like nothing before, the way their bodies just seemed to fit against each other like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Serenity never wanted this moment to end, and she had completely forgotten about the ferocious wind blowing over them both, because all that mattered was that she was with him. Safe. In his arms. Kissing him.
Serenity broke away for air again after a good, long moment, resting her forehead against his with a loving sigh. Her lips still tingled from the multiple kisses they had exchanged thus far, and they were aching to be kissed again as they gazed deeply into Reg's beautifully black eyes. She moved her hands from the back of his scalp to his neck again, loving the way they looked against his uniform. She loved everything about this boy... he was her whole world.
What would she do without him?
"I love you..." she whispered, their foreheads still touching.
And she did...
Probably a lot more than she should have.

He loved Serenity, I think we all get this by this point. And deep down he had a feeling that this connection that he had with Serenity was only ever going to happen with Serenity. He was probably too young to be thinking this, but he had a feeling that Serenity was the only one for him. From the way they seemed to fit together, to the feelings he got when he was around her. Everything about her made him happy, and he hoped that he made her as happy as she made him.
But he already knew something that was going to happen that would break her heart. And he didn't have a choice in the matter. There was nothing he could do to stop this, it was already in the works. He wished it wasn't the case, but he was too far in to stop now. There was no turning back.
Regulus was oddly silent, even for him. He just took a deep breath of the cold air and held her close, loving the feeling of her body pressing up against his. Maybe this was the problem, maybe this was why they couldn't be together. Maybe they were too perfect. Maybe they were too right for each other to ever be together.
"I love you too," he whispered. He didn't want this to end. Ever. He loved Serenity almost too much than should be possible for the cold hearted Death Eater. It was obvious that Regulus would do anything and everything he could for Serenity.
Except this one thing... and this one thing was going to drive them apart forever.
"I... I have a present for you..." he said as he slowly moved his arms from around her. "Do you want it?" There was a playful smile on his face, even though he did seem a bit distant.

Reg was being odd, and it was starting to worry her a bit.
He was never this silent, not ever around her, and she had to admit that it was slightly disconcerting to hear that pause between her whispered words and his. It made her heart pump just alittle bit faster in her chest, an old deep seated fear emerging that she hadn't felt in about two years. Serenity knew she was just being paranoid though, Reg loved her... She loved Reg... Everything was fine...
So then why did she feel such a splash of dread wash up against her stomach?
Even his normally vibrant playful smile was a bit distant, and that just increased the feeling of dread that curled at the base of her spine. She was at a loss for words to address Regulus (afterall how would one start a conversation that was based on a feeling of unimpeccable doom? It was inconceivable.), though worry shined clearly through her too-expressive blue eyes.
"You didn't have to get me a present..." she said softly, watching him as he pulled away, all of a sudden missing that perfectly fit body against hers. Serenity wrapped her arms around herself to compensate for the loss of body heat, though nothing could compare to Reg's warmth. "But yes, I'd love to have it... Please?"

Reg didn't even realize that he was being distant, even if his mind as on Kiana and the fact that they were going to be married after his graduation from Hogwarts. He was also thinking about how he was going to hurt Serenity. He never wanted to ever hurt her because he loved her with every ounce of his being. He knew that not only from what he was feeling whenever she was in his arms, but from his gift. He reached into his pocket and slowly pulled out the nicely wrapped black box.
It was simple, a black ring box with a green ribbon wrapped around it. All she had to do was pull one end of it and it would come undone, allowing her to open the box and reveal the old ring. It didn't have the Black family crest on it or anything denoting it was a family heirloom, but it obviously was. It was that old, but at the same time it was beautiful.
A large stone sat perfectly in the middle of the golden ring. It was a deep ruby color, almost too dark to be a true ruby. It was originally an old engagement ring that he charmed almost too perfectly. "It's charmed," he said softly as he kissed kissed her cheek. "As long as my heart belongs to you, that stone will stay red," he explained, looking right at her, instead of down at the ring.
"And my heart will always be yours..."

It might have been a simple velvet ring box with a green ribbon tied around it, but it meant the whole world to Serenity. She didn't know what it was about people giving her things, but she loved it; the only thing that made her happier was giving someone else something. Maybe it was the feeling that you were cared for, thought of when you got something from someone; to her, the thought behind the gift made it all the more special. She beamed at Regulus as she pulled gently on the forest green ribbon (her favorite color in the whole universe), cupping the silky fabric in her hand to save to put in her hair for later, and let out that famous cute little squeak she was good for as the ring box opened with a click.
Inside was a ring; easily the prettiest and simaltaneously most meaningful item she had ever laid her eyes on. It looked almost as if there was a ruby in the center of that shining gold band, but it was much, much too dark to be the precious birthstone.
And then his words, words that took her breath away and made her heart soar:
"It's charmed. As long as my heart belongs to you, that stone will stay red."
"And my heart will always be yours..."
Serenity leaned into the kiss to her cheek, too stunned for words. Blue eyes were done looking at the ring held now in her hand, locking with brilliant black, filling with all the love she held in her heart for this boy standing in front of her. Regulus Black.
The only one for her.
Unwillingly, sparkling blue eyes filled up with tears; not of pain or sadness, but of happiness and love. Serenity was smiling at him softly, "Mine will always be yours too..." and down came said tears, trailing down her cheeks, the end of her chin, and oddly enough hitting the ring held in her hand with a gentle 'plink'.
She sniffed a bit, her eyes traveling down to the ring, and slipped it on her ring finger, loving how it was a perfect fit against her pale skin. "It's really pretty, Regulus..." blue eyes locked with black again, and all of a sudden she was hugging him as if he was her lifeline.
"Thank you..."

Reg was worried she wouldn't like it. Reg was worried that she would think it was lame. But he had his reasons. He knew eventually he'd have to leave her. But he knew she'd understand. He hoped she'd understand that it wasn't his choice and that deep down he'd always love her.
A smile spread across his face and he slowly wiped away her jovial tears. Even if they were tears of joy, Reg hated it when she cried. He hated it when she cried... especially when there was nothing he could do about. He could still remember that one morning his forth year where she was in nearly hysterical tears in the Great Hall, and no one could get her to calm down. He went over to try and help her and she pushed him away. It hurt. It hurt even more when freaking... Edgar Bones was the only one that could get her calm enough to start breathing properly. That that freaking annoying Hufflepuff was better at making his girlfriend feel safe than he was.
He understood now why Eddie was the only one to be able to calm her down, but that didn't mean he couldn't be obnoxiously jealous of the fact that he could do what Reg couldn't.
He felt all the air being forced out of his lungs when she hugged him tightly. He rested his head on the top of hers and returned the hug, although not quite so tight. He loved the feeling of having her in his arms, of just wrapping them around her and holding her close... being able to smell her shampoo and feel her breathing against him. It was the best feeling in the world to Reg. Nothing could trump this.
"You're very welcome Renity," he whispered.

As soon as she realized that she was practically squeezing the air out of Regulus' lungs, she smiled a bit sheepishly, and loosened her grip to a level that was comfortable for the both of them. Serenity had just loved the ring so much, she hadn't quite paid attention to how hard she was squeezing him, just that they were as close as possible. She loved the feel of being in his arms, his lithe arms around her waist, his warmth engulfing her like a warm bath. Serenity could stay like this forever and be content; the outside world that was beating down on them hardly seemed to exist anymore, and the cold that had been pressing against her was seemingly vanquished due to the utter haven that was Regulus' arms around her. She gently pressed a kiss to his lips, an innocent peck of the appendage that could hardly be called a kiss, but that is what it was nonetheless.
Serenity found her newly ringed hand tracing his jaw, blue eyes studying him so intently as if she was trying to memorize him so that she didn't forget him. And she never would forget Regulus; she knew that for a fact.
"You mean the world to me, Regulus Black." she whispered back, for once using his full name (something she hardly ever did) instead of the abbreviated version. Somehow, or maybe she was just imagining things, it made it seem all the more intimate than using his nickname would have done.
And then, she kissed his cheek.

Yes, it could hardly be called a kiss, but it was a kiss none the less. Adorable. That's what people called them when Reg wasn't listening. Of course, there were sometimes when people would see Regulus with Serenity, and then as soon as she left, someone could approach him and he would be the biggest prick in all of Hogwarts. There was just something about Serenity that brought out the best in him. He wasn't sure what it was, but he liked it.
His dark eyes locked with hers as she began tracing his jaw. It made him relax. It made him feel this warm feeling deep inside of him that nothing could make go away. It was a talent that only Serenity had, and she was the only one that would ever be able to possess it.
if there was anyone he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, it would be Serenity Sangaea. Who cared that she came from a notoriously light wizarding family? Who cared that she wasn't what his mother considered "right?" Who the hell cared?!
Reg loved her. He loved her more than words could even describe. It was a feeling he had never felt before he met Serenity, and he knew he would never get this feeling from Kiana. Ever.
"You are my world Serenity," he whispered in response.

She didn't respond to that, because after all, just what could you say to such an admittance? She let her actions speak for her as they dwindled off into silence, her hand still stroking his jaw as his arms rested comfortably around her waist. Never had anything felt so right... so perfect. Serenity didn't think it was possible, but she just fell even more in love with the boy who had claimed her heart and soul; and it was growing with each and every day. She'd always be his, no matter what happened.
So what explained this irrational tingle of fear that ran down her spine?
Serenity reached up with her free hand and entangled it in Reg's silky lockes, massaging his scalp as per her usual. She just couldn't resist running her fingers through it everytime they were close like this; everything about Regulus was perfect to her.
She loved him.
