Name: Cadet Koki Gender: Female Age: 17 Affiliation: Deviant Rank: Academy Student
Description: When you think of the name “Cadet,” you would think of a short, powerful build, but not necessarily fat. However, this is not the case, as this particular Cadet is tall but otherwise evenly proportioned, with maybe more “blubber” to her legs than she’d like, but not so much that she’d actually be bothered to get up and fix. She’s not particularly strong, but she can carry someone her age on her back for a while with little difficulty. She has a slightly tanned look to her, but her natural skin tone has paled considerably due to the amount of time she spends indoors. Her hair seems to have felt the effects of next to no sunlight as well- a pale orange color, which comes as a shock to anyone who’s seen the flaming redhead that is pictured in her childhood photos. The only part of her that hasn’t dulled is her bright blue eyes. She has a large nose and small ears, to extreme dissatisfaction; she’d much rather have the sizes reversed. She has some freckles around her eyes and across the bridge of her nose, but not much more than that. She can generally be seen wearing anything from baggy T-shirts to tight tank tops and jackets, but she wouldn’t give up her jeans for the world. Let it be known her attempts at fashion fail nearly as miserably as when she tries to do any sort of long distance running.
Personality: Most people cringe at the sight of red hair –fiery hair, fiery spirit, they think –but Cadet Koki is really a shy person. With new people, of course. When she opens up to someone, she can be as loud and as obnoxious as anyone’s little sibling, and unfortunately for the world, she opens up pretty quickly. All that’s needed is a simple mention of a video game she’s heard of, (and it’s more than likely she’s heard of it, but there’s always the unknowns) and she’ll light up. She’s certainly into the whole sci-fi/anime/manga/overall “nerd” scene, and isn’t afraid to admit it. Once she’s sure the other person is a fan, at least. She talks a mile a minute when she’s excited, and it often takes a while to calm her down. She hates sun that’s too bright, but if she has her sunglasses with her (and a bottle of sunscreen!) she’ll go outside. She just won’t enjoy it, that’s all. The main reason she likes to travel is to brag to other people that she’s been to cool places. There isn’t much in the way of souvenirs and tourist shopping that she likes to do on vacation- in her mind, a vacation is lounging around the house in her pajamas, eating nothing but cereal and playing video games for a week. That’s not to say that she doesn’t already do that, oh no. She’s not a big coffee fan, but if it’s iced (think frappucino) then she’ll drink it. Her favorite drink is a strawberry smoothie. She’s often been teased by her love of fruit, being called “fruity” and such, and all of this has led her to be a bit grumpy when anyone teases her about anything. Generally she’s a nice person, and she doesn’t swear much, but she tends to change her attitude around different people. For instance, if she’s around more girly people, she’ll act interested about fashion and such, and if she’s around gamer guys she’ll be loud and crude. Around her closest friends, though, she’s happy, swears little to not at all, and will be the first to inform them about the newest video game on the market, or how she’s just found the best comic ever (whether they want to hear about it or not). She goes by either her first or last name, though she generally uses her first name in “American” games, and her last name in “Japanese” games, and still her first when meeting new people. She’s mostly straight.
History: ((blank, as per request.))
Pokémon Team: Bubbles/Lanturn/Male; A strong water/electric type, “Bubbles” absolutely detests his name, but as he was the first pokemon Cadet ever caught, he has grown to respect her. Even though she decided to name him Bubbles, of all things. Whenever she calls out his name, he tends to give an embarrasses flip of his tail, and Cadet often finds herself cursing her ten-year old imagination. He’s loyal, as should be obvious, and cares deeply for Cadet. For the most part he’s energetic, but is prone to bouts of seriousness when he feels his master is being too carefree for her own good. Cadet tries to stay around bodies of water so she can keep him out of his Pokéball. He’s roughly 67, level-wise.
Ludicolo/Ludicolo/Male; Another part water-type, except this one is a far cry from Bubbles. He is stubborn, and sometimes plain out refuses to obey Cadet, despite the fact that his own judgment has been the main cause for ninety percent of his losses. He always maintains his cheerful disposition, as is standard of his species, and enjoys dancing to the point of keeping the move Rain Dance even though his master feels its uselessness outweighs whatever advantage it gives in a double battle. The only thing that keeps her from leaving the Pokémon with her Professor is his courage, and the fact she remembers him as a Lotad, cute and practically defenseless when she found him. About level 63.
Vivi/Granbull/Female; Cadet had caught the pokemon reluctantly when it was a Snubbull, thinking only to use it to please her potential female friends with its pink “cuteness” (ugliness, Cadet often thought to herself). However, she had been shocked by its ruthless determination and desire to fight, and so she trained it like she had her other Pokémon. She couldn’t have been prouder when it had evolved into the powerful Granbull it is now, looking less like a highly feminine pet and more like a powerful protector. While Vivi didn’t always like Cadet, she was fiercely loyal to her and would risk her life to protect her, as would befit her guard-dog appearance. She’s around level 64.
Froggy/Toxicroak/Female; Froggy has a highly indifferent nature, and can sometimes be seen as a dreamer. For some inexplicable reason, Cadet finds her irresistibly cute, and can often be seen hugging the Toxicroak after, before, and sometimes even during a battle, or whenever she happens to be called out for that matter. Froggy is roughly level 65.
Camerupt/Camerupt/Male; A highly lazy pokemon, Camerupt is content as being Cadet’s favorite video-gaming seat and having very little battles compared to the rest of her pokemon. The latter statement is not true, however, as she often pushes him to fight when she feels like she has to prove a point. The fact that he occasionally falls asleep in the middle of the battle upsets her, but he wakes up in time to finish the match. Sometimes. He’s about level 62.
Cadet doesn’t really have a Pokémon “wishlist,” but she hopes to capture some kind of dragon type sooner or later, but preferably sooner.
Sample Roleplay: ((Please note this is somewhat old, and I know the end was rushed, but even though I tried fixing it up the original was still the best.))
The sun shone brightly in the sky, lighting up the city, making each window sparkle and gleam. It warmed the area pleasantly, and there was a light breeze drifting between the buildings. The streets hummed with the content, meaningless chatter of passing individuals, and there was the occasional birdsong from a passing flying type. The buildings even seemed to give off a cheerful presence- all in all, a perfect day to be alive, joy practically sinking into your very bones.
And he hated it.
He hated how the sun was always shining so perfectly, and even when it rained, there was always the most perfect rainbow among the clouds, and the rain was just so warm you could stand there for hours and be happy. He hated how every window glimmered as if it had just been installed. He hated how there were always those small groups of people who just stood and talked and talked and /talked/ on the sidewalks, how if you push past someone, they just yell “sorry!” after your retreating back. He hated all those stupid pokemon, dancing in the sky and chirping day and night. He hated how he had to wear his darkest clothes, his blackest sunglasses, his most angry expression every time he went out because dang it, this city was just too perfect to not try to ruin!
His mouth took the shape of a snarl, eliciting the giggle of a very small child who apparently thought the young man was trying to imitate a pokemon of some sort. Stupid innocent children, stupid innocent people, stupid innocent town. He hated it all. He hated it because he knew, somewhere, that there was no place this big, this beautiful, this happy all the time. He hated the false beauty of the place, brought on mostly because of the Contest Hall in the city, along with their extravagant gym leader, Fantina.
That very leader he had come here to beat, incidentally. His previous expression turned into a smirk, one that could almost be identified as a smile if it weren’t for his eyes –which were conveniently hidden, by the way –that suggested a darker meaning. Technically, he was a young trainer on his way to defeat another gym leader. Harmless, innocent, inconspicuous. It was true enough- he did come here to beat the leader, and to test the strength of his pokemon team. However, there was another objective. Collect the badge and deliver it to Team Galactic.
Now, Mark had always been a rather opinionated boy. If he thought that something was wrong, he said so, and he said it loudly. While this had often gotten him into trouble, he didn’t mind. It was important to him that the truth be known.
That was why he was so infatuated with Team Galactic. Their ideas for a better, united universe- how much closer to utopia can one possibly achieve? And, he knew, that if any group had a chance on succeeding in the idea of “world peace,” it was this team. However, just because he strongly agreed with them didn’t mean he was going to join them and give up his dream of becoming an ultimate trainer, oh, no. So, instead, he offered to give the team his services as an “undercover” officer of sorts. They didn’t entrust him with the super-special-top-secret missions like he had hoped they would, (in fact, he was pretty much just a Grunt with better hair) but he still felt a sense of pride knowing he was doing good. He knew that he was a strong trainer- they, too, saw it in him. So they allowed his sense of individuality, usually reserved only for the Commanders, and sometimes not even them. There were still restrictions placed on him, however- he had to check in regularly, carry a certain badge with him, go on all missions, agree to be supervised occasionally, that sort of thing. But he felt it was worth it. Especially so whenever he looked in the mirror and saw his own black hair, dark eyes, and tea-colored skin. He was still himself. And really, that was what joining Team Galactic was about for him. He would do anything for them; go on any mission, no matter what.
And this time, they requested he go gather up gym badges to be mass produced and sold on the black market of Sinnoh. He understood, and asked that he be able to keep the original badges for his own use- he was disappointed, however, when he received no reply other than the standard, “you will do as is required of you.”
While he was sometimes let down like this, he never took it personally –he still got more liberties than many Grunts, after all –and he never thought about leaving. Though, sometimes he wondered his Pokémon’s opinion of him. He never once heard a complaint from them, and they remained faithfully by his side. His pokemon included a powerful Stunktank, a Luxio (soon to be a Luxray, he hoped), a Sandslash of satisfactory strength, and a Charmeleon, which he also hoped would evolve soon. He had flat-out refused to name his pokemon, saying that any who did so were childish and idiotic- though, he had to admit, he had certainly entertained the thought on more than one occasion.
All that mattered, though, was their remaining with him until he had achieved his goals. Nothing more, nothing less.
My Role Playing: For one thing, I type “role play” instead of “roleplay”. I might not be so good grammar wise, and I may not know whether to use “affect” or “effect” in certain cases, but I’m generally a pretty decent role player. When I’m excited, tired- well, never mind, I always tend to type fast, which may lead to spelling mistakes, but I’m usually to the first to point them out anyway. If this bugs you, tell me to shut up- I’ll get it. If you see too many mistakes that I don’t make note of, I don’t care if you virtually shove a dictionary in my face with orders to read the damn thing and come back once it’s all memorized. I also tend to make stupid little comments ooc. If this bugs you as well, I’ll keep them to myself. I’m not too confident in my literacy, but I’m sure of myself enough that people who constantly type incorrectly annoy the hell out of me, so I’d say somewhere between semi-lit+ to literate. I tend to be a bit slow and ask a lot of questions, so be aware of that. I’m also usually on Alaska time, which means I’ll most likely be online four hours later than anyone else, so sorry if I respond at super snail speed. Other than that, I think there’s nothing else to say! c:
