There has got to be some way to revive that comm - there's something really wrong with the idea that the kink com for *Torchwood* is a zombie com.

I have no idea of hte admins are still in fandom, they're not really maintaining the comm - and no one is really playing in it, so that makes sense.

The Dr Who kink comm has been revived through the efforts of the moderator and, belive it or not, the anon meme (good for something, I guess) but how do we go about doing the same for Torchwood's kink com?

So what is the NAME of the kink comm for starters?

That's always a good place to begin, methinks. I didn't even know there was one.

kinky_torchwood

http://community.livejournal.com/kinky_torchwood/

it's been around for awhile, since April 08 but the last post was .... dunno, uh - actually fairly recently but I don't think requests have been answered recently.

the dr who one (with a smidge of Twood) is 'sizeofthatthing' (great name too). You can see how the mod is laboring to bring it back to life there (they also post new answers to requests on the anon meme to encorage people to go read, comment or write).

I've been thinking about that too, previously, having read and reread a lot of the stories there, and have followed the sizeofthatthing efforts on the meme- in short, I'd love to see something happen on kinky_torchwood again, I'd totally write for some of the prompts that are there right now even but always thought it would be weird to just do it out of the blue in a dead comm when no-one seems to be really around there.

Maybe what we can do is write for prompts and link to them here? Except it gets rid of the whole anonmynity thing....

Because, you're right, if no one knows the com is active, no one would know to check there, particularly on old posts.

Hm. Well, maybe we can use who_anon and set up a comment that we all post our own links to - that way it could be anonymous.

Something like:

(comment on page 13 or whatever of who_anon) 'Comment on this thread with any replies to prompts at kinky_torchwood'

and then whoever writes would comment in the thread. We'd have to create new comment posts occasionally but that would preserve the anony part and allow readers to find new stuff.

An alternative would be one of us willing to host an anon allowed thread where people can do the same thing as above (a post, with comments below that contain links).

if the comm shows activity, the admins may come back. Or we can ask if someone can inherit the comm or something.

There'd definitely have to be some kind of ... hmm ... public 'c'mon guys, post again?' type of thing to inform the, general public, if you will, that something is happening. Who_anon seems an okay enough place when they don't happen to be in a 'eew Torchwood, let's talk Old Who!' phase

That said, not everyone watches who_anon either or has people that watch it and report back or however these things work, so I'm not sure how much resentment or really interest there'd be for an anon Torchwood kink-meme post, no idea how many Torchwood people really hang out there.

But Yeah, I think a few strategic posts in places of 'let's revive this then' + actual activity there -> word of mouth propaganda, one should hope

I am definitely for trying to preserve the anony part, just to allow people to write non-con or whatnot without feeling someone's going to rip them a new one for it.

Well, if we set up a comment in who_anon and get some content for the thread (ie: people write for prompts)we can post on torch_wood about trying to reactivate it and look here for new stuff (and post people!). That will publisize it.

who_anons might gripe but hopefully it won't be a big deal. hopefully we wont get a troll sad.gif

How about - I mean - there is a bunch of kinky people here, get a few people to write something, fill two or three prompts, THEN make the thread on who_anon that stuff has been written and might continue to be written if people actually, yknow, write it? That way it doesn't look completely sad when absolutely nothing happens.

That's not completely anon to start it out really since we are obviously talking about it right here right now, but probably better to have a story or two to show for it and not just a 'but it's empty now :-('

So, basically, we need to pass the hat for kinky_torchwood and get a few stories in the pot then make some announcements.

I'm up for reviving it. To be honest, I've been avoiding that comm a little bit, because that's where I got started writing porn, and, well, I sucked at it. But we need a kink meme.

As for the mods, I don't think they were ever too involved in the Torchwood fandom. I think one of them wasn't even in the fandom at all. There's no problem with that, but it's possible they've moved on. That comm could use a fresh post or something, though. The one that's there is a bit cluttered.

If we can revive it and inherit it and make a new post instead of using the cluttered old one, I'd still be all for still using some of the old unfilled prompts because some of those are really sexy biggrin.gif But that's a few steps down the line, I s'pose.

That's the thing... there are a ton of prompts there, but it's hard to know if the people who requested them even remember putting them in a year or more later.

THEN THE BEST WAY TO DO IT oops

The best way to do it is to start a new post, and then while people are amusing themselves in the new old, go back and catalogue the old one. There might be some prompt overlap, but that's not bad. But get the ball rolling and play yo-yo catch up with the hand that's not in your pants.

Is it formatted like SOTT? Because I like/hate that format. I'd want to make organisational changes.

And anon? ALL THE WAY.

Just get a few people here to start the ball, then we should all pimp like fuck. and I mean fuck.
