If you haven't heard "The Country Death Song" by the Violent Femmes, you're in for a creepy treat. I'd love to combine this with clips from - what else - Countrycide. The words don't fit 100%, but the mood and feel do. Creepy, creepy, creepy.

Why don't we start a thread here about vidding? We could share info and maybe I'd feel confident enough to try one.

Dem has me on googlechat. I'm thaddeusfavour there as well.

Oh, yeah, I would love to see some vid tips! I have about 348904958 ideas for vids but I've never made one before, so I'm kind of wary of getting sucked in to the project.

I miss making videos...I just don't have the software or a powerful enough computer for it. I managed to make a music video using footage shot for an in-progress fan film using Nero 8 but I can't afford the full version...and it bogged down my computer no end.

I do have a background in video editing (on 70s era analogue equipment but hey, it counted toward my major!), so I'm willing to offer help. Or MP3s from my massive collection biggrin.gif

I've actually been thinking it would be awesome to do a Jack video to the Queen song "Who Wants to Live Forever?" but I just don't have the resources. Or, my friend pointed out how appropriate the lyrics of "Fate's Wide Wheel" (from Quantum Leap) are to Torchwood and Jack in particular smile.gif I've never really listened to the Violent Femmes but I may have to check out that song.

I'm just waiting for my new computer before I start vidding; I've been wanting to start for about 8 billion years. I've been doing as much research as I can in the meanwhile. Here's some of what I've been finding for total nubes such as myself.

(About Windows Movie Maker)

http://www.foolishpassion.org/Vidding-newb...-tutorial1.html
(About Ulead Video Studio - but this whole site is great.)

http://www.foolishpassion.org/mac-vidding/index.html
(And for those with Macs)

If anyone has any other helpful tips, or ways to get started, god I need them. So many vids in my head screaming to get out...

I'd love love love to see a vid that starts out with the following sequence:

"Doctor."
"Master."
"I like it when you say my name."

...and immediately following that, does a Doctor/Master and Jack/Master thing to Master and Servant by D-Mode.

Would also totally love to see an Owen video to the song "I'm a Doctor" by the Capetonian band MoodPhase Five.

I do plan on trying my hand at vidding, but not until after my current "growing like a son-of-a-bitch" story is finished. ::grr::

Along with the first vid I mentioned, I really think the old Styx song Show Me the Way would be an excellent one for a Jack vid. Beautiful song with lyrics that would fit Jack.

Hahaha. Awesome. I've loved every vid I've ever seen done to that song, but there's never been a fandom where someone was actually called Master before. How perfect.

I think my first one might have to be a Jack vid to the song "Forever Young." Talk about cheezy & perfect for Jack. I can't believe I haven't seen one done yet.

I think I'd like to see a Ianto / Jack vid to Darren Hayes' "Maybe". The words and tone would fit certain TW/DW images in rather nice ways.

I just wanted to say that this is an excellent forum for vidding. I used their tutorials to learn how to make a video. They are very clear and step by step. I knew nothing, followed their instructions to the letter, in complete ignorance, and successfully made a decent video with IMovie (comes on Macs). (A Jack video to Magnetic Fields' When My Boy Walks Down the Street, BTW - words are perfect for Jack.) I've made 3 more and I have ideas for at least 12 more! (that'll take me a few years at this rate). The people on this forum are very, very good vidders - their stuff is incredible. There are many Dr. Who vidders on there, so at least they're familiar with Torchwood. The slash interest is low, however, not that it matters. They're mostly into romantic, Jane Austen, men in period costume stuff.

If you're at all interested, I say, go for it, because it's a lot of fun. You don't get as much feedback as you do from fics, though. I personally find it easier than writing, but writing is really hard for me.
