Title: Gallifrey One

Right, so who's going? I get to, thankfully, be a civilian for this con and hope to meet up with various folks from here if anyone else is heading out there.

::Brushes dust away.::

I feel like a bit of a bumper. I'll be there - arriving Thursday afternoon/evening and leaving early Monday morning.

Yay, I saw you on the gally boards. I'll be there the same time frame with a slew of people in tow (although Patty, who you met, is out of the country). I keep trying to get Lifty to come, but you know, that winning the lottery thing hasn't happened yet.

I tried to bribe him into coming, too. I wanted to cosplay Harriet and make him be Gerald. Oh well, maybe next time!

Will you be bringing your Jack cosplay this time?

I'm going to be doing Alice ('Fragments' version) and have a friend who's going to be Emily. And I'm thinking of doing Harriet anyway, if I have time to get her finished. I just feel tentative about trying to transport the Rift detector box prop on a plane.

I am! While I may be on some panels (waiting to hear) this is totally in a fannish capacity, so I can be as much of a freak as I want. Also, I'm getting my hair cut for it and I have a coat that just needs to be worked over some at the tailor's which is not the usual solution fo the Jack coat and is certainly unique to what other cosplayers are using to solve the coat problem -- so I am very excited about it (short history of coat: German-made in the 1950s for a theater, used in a stage production as an RAF coat. Who the hell knows why this item even exists, but it's AWESOME -- I just need to change about eight billion details on it).

I'm also going to have a Lucy outfit or two onhand for when I want to be a girl. Most horrifying? Some friends and I are cosplaying on the airplane. The other two are a Ianto and a Ten.

Not going - but airplane cosplaying sounds like an excellent way to eke out Whovians on the plane.

*so entirely jealous*

It's been at least a couple of years since I've been able to just be a fan at something, so I am SO excited.

Also, It's been about a decade since I've had a men's haircut (the Snape-cut doesn't count), and I'm so fucking psyched to be chopping off my hair. Although it's a little scary that every haircut I've had for over a decade now has been fandom-related, other than one chop for a film role.

Oh, I love cutting my hair off for things. I've cut my hair off for cosplay several times, the most recent being a couple of D*Cs ago for the Doctor.

After a couple of years of short hair, though, I'm trying to grow mine out again ... I know I'll only cut it short again, but hey.

The cosplay sounds great. Of course, I'm always looking for an excuse to cut my hair short. (The only thing that's stopping me from getting it cut short again is the upkeep.)

OH, my hair is naturally curly and obscenely thick. Now that it's starting to go grey, it's even less manageable than it was before -- so short styles and a straightening iron make my life much much easier -- but generally I cut it all off and then ignore it for a few years, before hacking it off again. Maintaining a short haircut is a bitch -- which is one reason to do it in winter -- grows more slowly.

I'm trying to decide what I will do since someone wants me to bring my Ianto cosplay ... I don't mind cutting my hair short, but it seems a little pointless since I never had it quite that short, anyway, so I'm thinking I will probably aim for a wig.

Yeah, mine is thick and it grows really fast. I had it really short for a while, but the maintenance got a bit much. I've kept it chin length for the most part, which I like most of the time. But one of my long-term goals is to do some drag competitions and things like that, and I'd like to do it well. I've been playing around with my hair to make it look more like a longer man's cut, but I'll probably get it cut short again eventually. I'm a bit obsessive about keeping it above my shoulders anyway, though. If I go too long without getting it cut, I start getting tempted to cut it all off myself.

I unfortunately have that fine hair and a face shape that needs to either suit only long hair or really short. I had a no 2 haircut when I was 11 so in the 6 years it took it to completely grow back to the length it is now I know what hair styles do and don't suit me.

Back on topic ;) I might be making the trip over from Australia for Gallifrey One. If I am coming I would love to catch up with some of you.

Oh that would be awesome. I studied acting in Sydney and am always happy in this weird amorphous way to spend time to Aussies again.

I've done the full budgeting etc for the trip and am very sad that I can't now do it. Damn mortgages and bills...

I was so excited on the weekend when it seemed to be a possibility but now I am feeling a little down.

Oh we aussies are fun, although there seems an awful lot of us in LA at the moment ;)

I really wanted to go to the adult themes panel, but I also really want to go to the dance ...

Mu understanding from folks that have attended past GO's is that the dance tends to be really dead and all the action is in the karaoke rooms. That said, I live to dance, and have pretty much told everyone I know connected with GO that the pervy Torchwood fans are going to make the dance awesome this year and I'm going to be telling everyone to go there from the panel directly.

This is my attempt at instigation.
