I met him in second year, we were partnered together and immeadiatley became the best of friends. It's strange that we're so close when we are so different, but you know what they say? oppersites attract-- except in the friendship kind of way. We, since that second year, have been best friends and I can't think of a time when he wasn't by my side. I suppose, we've helped each other in the years, he showed me what it was like to take risks and I basically forced him to do his homework, or falling that, would do it for him. The funny thing is, I always had a bit of a soft side for Samuel, I was young and couldn't help it-- in my eyes he was always there and my heart seemed to reckon that made him someone I could love. We went to the Yule Ball together, I made myself beautiful for him -as he was my "date"- and was pretty much heartbroken when all he said was "nice dress" and then went and started flirting with some beauxbatons student. That night I told myself I'd never forgive him, but then the next day he was my sweet best friend again. So, we continued to be friends, I went to every Quidditch match and made my throat sore by yelling for him-- never a flicker of gratitude or acknowledgement, just "my friend Stella". After a while, I grew tired and --by this time we were in our sixth year-- asked him to go to Hogsmeade with me as it was Christmas (and you tell the truth). He seemed excited, seemed exactly, I waited in the freezing cold snow for an hour before I gave up and I left to go home without saying little as a word to him. Mum understood, she was lovely as always and gave me hugs whenever he crossed my mind and told me, maybe, that he only felt platonic love toward me, no matter how honest -painful- it was to hear. After that I promised her that I wouldn't let it get to me and actually kissed another boy once back in Hogwarts. Samuel just poked me and sang that annoying k-i-s-s-i-n-g song, without even mentioning that day in Hogsmeade-- no apology, nothing. That hurt, but I ignored it and forced it away until it was pretty much gone, but then... it happened, mum's death. Samuel took me back to the common room after I was told and spent hours with me, not bothered that he was mising quidditch practice and dinner. He was the reason I stayed, I finally had my best friend back... He didn't come over that summer, which I was grateful for-- but came to the funeral and comforted me in the way my father couldn't. I kissed him after the funeral, through my tears and he was poliete enoungh not to bring it up, instead just said "it's fine, you were upset" and would laugh at the thought of me liking him... So fast forwad to this year, I, at last, have found the perfect person for me and instead of being happy for me, he's being a real jerk and hasn't been himself at all..."
