the quidditch pitch The quidditch pitch is viewable from nearly every window in Hogwarts, except on the directly opposite side of the building. the forbidden forest The forest is thick with trees, as well as undergrowth such as knotgrass and thorns -- but there are paths, brooks, and some clearings. the whomping willow The Whomping Willow is a very valuable, very violent tree planted alone in the middle of the school grounds. It was planted the same year that Lupin arrived at Hogwarts to disguise the opening to a secret passage from Hogwarts to the Shrieking Shack. Lupin would go through a hole in the Willow's roots every month to transform into a werewolf in the Shack where he couldn't hurt anyone. care of magical creatures The Care of Magical Creatures classes are scheduled in numerous locations throughout the grounds, depending on the creature being studied. A majority of the classes take place in the paddock near the gamekeeper's hut.	0	0	-- In: ---- By:
the lake The lake is located south of the castle, and is approximately half a mile in diameter. The lake is murky, you can't see the bottom. It contains different types of creatures, including grindylows, merfolk, and the infamous giant squid.	0	0	-- In: ---- By:
the lawns Upon entering the front gates of Hogwarts, you'll see sprawling green lawns that go on forever, only occasionally broken up by something in the landscape.
