I just caught this episode on the Food Network--and I haven't laughed so hard in ages. All kinds of irreverent fun with Regency customs and food.

And gleefully vulgar behaviour from the hosts. ^__^

"She's worth about three pounds a year." Cue girl trying to look eligible while she's got pudding smeared on her face:

"I've got the feeling that I challenged somebody to a duel--I don't really remember."

The clash of two people having snarky fun in Regency costumes and tooling around in sports cars and red light districts is awesome.

Tuesday's Dress: A simple empire-waisted gown in muslin with a narrow band of lace trimming the square neckline. Her short puffed sleeves are also trimmed in lace. Over her shoulders is a patterned silk shawl. She carries a straw bonnet trimmed in small blue flowers.

The guy is sad in the end because he's realized he looks so much better as a Regency dandy, and he really does. He's nothing much in jeans and a t-shirt, but with those sideburns and a fluffy white shirt and cravat--whew. rolleyes.gif

Also I don't know if it was this episode, or perhaps the Victorian or Edwardian one where there's a brief montage of Giles walking down some streets and they flash upon first the sign for Cornhill Street and then Birchin Lane a moment later and I had to rewind it while I was bellowing "Whoa. WHOA. That's where--! WHOA."
