    ` ` the marionette

    other:
To describe Jack would be impossible, because it is nearly improbable to even know where to start. The first thing you would notice would probably be his skin tone. His skin is a warm honey, tinted only by the sun and his Filipino heritage. The second thing you would notice would be his smile, because it lights up a room. Unfortunately, Jack isn’t known to smile often, so you won’t see this feature enough. But when you did, you’d notice that his teeth are perfectly aligned, without dental help. He doesn’t think too highly of them; in fact, he tends to point out more often that not that they aren’t indeed perfect, but in fact tainted by the amount of coffee he drinks. But they’re not overly impaired.

His hair falls thickly around his neck and in his eyes, black waves of straight strands that always seem to either be in the way or thrown askew somehow. Jack often notes how his hair is often a nuisance and should be cut, but he never “gets around to it”. His procrastination habits seem to always get the better of him. His body is slim and slender, but not overly so. His arms are toned from years of playing tennis, and his chest and stomach flat from his morning runs. He holds his physical form in high regard, and insists upon himself that he work to keep it up. He had a chubby childhood, and refuses to go back to that. Jack is also rather short in stature, a mere 5’6” in height, because of his Asian background. He doesn’t exactly enjoy that fact, but doesn’t mind if a girl is the same height as he; he is slightly annoyed when he has to look up to a girl, though.

    overall personality:
Jack Kolden is probably one of those people that you don’t see very often. When you don’t know him, he’ll be that guy that sits in the back row of the classroom, mindlessly fiddling with a pen or a pair of sunglasses with his fingers. When you first start to get to know him, he comes across as somewhat shy and standoff-ish. In fact, he tends to keep to himself when he’s bored or annoyed. He won’t go talking to just anybody. And when you have him as a friend, he’ll be the guy that jokes around and laughs a lot. But when you have him as an enemy, Jack will be the one with the smart ass, sarcastic remarks. He won’t keep himself from fighting if he knows that they had it coming, but will avoid it otherwise. It isn’t often that you piss him off; but if you ask stupid questions, he tends to become annoyed quickly. He tries to stay in intellectual company so he stays away from stupid questions.

Jack also has an antagonistic though somewhat apathetic personality. If you tell him not to do something, he’ll probably end up trying to do it anyway. This tends to become a problem when a his enemies or teachers tell him not to do something, because he’ll probably do it. Jack also has a high intellect, but you won’t find him in the library often, never mind studying. He finds that his intellect comes easily, and he doesn’t really have to work that hard to understand certain things.

And when Jack finds interest in a female, he shows it; though mostly not right away, because he’s been hurt in the past. When Jack finds love, he loves with his whole being. It’s almost amazing how loyal he is with his relationships. With each of his relationships, they’ve all ended because the females either aren’t loyal or have ended it. And with each broken heart, Jack has learned to pick his females carefully, as to not have to go through the hell he did with each of the other girls.

    sisters: None.
    brothers: None.

    overall history:
Jack Kolden was born on February 20th, a hot day in Monterey, California. His mother, Malaya de la Cruz, was originally Filipino. She met and married Jack’s father, Christopher Kolden and made a move to Minnesota, where Christopher originally grew up. Nine months after getting married, they bore Jack, a bouncing baby boy; or, maybe not so much. He grew up as a quiet child, and often kept to himself, keeping busy with card games and video games. His mother, Malaya, left Christopher at the age of 5, leaving him to take care of Christopher himself. The two of them moved to a more populous area of the state called St. Paul, MN.

During Jack’s first two years of elementary school, he kept to himself, therefore avoiding any sort of awkward confrontations. He did make a few friends along the way, never did become too involved in anything but class. He’d often sit by himself during his free time, not bothering to make friends and play on any gym equipment. He wasn’t very outgoing.

Middle school: pure and utter torture. Three years of sitting at lunch alone; three painful years of going an entire school day without even using his voice, unless called upon in class. After the final bell rang, he went home to waste the rest of the day in front of his television playing video games. He rarely picked up a book, nevermind study. He had few friends: mostly just people who were in the school band. And even those people had other people they’d rather converse with. And girls? Hah. Girls were untouchable: he could look all he wanted, but to them, he was (almost literally) invisible. Next chapter.

During his freshman year, he finally mustered up the courage to ask out his two year crush. She turned him down politely. He was crushed, and delved into his studies to get his mind off of her. He soon got over her (if you call 6 months soon), but knew that he wouldn’t be able to mend that whole where his first infatuation had been. After that, he had been careful where to tread as to not become infatuated as easily again. Unfortunately, in his junior year, he met a girl that was a year older than himself. Her name was Nadia Selvera, and he fell hard. Soon after becoming friends with her, he asked her to go with him to the upcoming Halloween dance. She accepted, and they were together his entire junior year until she broke it off. She was graduating from high school, and didn’t want him to be hurt when she left. In his mind, he understood; but in his heart, he knew that she still had feelings for him and he for she. They continued to correspond occasionally, but he holds a place in his heart for her, even as his eye wanders to other females. If she ever came back to him, he would have his preferred ending. But if she didn’t, he knew that he’d at least made the most of the time they spent together. During the late part of his junior year, he started to open up a bit more. He met new people, and even made a couple friends. He joined the tennis team, and found that he was actually rather good. He graduated the next year, happy that he had made the most of his last years of high school.

After he left high school, he started at a prestigious college called Edgar Bedford. He started with majoring in Music and minoring in Computer Science. As soon as he started, he knew he would be happy here. He excelled in his classes through his freshman and sophomore years, and is looking forward to his third year here.
