I am so pleased to have discovered the forum because hopefully it may help in my search for info on my great grandfather Patrick Ormsby Reg number 33017.
I have a scribbled piece of paper with his pension number dated may 1st 1896. £2 per week pension. ( pension number DF 2400) I presume would be paid to his wife and young family while he was away on duties. I believe he was born in County Durham and while on duty in Dublin met and married around 1890 Catherine Hickey. On the Dublin 1911 cencus his wife and family appear but he does not so I assume again he must have been away from home or at Barracks? It might be that I will indeed have to go to Kew to further my search but would really appreciate if anyone can advance some small piece of information to me. Kind regards Aileen, |
