and make sure that the shout box is well maintained for violators
How would you do that? We don't even have at least one member at a time here normally...
As for the "I hope it gets the forum active again", so do I, but I doubt that will happen. The forum was only really active during DR1 when many people were trying to solve it. Those who had already solved it stayed to use the other parts of the forum while helping others. The way that DR2 is set up makes it hard for people to help others on specific parts of a chapter without giving away other parts. And, at least I belive, DR2 was much worse than DR1 causing less people to want to do it.
All that said, unless I hear a reason why the forum would be worse off with one, (I did not read through all of the posts though) I dont see why not.

Well, I think that this poll is going to go down like this. A 2/3 majority must be in favor of a shoutbox in order to get one. The catch is, it has to be 2/3 of the total member count of the board.
Feel free to claim that this is unfair...
Unfair! Unfair! 2/3 of 826 (as of now)? How about 2/3 of active users, or those with X number of posts. There are a lot more users now then before, so I think that this goal should be revised.
(Sorry about the double post, but I wanted to quote this)

Someone's sorry here. It just struck me that I ticked both boxes and voted with both answers. And I'm supposed to check only the 'No' box. Am I retarded?
In my opinion having a shoutbox wouldn't help that much. I mean, okay everyone who's online could talk to other people and ask for help and get answers right away without having to wait for a couple of days. But since very few people are going online these days (only the active and energetic ones ), the shoutbox would be ignored for a while. And it could go off topic. Then it would be just like Yahoo Messenger or something else. If that's the case, why not add friends there and keep this site just like this? Hmmm..
But adding a shoutbox could possibly help persuade members to go online. Well I don't really know. I don't really know which side I should choose if you want to know the truth. Try convincing me for a while.

If we did have a shoutbox, I think it would probably be best if it only came online every now and then (say, once a week). That way, it wouldn't completely take over the forum, and perhaps it would even be fun.
However, there is already a Dracula's Riddle irc channel, and I also feel like wallowing in my own laziness for at least a little while.

I sit in that channel all day and hardly anyone gets on. People should!! its free and you get to talk to all the forum people, box and anyone else who comes in. Go Here to see how to get in.
In my opinion based on the activity in the IRC channel, not many people would use the shoutbox
