Only songs I'm having problem with is the last ones on expert. Haven't played in a long time though.

AvonPaintball - May 29, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Jeese... I'm struggling through hard mode right about now...

(But, I mean, it's only been a few days...)

How long did it take you guys to master expert?

I don't have the game myself. Only played it at friends house. But it takes some time to get your fingers push automatically so you don't have to think. :P

iggy_killer - May 29, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
they already announced guitar hero 3...which i cant wait for cause they have it for the wii...my friend said they are going to add a special feature to the controls of the game...based on how you are moving while you play the game...which i hope so. i already go crazy when i play :D

Melody Kitn - May 29, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)

I actually beta tested GH2 for the 360 (sadly, I left my job shortly after I started, so I'm probably not in the credits... again.)

Funny enough, I couldn't play with the guitars... I could however play on the controller (including expert ^^) so I tested mostly with the controller.

iggy_killer - May 29, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
i couldn't imagine playing on a controller...i mean i do alternative picking when i play so i couldn't press the up and down buttons that fast

That sounds great. My poor Wii has been collecting dust ever since I finished off Twilight Princess for the second time.... More importantly, Neversoft (the new developer for GH) has been hinting at some Zeppelin, ACDC and Metallica! (About damn time.)

Melody, I'll check the credits when I get a chance (it's an achievement for 360-folk).

We need a Video Games board...

Melody Kitn - May 30, 2007 10:55 AM (GMT)
Thanks Avon.. check under the Activision testers, which is where I worked under. I pretty much saw the alphas of a lot of the games, and put some testing time, but because I did eventually leave, there's chances my name isn't in there.

Tony Hawk *shudder*, the recent one, I definitely tested and know I didn't get my name in... supposedly it's cause I got into the project at the last minute, which I guess I can forgive, lol... Call of Duty 3 was the other one where I didn't get my name in... then again, do I really wanna be associated with that one? *laughs*

*shudder* ? I didn't mind that game at all. (But you can't beat the original)

And no, you don't want to be associated with any CoD game that isn't Infinity Ward material. Have you seen CoD4? It looks amazing; Finally, no more WWII!

Melody Kitn - May 30, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
The older Tony Hawk generation games were great, three being fantastic, but the latest release killed customization of characters for some cheesy slo-mo stuff... it also didn't feel as open to me as the previous ones... le sigh.

Yeah, my first ever project was COD2 for the debut 360 back in the day... I must admit, I had fun with it. I never really played first person shooters cause I sucked at them, but my coworkers and teammates turned me into a pretty decent support person with a kar94 shot.

I did have fun back in the day testing that one.. too bad I did get stuck on it for so long I didn't get to test much else... almost a year on that one game alone!

AvonPaintball - May 30, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
What a sweet job.

*Goes to play some CoD2*

...

*Decides that GHII is more important*

AvonPaintball - June 1, 2007 01:04 AM (GMT)
Rock Band!

...Wow...

- 4 person multiplayer
- online capabilities
- drum peripheral
- mic peripheral
- entire catalogs of songs by an artist
- Keep your old GH guitar peripherals for guitar and bass (and even possibly keyboard)
- To be released this holiday season!

mookystank - June 1, 2007 03:00 AM (GMT)
i can play every song but jordan on expert... i just dont see the pattern to that at all. seems like random button presses to me. o.o

but i'm a drummer, so rock band is making me cry in anticipation. ;_; + :D

iggy_killer - June 1, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
i think we need some protest the hero and coheed and cambria....that would be pretty amazing....

(and fun to watch everyone squirm trying to get through)

Now is the perfect time to let Harmonix know what kind of songs you are looking for in the upcoming Rock Band game. Sign up here and you can add suggestions to their forum.

Take a look around that website, and you'll see that Harmonix is working with a bunch of record companies, MTV and Fender to get loads of songs into the game. And they better if this is actually going to sell for their predicted $300. It'll be worth it; Can't wait.

mookystank - June 1, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
the website just screwed up on me... while i was signing up, it had an error, so i tried again and was given a message that i was already a member. so i tried to login and then it tells me - i'm not a member. o.O

wth.

Melody Kitn - June 1, 2007 10:42 PM (GMT)
Nah, wasn't as sweet as most folks think. I was one of the lucky ones, but imagine if you were stuck on a game you wouldn't play, let alone even buy... and be forced to test it for weeks, even weekends! Yeah, it got tired fast, and you were too busy looking for bugs or going through checklists to actually have fun with the game. And then there's listening to the same dialogue for the umpteenth time that it gets stuck in your head for eternity...

"Sergeant Randall!! The guns aren't here!!"

"What?!"

"The guns aren't here!!"

*shiver*

mookystank - June 12, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
craaaaaap

That's got to be the worst part about a 360.
There may be a cheaper option (I don't really know the price of one, but) - Those rotary disk cleaners can do wonders for scratched up disks. (I don't really know what they're called either I guess...)

I've begun my adventure through GHII expert... It's pretty ugly so far...

mookystank - June 13, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)
oh trust me - this one is past cleaning. i'd say its a good half-cm thick stripe ALL THE WAY around the disc thats scratched.

good luck on expert!!! the game is 1000 times more fun when you get to where expert is in your comfort zone. :D

I bet. I can't handle most of the solos, so I try to spice it up by kicking over chairs and bashing friends with the guitar, but the game doesn't register that kind of rock-tastic-ness...

mookystank - June 13, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
LMAO
well to get good at solos i practiced the sliding manuevers - the notes with a lit center that you dont have to strum on. then you can move your fingers at the right speed and strum at a steady rhythm just in case you miss one. also, keep in mind that sometimes its VERY helpful to just hold a low button down. (like the final solo on message in a bottle, holding down green makes it very easy.) eventually you'll see the patterns in it and just do it.

actually one of the simplest things has been driving me mad lately... the solo from free bird that looks like this:
----O
--O-
O---
--O-
----O
--O-
O---
--O-
----O
--O-
O---

i simply cant get that middle finger to cooperate. ><

AvonPaintball - June 13, 2007 10:55 AM (GMT)
I can do those (hammer on and pull off?) pretty well if they're all in a row from green up to orange or vice versa. It's when I have to jump from green to orange or throw chords in there.
Ever since I got GHII it seems everyone in Avon has picked it up. Right after my engineering exam today at school I'm off to kick my friend's ass in his own house; Better not have any furniture near me ;)

iggy_killer - June 13, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
^^haha yeah...i get pretty vicious playing guitar...i usually have to get my space to do some sick windmill headbanging. i just got done playing for about 2 hours...that was great since i haven't played in awhile

mookystank - June 13, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
Avon: best way to learn is to do it. do you have the xbox or PS2 version? if you have xbox i strongly recommend the trooper by iron maiden, if PS2 then go for less talk more rokk or hangar 18. at this point, you may not be able to beat hangar 18, but itll GREATLY increase your solo abilities if you start to get into the song.less talk more rokk is basically one giant hammer on/pull off song, itll help you get them faster. :D

-------------------------

also, does anyone happen to know approximate trade-in values for old xbox games? i'm trading in about 20 that i never play in order to get me another GH disc...

if anyone knows, please send me a PM!!!

I AGREE COMPLETELY.

i love video games. :D :D :D

AvonPaintball - June 14, 2007 12:19 AM (GMT)
I'm on an Xbox, so I'll begin practicing some Iron Maiden then.
I played the PS2 version today, and what a piece of crap. It just seemed slower; When I strummed to the music it was on time, but the visuals on the TV were definitely delayed.

(By the way: I am not a fan of Sony at all. APBforums)

mookystank - June 14, 2007 02:48 AM (GMT)
although i do somewhat agree with you, i have to somewhat justify the PS2's loss in this instance - the developers enhanced the game for xbox. they made the visuals better, better sound quality, and more songs. so this isnt ENTIRELY PS2's fault.

yet the fact still remains - xbox > ps2

AvonPaintball - June 14, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Understood. PS2 was a great system, but I'll never buy it.

No one should EVER take my opinions too seriously though ;)

Note that I said I'll never buy it. A friend of mine is giving me his PS2 this summer so that I can experience all the great games from the last generation - God of War, Rachet and Clank... um... What else is there?

(We need that video games thread!)
