I found Kévin Ouellet ROL4!
http://omnimaga.unitedti.org/index_v1.html I don't like the style. He use text for persons and sprites for monsters. Maybe he wanted to do something new though |

Any progress is good, even if its just on paper. And besides, personal stuff is more important than calc programming (at least for normal people

Welcome back, Da DJ. Is it ok if I call you da DJ?
Any chance of some battle animations for attacking other than the characters moving forward? For example, someone with a sword will have an animation of a sword slashing downwards, while someone with a dagger will have an animation of a dagger stabbing the enemy. Kind of like in TVF... -------------------- ![]() Current Projects: -Learning 83+ assembly (10%) -Setting up calc84maniac's on-calc assembler (postponed) -Working on a secret project (5%) Working on... -Learning 83+ assembly: On Day 7 in Learn ASM in 28 Days and still trying to get over my lazy streak -Setting up the on-calc assembler: Decided it is better to code assembly on a computer -Secret project: planning how I will make it, waiting for summer |

it is a speciality of the series, which means it wont be removed. However this game has more kind of orbs

Still, I don't really like the idea of having to spend money every single time you cast a spell or use an ability. Methinks there should be some way for one or all classes to create the weakest orb in the game when they have reached a high level.

Why wouldn't I? I have almost all the Illusiat games on my comp and RL3, too. What I mean by creating the weakest orbs is that spellcasters will be able to use their weakest spells even if they have no money. After, spellcasters are not supposed to be good fighters, so their damage is pretty pitiful except when they cast spells. If they were to cast even the weakest of their spells, they might catch up to Fighters somewhat in dealing damage every turn. And don't forget, making an orb takes up a battle turn... To make my opinion more clear, say your party's fighter deals 100 damage on each attack. Your spellcasters can deal 250 damage if they use their strongest orb, but when attacking normally (like a fighter) they can only deal 35 damage. However, their weakest orb can also deal 100 damage, but to create it the spellcasters need to use up one battle turn, effectively decreasing the damage to 50 per turn: Still lower than the fighter's 100 damage per turn, but at least higher than their normal attacks. Of course, they can hoard up their weakest orbs during some easy battles, but even then it's just 100 damage per turn, which is exactly the same as the fighter's DPT (damage per turn).

Yeah i understand what you mean, but I said this because i will not change the orb system, no matter if people want to force me to do so or not, those not happy with the current one will have to deal with the current one, sorry. Thank for the suggestion though.
Why I'm not changing is because i think this will make the game too easy. At beginning I always want it harder to buy orbs, but then enemies start giving more money, so after 15 battles leveling up or so you'll be able to buy a dozen of fire orbs for next trip in a dungeon, not to mention that (if you didn't noticed alerady in previous RL games) enemies gives orbs as reward for defeating them sometimes, like in final fantasy you can win items after battle, and in most RL games I made early enemies give lot of fire orbs, so you didn't even need to buy them. I remember once I was leveling up for a long while and I ended up with about 35 fire orbs for free. Oh yeah, and in RL2, RL3 and RL4 you can steal orbs from enemies so yeah. Don't worry, you wont get much money pb to buy orbs, so you'll be able to stock up quickly, especially since early orbs are much less expensive in RL4 than previous games -------------------- |
