Bingó! Ég tala bara íslensku, ensku og japansku. Ég er að læra þýsku.

I have to say that visually that is perhaps one of the oddest looking languages I have ever seen.(that uses a roman alphabet) Comparatively I have not see anything similar. It looks very interesting and I imagine it would be fairly difficult for someone of a non-similar language group to learn.

It's not really odd, if you're referring to the thorn character. (ð / þ) The sound is basically the same as "th" in English.

Icelandic also uses accented characters to indicate particular tones, like many non-English languages do. Unfortunately with English, you have to memorize the unique pronunciation of each vowel depending on the word it appears in. For example, why is the "ei" in weight and height pronounced differently? The "ei" dipthong is usually pronounced "ay" (as in weight) in most European languages, save for German. So based on etymology, I guess "height" is borrowed from German. Too bad English doesn't use accented vowels to indicate the etymological differences it's littered with.

I think most people would complain about speaking Icelandic, rather than spelling it. It's very "rigid" compared to English and its Latin similarities. Strangely, Old English was very close to Icelandic, before Latin began to influence it in another direction entirely. English even used a runic alphabet once upon a time. tongue.gif

yes, those are the characters I meant specifically but also the general layout of the language. Languages have always intrigued me. I actually did some reading up on the icelandic languages roots on wikipedia and it appears that it is derived from old germanic (which is also part of english roots) which explains why icelandic and old english would have similarities.
I assume the "sku" is like the "ish: in the words english and spanish. So you speak; icelandic, english and japanese? and I assume the last part of the post says and some " "(where " " is another language, perhaps thai?;þý=th right?)

Japanese would be a distant third. I've never used it in situational speech, so I can't comment on how effectively I speak it. tongue.gif

The last part says, "I want to learn German." (þýsku = German language)

EDIT: Oh, hey. Check out one of my old translations projects:
