Hello People !
This is a little scene i wrote. It is part of my Oni2 storyline.
Read yourself and tell my your ideas about it. Short prelude: Whole thing takes place about four years after Oni1. Mai had succesfully shut down most of the athmospheric processors. After she finds out that only the processor in Neo-Tokyo was doing his job she joins a group of resistance against the WCG.
The mainchar (Aramus Lindtvail) has become a TCTF-Agent. On a mission he gets into contact with a group called People's Will or Free Will I haven't decided how to call them yet. This group is fighting against the WCG.
He accepts to work for them to spy on the WCG. Some weeks later he get's visited by Konoko(she calls herself by her old name Mai). During her visit the TCTF arrives trying to fetch both Mai and Aramus. they escape towards the elevators. Here starts my story:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...
Another TCTF-Trooper came running upstairs. He hadn't noticed Aramus because he was hidden in a blind spot around the corner. Aramus took his chance made a few quick steps forward until he was right behind the man. He jumped up spinned around his body and smashed his heel onto the man's head. The force of the kick made the agent tremble forward. He turned around trying to aim his gun at Aramus who sent it flying with a kick at the hand.
The agent made a reverse spin to hit him with the back of his hand. Aramus parried the punch easily swunging back his right hand. Too late Aramus noticed that it was only a feint. A steel cladded fist hit him in the chest. The punch lifted him a few centemetres up and pushed him backwards where he felt on the floor. Coughing for breath he raised holding his chest with pain. Behind his opponent Mai and the other agent were handing out punches and kicks to each other. But it was no good time to pay attention to them. His own foe came laughing at him. Ignoring the burning pain in his chest he backed away from his opponent lowering his body, drawing his right hand back. As the man came within reach he faked an uppercut with his left hand to give his right hand an exposed target. As his right hand hit the chin he jumped up with all might knocking the agent off backwards. His enemy was still in the air when he jumped onto him. A last weak scream as the agent and Aramus on top of him landed on the floor and his opponent lost hin conscious.
Mai had already defeated her opponent and watched the last seconds of the fight. She smiled him then turned around and made her way towards the elevators. As Aramus passed the staircase he saw more troopers running up the stairs.
"We have no time to loose. Come on!" said Mai who seemed to have noticed them too.
They begun running the fifty metres to the elevators. They were about halfway to them when the troopers behind them started to open fire. 'Their accuracy is above average, definitely' Aramus thought as he felt bullets whizzing by and hailing onto his armor. Suddenly he recognized that Mai in front of him had no armor. He was hurrying after her so he held of most of the bullets by chance but a few passed him and vanished in her woolen pullover leaving black holes where they went through. For a second he saw her trembling, falling like his friend did three years ago but she kept on running to the elevators. Luckily one of the them came upwards and halted on their level opening the doors. A civilian stepping out of the elevaor was hit by several bullets and thrown backwards against the wall leaving blood trails as he dropped down. Mai sped past him into the cabin pressing the "Close-Door"-button. Aramus reached the door in time to slip right through it.
Skull who had spent most of the time running behind Aramus almost got his tail squeazed between the doors. The doors shut behind them they had a few seconds of pause. Mai was bleeding heavily from the injuries caused by the bullets. Her breathing was fast and hissing. She rummaged in her pockets and pulled out a hypospray. A few seconds after the injection the wounds stopped bleeding and her breathing calmed down. Then she went to the control pannel and sent the elevator to the roof.
"To the roof? How are we supposed to get away from there?" Aramus asked her.
Instead of answering Mai stepped to the rear wall of the elevator and begun ramming her fists into it. After six or seven hits she managed to breach through the solid walls of carbonfiber enhanced steel. She pulled the hole wide untill it was big enough for a man to slip through.
"Now. Get through grab yourself one of the ropes and slip down." she said while she handed him a pair of glooves.
"The car basement will be empty and it's exit is a bit offwards from the main-entreance."
Aramus slipped through the hole and grabbed one of the ropes carrying the counter-weight of the elevator. He folded his legs around the rope and started to make his way down.
His jeans were almost rubbed through from breaking and even wearing protective glooves hadn't safed his fingers burning with pain when he finally landed on the basement. He looked up and after he saw Mai was preparing herself to come down he stepped to the door to open it. Mai had waited for him to reach the ground and then slipped through the elevators wall too. Meanwhile it had almost reached the uppest floor. She winded her belt around the rope placed her feet against it and pushed her body away from it. Then in an instant she took her feet from the rope an begun to slip down held only by her belt winded around the rope. Without restraint she was speeding downwards. About ten metres above the ground she let go of the belt and balanced herself for the landing. Cushing her speed like a cat she landed two metres in front of Aramus making less noise than he had expected. She let go of Skull whom she had taken under her arm. As Mai had guessed the car basement was empty apart from a group of bums. They were drunk and showed no interest in the two hurrying away. On the outside however were people gathering in front of the main-entreance awaiting the police forces to come out with the suspects arrested. Fortunatly they were to focussed on the main-entreance to notice Mai, Aramus and his dog. They had already cornerd the quarter when TCTF-Troops came running out of the basement searching the surroundings for them.
...
Sorry for mistakes in language grammar and spelling i'm not used to english that much. hope you liked it though.
Please tell me want you liked or not. thanks.
Sincerly Aramus

Your story contains some good fast-paced action and suspense, but i don't understand a couple of things :

*) Aramus works for the TCTF, and the TCTF works for the WCG - whilst Free Will/People's Will is a group of insurgents. I don't get why Aramus chooses to work for a group of insurgents to "spy on the WCG", as he already works for them thru TCTF ? Wouldn't it be more appropriate if Aramus is just a TCTF Agent who infiltrated into Free Will/People's Will on TCTF's orders because they want to destroy the organization - but they first need information to do this, and Aramus needs to obtain that for them.

**) i'm not really sure what Aramus's objectives and motivations are : is a TCTF infiltrator or just someone who broke away from TCTF or someone who's using TCTF for his own plans?

***) Why does Konoko need hyposprays? She's a chrysalite who completed her final stage in the end of Oni 1, hence i thought she'd be pretty much impossible to harm due to an extremely high rate of regeneration?

I was also wondering why Skull didn't help his boss whilst he was in trouble vs that TCTF guy... of course it depends on the type of dog Skull is - a nasty dobermann or rottweiler would swiftly help his boss, but for instance a labrador wouldn't...

Anyway, keep on posting your stories. It's interesting.

Well I'll try to explain most of the things that were not clear. Normally their explained in the episode i cut off.
1.) Aramus works indeed for the TCTF(WCG) at the beginning. But after a few mission on which most of his comrades turn out to be sadists, threating and mistreating their victims he becomes unsure if he is doing the right thing. He tell's his chief (not the big boss only kind of sub-chief) about his comrades. Well what he doesn't know is that this one works for the PW. After a trap at one of their mission he is asked either to join them or not. As one of his non-sadistic joins them he decides to do it as well. (I hope i get that part of the story finished soon!)

2)
Well Konoko using hypos:
I thought that even in her final stage she is not in the "Super-Doadan"-mode but in some kind of between stage. So she is indeed regenerating her body, but only in a "slow" way. If she get's his by a larger amount of projectiles she has to use hypos. Well i'll look if i cut this out to.

3. Skull is a small white Bull-terrier. Like the one in Commandos 2. But i decided to give him only a minor part.

Wait, This confuses me. Are YOU Aramus?

This is true. The "Daodan Spike" she has at the end that knocks everybody down, symbolizes her "transformation" from human to chrysalis being. Or as geyser would say, to a Butterfly...

Well
while Underdog is my forums name and my ego-shooter name, Aramus Lindtvail is my RPG-Name.
I don't really know why i used this name in the story but i'll keep on that one.

Another question about the Chrysalis:
1. Does Konoko glow now that she is in her final chrysalis stage??
2. In the last level (outside) Konoko drops down from the sky. Where does she come from?? Had she jumped up over the fence? cause it seems she is falling about at least 100 metres down.

Sincerely

1) i think after her she completed her final chrysalis stage, that she is able to overpower at will, instead of having to use a hypospray. So i don't think she'd continually grow - only when she's overpowered.

Remember the final video of the game : in that video Konoko doesn't glow, although she's a Imago Chrysalis.

2) I don't know. Perhaps she hijacked a plane or helicopter and jumped out from there. Or maybe she again made use of the glider from the beginning of level 7.

Nice story. I especially enjoyed the action scene.

Just curious: Which end of Oni's storyline are you starting from? The Mutant Muro or non-Mutant Muro part? Wouldn't make much of a difference, though... or would it? Or perhaps the story remains the same both ways?

Like Virumor said, she wouldn't glow permanently. She will probably glow only if she activates it by her own will or use a hypo spray.

Muro (unmutated) seem to be able to activate the glowing, even though he didn't use a hypo spray as far as we can tell. It could either be because he could activate the shield at will or simply because the game does not have a 'use-hypo' animation.

Anyway, Mutant Muro's invincibility shield should be the glow's equivalent in the mutant stage. At his current stage he cannot sustain the shield/glow for prolong periods of time. Might Konoko have similar powers? Could she be near invincible if her glow/shield is on?

Of course, that invincibility shield might just be a Muro-only power. The mutant stage reflects the host's true nature, and Muro's desire for invincibility might be reflected in this shield.

Anyway, are you continuing the story? If so, I'm looking forward to it! smile.gif

I think Mutant Muro's shield is the equivalent of the 'boss shield' that normal Muro, Mukade and Barabas (in level 6) possess.

Mutant Muro's shield, if he is played by the player, is activated using 'chenille'.

But then 'chenille' comes with a boss-shield as well as the glow, and the glow around 'chenille' does not have the same properties as an overpowered glow; ie, one does not get additional strength using 'chenille'.

Well it really makes no difference to the story for in my story i abridged the ending of ONI1.
While the outro reveals that she had failed to stop the athmospheric processors to pollute the air worldwide I changed that so only the athospheric processor in Neo-Tokyo polluted a large area around NTokyo. Konoko however as she is walking around in NT thinks she failed. a few months later she meets up with some other people of an anti-WCG-Group by accident. She joins up with them and fights against the WCG.

The months in lonelyness during the three months in NeoToky(which was totally deserted) didn't go by without marks. Konoko gets depressed
More on her character later on gotta go eats something!!

Didn't the one in Neo-Tokyo (Where shinatam blows up) already get destoryed? Read the diary. Say that "any more shake-ups and this whole place will come down". after that, Shinatama blows up. You guess what happens.

As siad by Kerr : "Whatever your final form, it will be a symbol of your TRUE NATURE

So : Muro's greatest desire was rule the world, thus EVIL so he became a mutant. His desire to be immortal gave him the shield, which makes him very-nearly immortal. If he had transformed eariler, then Mai would not have been able to hurt him at all, as his transformation was complete, thus making him Immortal, fulfilling his desire.

Therefore : If Mai's true nature was to be immortal (in at least one portion), then se would have something similar. If she didn't, then she would not. As the Imago stage reflects the host's True Nature, it is shaped by your wants. If greates desire to be human, then she will remain human, but will still have ceratian powers.

Its not the same. You will notcie that Mutant's shield glows less brightly, and he can be killed by touchofdeath. You can't if you're shield is on.

Mutant's shield prevents 90% of ALL damage. the only way to hurt him with it on is to drop him off a cliff or touchofdeath him.

Boss shields are just weaker forms of Force-Shields which never run out. They serve to stop you from grenading Mukade or Muro to death in 2 shots, as there are SBGs in these levels. (same goes with mercury bows). They want you to fight the bosses, not shoot them down. Level3 barabas has no shield, because there are no big guns other than the WMC.

Story-Wise, they play no part.

So, the Chrysalis 'records' both his desires and his nature. His desire for invincibility gave him the shield and his evil nature gave him his terrible visage.

Yes. Chenille-generated glows are always brighter than the real thing. For what reason this is so I have no idea.

Mutant Muro's shield is cool, though, when turned on in that you wouldn't be interrupted halfway through when doing your move, which is something even 'unstoppable mode' cannot do.

You're right. Boss shields only lessen the blow of weapons a two-shot kill by a Mercury Bow might become an eight-shot one with the shield on. The low side of these shields is that they cannot stop a weapon completely, unlike the actual force shields.

The plus point is that it cannot be drained away.

Story-wise, is was once a common belief that boss shields are found on Chrysalites, and hence Mukade and Barabas should most likely be Chrysalites themselves. Unfortunately, though, Barabas does not have the boss shield in Level 3 and so this belief didn't stand very well.

So, it should be like you have said: Bungie just wanted to encourage hand-to-hand instead of weapon usage because it would have been too easy otherwise.
