Well, I guess I don't really have any ideas or stories for scripts. Usually the scripts I have written are for my own use for, you know, character experimentations...

Well it's a good thing I've finally registered, with some good news.
Hi everyone, and ain't it great to have the forum back! I heard about the cancellation, never got a chance to post... and so on (busy with school) But now I've been trying to finish my latest script, and I've got a bit more time on my hands. So I'll have something fresh for everyone to feast on in about two weeks or so. ttyl |

Hello again,
I've finished yet another script. Anyone interested in a really crazy, action-packed plot, play this one. It's available at DDstate Script Let me know your comments. Post here or email me mariachi_bear@hotmail.com |

Nice to know you are still scripting, MB! Is the new script a continuation of the other two you have made or a separate one? I'm in school right now but will try it (hopefully) when I get home.

Yeah, the script is part of a series but I've skipped maybe one or two chapters to get to this one. The state level was easier to script than the mountain compound, and I just couldn't get the storyline right.
Oops, guess I forgot to add more targets. |

@Mariachi Bear:
Yesterday I tested your script. And... wow... it's great. Okay, I don't like it until the second save point, because of no enimies and too much cutscenes (I don't like such stuff). But after that, it's really fantastic. Hordes of enemies and lot's of them with mercury bows. So you have to try to hide yourself and to clear the area with a scream cannon carefully. But this works only indoors. Outdoors there are a lot of snipers and the range of the scream cannon is too low. So you have to try to shoot the snipers with a mecruy bow too. I like your script very much. Wonderful work. Two suggestions: 1. Oni's persist.dat file has space for 10 save points per level. So you can add some save points by yourself easily (save_game save_point:int [type:string{"autosave"}]. Okay, I managed it without new save points, but it was only luck, because some of the snipers missed me. 2. If you enable the weapon fading (wp_disable_fade = 0), it would be more interesting. (Because I often switched between the scream cannon and the mercury bow. So I was happy, that the weapons didn't fade.) |

Ooh! More save points! I didn't know about these
But how can you add them on to the list when you want to load the game? Editing the persist file, I guess? |

I tested this a some time, and works. I think you only need use the command "save_game X autosave". for save the game.

No, that's not necessary. Just do it as SCRIPT10000 has it already said: Write "save_game X autosave" and the game will be saved (X is a number between 0 and 10). After that, you'll find a new save point at the "load" menu screen. If necessary, you can add an entry to the start function: if(save_point eg X) { ... } |

Having new savepoints will be useful, especially in large levels that have savepoints sparsely scattered around.
But it is a little troublesome, since you have to set up the scene to make it the way it was when the game was saved, although Konoko's position, health, ammo, etc, is automatically recorded by the game when the new savepoint is 'declared'. I tried your script yesterday, Mariachi. Since I don't want to give away the details, what I can say is that the enemies were able to keep me on my toes.
I died the first time when the 'hordes of enemies', as described by ssg, attacked. My health was already low enough after accidentally falling down those ramps in the platform and I didn't stand a chance with those enemies. I noticed the message about the supplies room only later. Now I understand why more savepoints are needed... any possibility of adding a third one, possibly before the hordes of enemies appear? Oh... I noticed that the frame-rate dropped quite drastically (at least on my PC) after I was told that the enemies are on high alert. But surprisingly, once I confronted one of the enemies in a room, the framerate returned to normal... And, erm, I actually tried jumping through the laser defenses, forgetting I could deactivate them, just like the original level. I actually managed to get through these defenses; luck, of course. Great Script...but lacking in a way.
the "hordes" were 5 enemies but each armed...so they were enough, but I would have liked to see more muscle and less gun. ps. all outside state characters are multi-spawn - you can spawn mulitple snipers. pps. save points would be nice. i only saw one tho. -------------------- 411 Y0UR B453 4R3 8310NG 2 U5.
