Siana checked her swords. It was a force of habit, to always make sure they were there. She thought it almos comic, as of course they were there, she had not removed them. But old habits died hard.

She walked out on the plaza proper. There were shops and eateries of all kinds. She mostly wanted a chance to unwind. She had been training long and hard. It was time to forget for a moment, as if she ever could, what she was.

She was allowed some freedoms as an initiate to the Deathwatch guards. She could, for instance go here into the plaza. She was not supposed to make a nuisance of herself but neither was she told to hide. She knew she was property of the Empress and bore the name proudly.

She stopped before a tavern she knew and liked, Hand of the Empress. As good a place as any to get a drink. She shoved open the door, entered, and went to the bar. "Root beer," She said, wanting to stay sober for now. The barkeep gave her her brew and she turned to look around, assessing who was in the bar.

Shan was dead tired. He missed flying so, but being der'morat'raken had taken some of that luxury from him, and even nights to go for a simple swig of ale or two was becoming rare. The reports, the duty for the Empress, might she live forever, was getting more onerous as the days passed him by. This was one of his rare free nights, and he wanted to enjoy it so, especially with the threat of the journey to the westlands was fast looming above his head.

He entered the nearest bar he could find, and, finding no vacant tables, he chose to settle in near the counter, where a trainee was sitting. She ordered for rootbeer. Shan waited until the man came to him, and he said, "Ale. A mug, and make it full." He said. Well for him if he ever had another free night with the following weeks of business ahead.

Siana watched the man make his way across the room, finally sitting next to her. She allowed herself to look at him out of one eye, while not appearing to look at all, of course.

He was handsome and rugged, he was of high rank. She watched him order and quickly appeared to be looking elsewhere when he glanced her way. She was awkward around men. Well, men she wasn't training with or fighting. Would he speak to her? How should she respond? She nearly froze just thinking of it.

"Good evening." Shan smiled at the woman, who clearly had the looks of a trainee around her. "Been a tiring day, don't you think?"

(LOL no problem!)

Siana sighed and took another swig of her root beer. "Indeed. I am wiped out." She looked at him appraisingly. He seemed to know some of what she'd been through. Or he merely observed the tired lines around her eyes.

The barkeep came up to them. "Do youse wants something for to eat?" He asked, in a strange rouge voice.

"Sandwich and chips, please." Siana said, turning to the man to see if he would order to.

After the barkeep left, she introduced herself. "I am Siana, Trainee in the Deathwatch guards." She did not extend her hand, as this was not their way.

Shan inclined his head. "Aakarshan Khalid, der'morat'raken." He grinned.
