WELCOME TO NEXUS.
NeXus is an X-Men comics RPG, set in the 616 universe, and set several months after the events of Avalon's fall in late '95. In 2012 after eight years of continuous roleplaying, neXus has officially rebooted. We're considered an advanced RPG, which means all accepted players must have a post that has at least 300 words. We're a canon driven site, which means all players are required to play a canon character before being allowed to apply for an original character.

Hero: noun, plural -roes; a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. A hero can be defined as many things, this is a rather cliché statement, but it fits for the purpose. There are a few things that will always remain the same involving heroes. The first thing is, everybody has got one, and the second thing is, all real life heroes aren’t perfect. The only “perfect” hero is the one who appears on the big screen or small screen and even in the comic books. Heroes will save you, but they will also fail you, keep that in mind no hero is perfect, no matter what façade they put on or how they appear on the outside, no real person is a true hero.

Once a person is given the label of hero the things that they are expected to do sky rocket to un-real proportions. Everyone holds this person to standards that only the comic book heroes could achieve, this may be un-fair because sometimes, some people don’t want that label, but things they do slap it on them without their consent. There was once a young man who was going down a very destructive path. He started out very young doing things that criminals wouldn’t be proud of. He stopped in his evil ways for a short time, but soon enough he was pulled right back in. A girl came into his life and he thought she would change him, she did, for a short time, but soon he felt the desire to fall back into his wicked ways. She fought with him and after weighing the two items he soon realized that the girl was far more important then any other pleasure. He permanently has left his old ways and is happily with this young woman. To the boy, this girl is a hero. She has saved him from many unthinkable consequences. The pair is obviously not perfect, but that’s good enough for him and the girl has a special place in that young man’s heart, the place only a hero can hold.

Some heroes have a very dark side as well. They aren’t the villain, but they are very much the anti-hero you often see in the movies. The one who, doesn’t want to be the hero even though the responsibility has fallen in their lap. We meet the young man once again, before he met the girl, he had a hero, but he found out quickly that some heroes will pick you up, but let you fall right back down. This boy’s father was an amazing man, he was once in the army flying troops over enemy lines and performing dangerous missions. This made the young man proud and now his father was flying for Spectrum Health and saving lives once again. Around the age of fifteen the young man found out his father was filing for divorce. He was never told why until many months later when he discovered that his father had been having an affair with the neighbor. His vision was spinning as his heart was crushed and the place only a hero could hold inside of it withered away. The heroes seemed to all be dead and gone because no one was there to pick up that young boy and that’s the only thing he needed.

Some things are perfect to tell the truth. Comics and movies make the hero flawless in all the right ways and give many people hope for the next day. Marvel Comics and DC Universe depict the hero as someone with powers and few weaknesses they aren’t human for obvious reasons, because humans have flaws and hero cannot have any of those. To give hope a hero must be without fear and be able to stay away from wrong doing. This isn’t much of a challenge when everything that happens is being written out for you and there is nothing to get in the way of the right thing always happening.

Hero: noun, plural -roes; a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. This statement may be cliché, but it sums up the definition of a hero. Heroes take many shapes, sizes and forms, but everyone has one and for the most part they all have flaws. With or without these flaws they have a special place for everyone and that is a hero. No literal definition is necessary; it is all about what one thinks a hero is. If someone is a hero then no questions should be asked, if they are held in that respect by someone they should be held up that high by everyone, because they are, a hero.
