All for coding reasons. What browser do you use and what ad do you currently see underneath the banner? If you're using a script blocker or ad block to block out the ad, let me know that too.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.5.7 (hvent got Snow Leopard yet), using Firefox 3.5.2.

I mostly see ads underneath the banner - currently its a google ad for Singles Chat tongue.gif

Every now and then I get them at the bottom though, underneath the post area.

EDIT: Also, every time I come to nexus I have to reload the cbox as its always blank the first time the page loads.. and then sometimes I get an ad covering up the cbox input boxes. Which means I have to reload the entire page, and then reload the cbox again. *shakes fist*

I'm on Windows XP, and also have Firefox. I'm in the same boat as Nym; it takes me the same C-Box issues but right now there is no "sometimes."

Whenever I navigate to a page here, I will see a blank C-box with a partial ad for it, as the ad moved from the slot right under the banner to the position underneath the C-Box. So, there'll be this four-step process to actually using the C-Box.

1) View the C-Box, find it to be blank, yet with the option for inputting name/url/message. The banner ad will be underneath the C-Box.

2) Refresh the C-Box. This turns the blank C-box into the usual log of posts. There will be no fields to put in name, URL or message... possibly hidden underneath the misplaced banner ad.

3) Reload the current page so that the C-Box loads with the appropriate fields for input.

4) Repeat this process on every page on the board if I happen to click a link while I'm visiting neXus.

Right now, the banner ad is for Circuit City, but I've also seen IE8, Gates of Andaron, plus some dating site for goths frequently displayed as ads.

Can't do anything about the C-Box issues, unfortunately. I've gotten the same when I have adblock turned off. The ads are quite literally floating, and mostly flash based, so it interferes with the C-Box script. It either forces the C-Box to go blank because the C-Box cancels itself from loading, or thinks it should float over the C-Box too.

Best solution is to adblock the googles ad script. Then C-Box works just dandy.

And if everyone can specify the size of the ad too: standard or extra height. Standard is the basic rectangle; extra long is the basic rectangle + some silly google text ads at the bottom of it.

It's a mix. It's not always a Google ad that pops up.

Mine are always google ads with the extra text at the bottom. Usually theres a URL to the left side, and then "Feedback - Ads by Google" link at the right.

Can anyone recommend a good Firefox extension to block them??

Firefox, Mac/and Windows...AD Block on - banner is fine, blank box above it as opposed to below.

EDIT:: Sax, if you let me know how much it costs I may consider paying to remove ads for you.

$5 per 1000 hits, which last time, lasted neXus under a week I think. Soooo isn't worth it, but thanks much for the offer. biggrin.gif

$30 processing fee to get the database.

$1 per 1000 posts to convert. For neXus, that'd be $36, plus another $50+ for backup (since back-up includes all deleted posts), and $30 for the skin.

So you're looking at around $140+/$196+ NZ currency just to convert. And that's *if* they give you the database, since they're scrooges like that.

I'm using firefox and the adblocker, so the cbox is coming up fine for me.

Interestingly though, while Im viewing the site on my cellphone (Nokia N96), i get cbox issues then - no scrollbars ahving to refresh to view it most of the time. I believe my phone browser is Opera based, but Imay be wrong
