Codename: Hellion Character Type: Canon
Full Name: Julian Keller Age: 17 Hair Color: Black (Dark brown) Eye Color: Blue Height: 5’10 Weight: 170lbs
Affiliation: Helix
Appearance: Julian stands at a no longer impressive 5’10 solid and weighs a mere 170lbs. His hair is jet black and cut to a rather short length and with the help of styling gel it's spiked up in the front and holds the messy appearance everywhere else. With the help of his dark hair his tan skin looks that much darker as well. He did not sport any facial hair, the only hair other then on his head was his eyebrows and those too were dark, but much more thin then one would expect.
He has fairly broad shoulders and the body type to match them. His chest was toned well, very firm, but his abs were the best part, he worked hard on his defined stomach the muscles shown well six of them were present. His arms needed some work they were not as defined as everything else, but most of his body was never revealed because of the clothing he wore. In public he sported the usual jeans and a t-shirt, but his uniform is what he prided himself in. The base was a deep red with many silver decals, he wore a red jacket over the spandex and sported the silver X in the center of his chest. The mostly dark colors helped darken the appearance of his grayish blue eyes, which shift to a bright green whenever he used his powers.
Personality: His Codename comes from the Norse word Hel which means underworld and is translated into mischievous person. He does live up to his name, Julian is always looking for trouble even on his missions he is often instigating fights and getting off task. This aspect of his personality has lead him into some deep trouble a struggle in an airport and a few scraps with mutants far stronger then he is can be accounted for. Part of him still likes to think he is a child and this leads him to be found pulling pranks or acting out, but his other half allows him to be something quite the opposite of that.
Being a student at Xavier’s school he should have been taught not to be too self confident, but Julian was often absent during those lessons. He was blinded by his arrogance, but that factor was definitely still there. When he isn’t acting to arrogant he is either being obnoxious or a jerk, it’s a wonder how he has made any friends. But he does have a glow about him which gives him a leadership quality.
His mind often screams for him to stop show boating, but his mouth doesn't get the message. When alone he tried to coach himself to tone down his attitude, but that training seemed to fly out the window whenever another person was present. He really embraces his powers always using them, he saw them as a gift unlike other mutants who seldom use their powers, to no surprise he has been hunting for more power ever since his first use of his telekinetic ability.
Weaponry/Personal Belongings: None to speak of.
Powers: Hellion is a telekinetic. He is able to fly at subsonic speeds, create telekinetic force fields, unleash powerful blasts of telekinetic force, and levitate and manipulate objects from afar. He has been using his powers for what seems like multiple decades, but he is still having trouble focusing his abilities. With this lack of focus, Hellion has difficulty using his telekinetic abilities with fine control such as lifting up a paper clip but has no problem in raw power when it comes to destroying the entire floor that the paper clip resides on.
His telekinetic aura gives an appearance of green energy and his eyes tend to glow green when he uses his powers. In contrast to most other telekinetics, Hellion tends to focus and channel his mental energy almost exclusively through his hands, very rarely projecting it as a free flow output directly from his brain.
Flight Speed: Roughly 250mph he can fly at minimum speed for multiple hours at maximum speed for only 1/2 an hour and at an average speed for 2 hours. Force Field Resilience: Anything stronger then a blow of a 12 gauge shotgun would tear through Blast Impact: He has to take time to charge his blasts to build up enough energy at maximum energy he can tear through metal. Reach: He has been able to reach things up to 75 yards away. Weight liftable: Roughly 3500lbs
Weaknesses: His personality is one of his biggest downfalls. If he wasn’t so cocky he wouldn’t land himself in so many fights, but he truly doesn’t mind. The fighting doesn’t take much of a toll on his body until he is forced or has the option to use his powers. He doesn’t know his limits, which often lands him in hot water, he has been drained physically and emotionally multiple times. Even though he would never admit it he can die, just as eaisly as the next guy and therefore is very much mortal.
His biggest weakness is the fact that he doesn’t have his powers under control no matter how much he thinks he does, Julian is always testing himself and pushing his limits often times he can be found in training rooms and using his powers. He has gotten himself under control, but he truly doesn’t have them totally down-pat.
Other Special Skills/Abilities: He possesses a great leadership quality.
History:
Julian Keller was born with a silver-spoon in his mouth. Unfortunately, everyone figured that must mean he could already feed himself. His parents, William and Elizabeth Keller, were incredibly successful business people, having worked their way up from the lower middle class by amassing a large fortune on the stock market. Obsessed as they were with their careers, their youngest son was essentially raised parentless, brought up by their housekeeper and countless gifts given in the guilt that only truly horrible parents experience.
It wasn’t that the Keller’s didn’t love their son. But, pre-occupied with themselves, and already proud of the success of their first child, Julian’s older brother James, they simply failed to notice him a large part of the time. He was the second child, the lesser son, the safety net, while James was the Crown Prince, the man who would one day inherit the golden throne. It didn’t take long for Julian to become an attention-starved little brat, and he quickly realized that acting out usually got him whatever he wanted, and fast. As he grew up through elementary school he developed a well-deserved reputation as a mischief-maker, a troubled kid who got into fights on a daily basis and expressed his frustration with his parent’s nonchalance by bullying and dominating other children.
But Julian’s outgoing, show-off nature made him visible, and he quickly learned how to use that visibility. His charisma and need for attention drove him to gather a circle of friends and lackeys around him who were quite obviously and openly the “popular crowd,” controlling most of the social student life at school. He craved popularity like a drug, the attention he got from younger kids who hung on his every word starting to patch the gap left by the family who didn’t give a damn.
When puberty began to set in, so did the headaches. They started off pretty mundanely, a dull ache in the morning quickly cleared up by a dose of ibuprofen and a glass of water. Within a week Julian started to notice that he was getting the headaches everyday, that they were starting to spring up in the middle of the day as well, and worse - they were getting more intense, developing into full-blown migraines. By the end of the following week the painkillers stopped working at all, and a week after that he was in near-constant pain. Ultimately the agony became so crippling that even his perpetually distracted parents took notice, and they rushed him to the hospital immediately. When the doctors couldn’t find the problem they immediately tried to write it off, first as growing pains, then as purely psychological.
Julian’s parents were finally starting to notice him, not that he was strictly conscious to appreciate it. No medication was able to numb the constant pain and still allow him to function like a normal human being, but rather than have him in agony, the doctors chose to dope him up to the point of being near-comatose, until more was discovered about his condition. The Keller’s insisted that Julian be treated in the comfort of his own home, and with their connections, they arranged for his return.
The Keller household soon became a very strange place. Besides the constant coming and going of various doctors, specialists and so on, the home seemed to have developed a poltergeist at some point. Objects throughout the house would be randomly flung about, end-tables and vases knocked over, cupboards opened to discover all of the dishes within smashed to pieces, and several times both Mr and Mrs Keller swore that they caught a glimpse of a pen or another light object floating at the end of a hallway. The maid came close to having a nervous breakdown several times, and eventually quit her job altogether.
One bright morning, after several weeks of this nonsense, the Kellers woke to the sound of loud, sequential crashes coming from Julian’s room. They sprinted down the hall and flung open the door to reveal their younger son, rimmed in a pale light and floating in the middle of the room. Several objects, books and so on, flew about the room in a seemingly random fashion, ramming into each other and the walls to create the loud sounds that had awoken them. Everything lighter than the largest furniture had been scattered randomly, crashed through windows and embedded into walls, creating a scene of total chaos. Mrs. Keller fainted. Mr. Keller continued to stare, open-mouthed, until after a few minutes the glow faded and Julian dropped to the floor, along with just about everything in there that hadn’t been tied down.
Sure enough, their little hellion was a mutant. They’d heard about them on the news of course, but the Kellers had never thought that their own son could be another one of those “freaks.” Julian’s lot soon changed from being unintentionally disregarded to being ignored out of nothing more than fear and embarrassment, his parents avoiding the topic of his powers by simply pretending they didn’t exist. His headaches vanished with the maturation of his newfound abilities, and so his parents agreed to tolerate his “abnormality,” provided he avoided using the telekinesis as much as possible.
Which was probably the worst thing they could have told him. Enthralled with his newfound talent, Julian worked on his own everyday to practice and perfect it, not really giving a damn what his parents thought. He did, however, see the wisdom in not allowing the world at large know about his powers, and largely kept them a secret. Loud yelling matches still plagued the household, and his parent’s panic mounted at the thought of the potential damage having a mutant in the family would do to their business reputations. The little shit would probably start using his powers openly, they thought, just to spite them.
As Julian continued to insist on embracing his mutation, his parents decided to take drastic action to protect themselves. He returned from school one Friday afternoon to find both of his parents there waiting for him, along with his older brother James. That was odd enough - his parents were typically at the office until late evening, and James no longer lived with them, content to be running his own branch of the family business out east. Julian’s family calmly told him a number of things. First, though they still wanted him as family and would support him and so on, he was being written out of their will. They simply couldn’t risk his…”difference” ruining everything they’d worked so hard to build. So they had used their significant connections to find a home for mutants in New York, a large mansion owned by an affluent and well-respected professor named Charles Xavier. The place apparently also served as an accredited school for “their kind.”
While his parents disownment put a bitter taste in Julian’s mouth, his frustration levels were such that he was more than happy to get the hell out of Beverly Hills and hang out with people who actually appreciated him and what he could do. The Kellers tried to sweeten the whole thing by playing it off as nothing more than a temporary arrangement, but Julian knew better. He didn’t really much want to see them again either. A couple weeks later, with minimal fuss, he had been bundled onto a plane bound for New York.
Julian’s arrival at Xavier’s mansion was…not what he expected. For one thing, the ideologies presented clashed a bit with his own thoughts…and the other students just plain pissed him off. They were all so plain and low, and many of them had powers that were just…dumb. More irritating, though, was the fact that not only did the teachers seem to not care how good he really was, but that they actually placed him on the same level as the no-talents that the rest of the student body seemed to be made up of. All this talk about teamwork seemed to be just another way to keep him from getting the credit he deserved. So after spending most of the day having to suffer through lame training sessions far below his capabilities, Julian decided he would be better off without this damn school holding him back. He phoned up a taxi and took off for the city. His parents had given him some spending cash, so Julian got a hotel room and prepared himself for a night on the town. Board History:
Julian came to the institute via his limo and was only accompanied by his butler. He was skeptic about entering this academy at first, but as he began to weigh the pros and cons he thought he may like the “new home”. He was met at the door by a young man named Everett Thomas who suggested that he goes to met Xavier in the Observation Room. The two young men traveled together to this area. He reached the Observation Room after a few long moments in the elevator with Everett. Questions were racing through his mind as they entered the room and he finally got to come face to face with Charles Xavier, his questions were dodged at first, but soon he was plunged into the world of the X-Men. He was not making friends very easily and after an odd verbal exchange a few of the students standing in the room adjacent to the Danger Room were making their way out to the backyard, to…demonstrate their powers.
Julian walked almost all the way to the end of the path until he realized that the path that was beyond him happened to be covered in mud. He began to show off by floating all of the way to the group until his powers were shut off by Leech. He then proceeded to hurl a coat of another student across the field aiming for some mud. The Professor interrupted their action and encouraged the students to come into the Danger room. Hellion was skeptic about the room, but as he was “challenged” and won the race he was beginning to think that he could get used to this place. The large group separated and Julian was happy to go with the more advanced group, the task they were given by Everett was still considered childish by Julian, but he obliged none the less. He soon received a phone call before his training could start and on the other end were his parents; soon after the conversation he was leaving the Danger room.
Julian soon returned to the Mansion and after an odd dream sequence he awoke to find himself bleeding and in the company of some other mutants. He had been drugged and then beat up and that’s why he thought of it as a dream. He entered the Medical wing and before he knew it he was being bandaged up and mended. As a small group left to go find the anti-mutants they were encountered by a mutant who could produce ghosts. Hellion had to use his powers in a vast amount and this was hurting him. He took a vicodine and kept going the pain relief came fast and he was able to continue. They had no luck on finding the mutant haters but retrieved three mutants instead. A few other insignificant events happened and finally the Helix camping trip occurred were Hellion attended trying to attempt to socialize with the other students.
After the camping trip he took some time away, Julian later returned to the Mansion almost with exciment until he was not really welcomed with open arms. When he finally returned he was told a good majority of the events that oocured in or around the mansion. New students made the mistake of talking to Hellion and soon found out why. He delieverd alot of atitude to almost anyone who spoke to him so the students who rememered that seldom struck up conversation.
Julian had been spending time in west side of the country he was fairly sure that he was in the state of Montana but, the woods all looked the same, trying to practice the art of self control and hone his powers while the Mansion was busy with activtiy. He was under the impression that they needed him because when he returned he was told all about a fairly random demon attack, he often smirked at the thought of that image.
The rich mutant was quite surprised when he arrived back at the Mansion. He had not been there for more then a few moments when all hell had already broken loose. Hellion just set his bag down when he noticed the front of the mansion was obliterated. A deep red haze was covering the sky as the battle raged on with Sabretooth who had attacked the Mansion. Julian, after being updated joined in the fight and after getting in a good hit he ran into the Mansion on request of Iceman. He was quick to rush back to the still going battle and it was just in time to see Wolverine finish off the feral. Keller still thinks he contributed to the finishing blow, but others would oppose this statement.
After that brief encounter with a more powerful mutant then he had ever crossed paths with he moved toward the hanger. He had heard the jet land and he knew that some of the members from Helix were upon it. After a quick spat with Warpath Julian had met up with his friends, only they were slightly different. The other members of Helix had covered mouths, Magneto and caught up with them on Asteroid M and made sure they couldn't talk for awhile. Julian helped them out by removing their mouth pieces with his telekinetic powers.
He then leaves the hanger and moves on to the garden where he runs in with Maggott, the two of them bond for a moment and then decide to go to the city where all of the X-Men where, by the time they got there they were in the middle of a hazardous scene. All of the mutants in the city were taken off to the astral plane. Iceman and Angel were in mid flight when their minds were taken away. Julian was there to catch them, but he let them down hard.
The U-Men then arrived in the city and with Maggott and Warbird Julian helped fight them off after some rest and recovery Julian went off to the Danger Room to train some more.
Sample Roleplay:
The wind rushed through his hair pulling at his skin as he increased his speed. He arms were held down against his sides with his palms open, his eyes flashed between a deep blue to a bright green as he sped up or slowed down his flight speed. His entire hand and even some of his wrist was engulfed in a green glowing aura, which matched his eyes. His vision was slightly blurred when he came close to a Mach speed, but he has been doing this for so long the blurs looked familiar and he always knew where he was. The mansion was quickly getting closer as he could see the trees and various streets.
His palms closed and the green force dissipated his speed decreased greatly and his body began to plummet toward the ground. The tennis and basketball courts were underneath him, they grew closer and before he touched down Julian gave one last push of energy to lessen the blow of the landing. His tennis shoes touched the pavement softly and he began to walk toward the back of the Mansion. He cracked his knuckles and then shifted his head to crack his neck as he walked. He gazed at the many students about the campus waving to some and provoking others. Not many students were dumb enough to challenge him because he has shown many times the damage he is capable of educing.
The rays of the sun could no longer reach him as he walked into the Mansion and shut the door behind himself without lifting a finger. He was often discouraged of using his powers for various simple tasks as that, but he has never been a good listener. Julian moved through the various hallways and soon was standing in the middle of the kitchen, he held out his hand, palm up and an apple was soon soaring toward it. He took the apple and gripped it tightly as he brought it to his mouth. He bit into the apple and the skin gave easily, he was walking slowly through the halls and eating the apple his room was in sight and opening the window with his powers he tossed the apple out of it the old fashion way. He hurled the apple with his hand barley squeezing it through the pane and the glass. He chuckled softly as his door opened and he stepped through the threshold.
