The Brotherhood of Mutants is a group dedicated to the cause of mutant superiority over humans. Throughout its various incarnations, the Brotherhood's agenda has gravitated towards either subjugating the human race to the will of mutants or eradicating humanity altogether. Magneto formed the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants shortly after the public debut of the X-Men.

Magneto's personality fluxuates depending on what causes his emotions to change, but mostly Erik is a watcher and listener. His methods of obtaining information differ from those of most leadership positions, keeping his facts and information to himself for the benefit of secrecy. While he watches the members of the Brotherhood and listens to snippets of conversations, he's able to, on the most part, correctly guess what's running through one's mind, but keeps such thoughts to himself. Anytime information is unintentionally leaked, Magneto takes that as a sign of weakness, knowing "loose lips sink ships," and given the Brotherhood's tumultuous and violent membership, he knows others may exploit such secrets.

Queen of Treachery. Mystique has survived countless years due to her ability to adapt to surroundings and circumstances. Friends may become foes without warning if it serves Mystique's purposes. Even her own children, or lovers, are not immune to her devious nature. Ruthless and cold blooded, Mystique kills or otherwise disposes of any one who gets in her way. As a survivor, Mystique's natural individualist tendencies make it difficult to affirm any sort of concrete alliance; few like Destiny have been able to garner her unwavering support through the years.
