dungeons
the dungeons are located in, well, the dungeons. an easy way to find the dungeons is to just keep following the stairs down, down, down. think johnny cash, kids. anyway, you'll know you're there when it starts to get cold and dark. it's not too hard.

entrance hall
the entrance hall is where you'll end up when you walk through the great oak doors of hogwarts castle. that is, if you enter from the entrance. if you decide it's a good idea to sneak in, well, it'll be your own fault when filch has got you in detention, now won't it?

great hall
the great hall is where all meals take place, unless the school's under attack or something. then, students either eat in their common rooms, or they don't eat at all because they're too busy putting their defense against the dark arts skills to work. either way, the morning post is delivered here every morning, along with the usual breakfast foods.

moaning myrtle's bathroom
honestly, you really don't want to be in here when myrtle shows up. she's a bit possessive of her bathroom, and she doesn't like it much when you touch her toilet. not that you'd be doing it on purpose or even at all, since the bathroom has been out of order for a while now. peeves the poltergeist sometimes likes to drop in on myrtle, which explains the random screams you may hear if you've got a class on the second floor.

trophy room
the trophy room is full of trophies and plaques, earned by students that attended hogwarts during the bazillion years it's been open. though the room is usually empty of students and teachers, you can sometimes find filch bossing around some first year that was stupid enough to step on mrs. norris' tail by accident.

hospital wing
well, let's hope you haven't landed yourself up here. there's usually a quidditch player or two up here after every game that slytherin plays, and there are quite a few first year students occupying the beds during their first semester. even if you can get past the insane cleanliness and lemony fresh smell, madam pomfrey, to be frank, has a wand up her ass. and not the good kind, either.

the library
oh, the library. this place is gigantic, to say the very least. it's filled to the brim with thousands of books on nearly every magical subject there is. plus, recently the hogwarts library has acquired a muggle section, filled with novels by muggle authors. the slytherins and their families have been protesting against it since the day it was put in.

prefect's bathroom
the prefect's bathroom is, in one word, exquisite. it's large bathtub is equal to the size of a muggle public pool, though public pools certainly don't have the extravagant taps that the prefect's bathroom does. the highly complicated taps are just one of the many perks of the private, secretive bathroom.

room of requirement
this super secret special room is home to many student organizations that are, well, you know... not really that well known by the teachers, if you catch my drift. apparently, if you walk past the wall three times and focus on what you want, a door will appear before you with a room beyond your greatest imagination. ...only not, 'cause you just thought of what the room would be.

astronomy tower
while this tower is used at midnight by the astronomy classes, it also seems to be hogwarts' very own romantic hot spot. many a couple have ventured up to the top of the tower during the wee hours of the morning. though it's a romantic place, it's also a very good place to go when you just need to sit and think for a while. it's quiet. peaceful. serene.

owlery
the owlery is where hogwarts' students and teachers keep their owls during the school year. the high tower is located just off of the castle; only a short walk away. the school also has quite a few owls located here for students or teachers to use if they don't have their own owl to use whenever they like.

common rooms
their are four houses at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, all of which are home to many young witches and wizards. however, when there are students that need to be housed during the school year, of course boarding must be provided. each house has it's own common room and dormitories, which are protected by a password.

classrooms
of course, hogwarts has a fair amount of classes to offer to it's students. they all include magic in some way or another; students are encouraged to get a muggle education before attending the school, whether by home schooling or public schooling. the staff of hogwarts is very large, and consists of a great number of qualified witches and wizards.

head common room
the head boy and head girl have a separate common room, away from their original houses. they each have their own dormitory, of which they can decorate however they like, within reason. the head boy and girl are always seventh years, chosen from the eight sixth year prefects during the summer before their last year at hogwarts.

grounds
oh, the hogwarts grounds. lord knows how much property is actually owned by the school. all we know is, there's a lot of it, and it's absolutely, positively, gorgeous. the lake, for one, is amazing all year round. even with the giant squid, who really isn't all bad. the large expanse of land seems to stretch on forever.
