Heat Island [official thread], autumn 2007 roadshow

It looks like this was officially announced on August 5th. There is a Japanese news article at:

It's an adaptation of the novel she was reading a while back (and we now know why she was reading it...). It's a fast-moving action suspense story set in the criminal underworld of Shibuya (or at least starting there; as it is fast moving, it may move elsewhere quickly). Keiko isn't playing the main character, but she is the third listed actor in the release, which isn't bad. It suggests that her role will be on the Mizu ni Sumu Hana scale, rather than the Mamiya Kyoudai (or, worse, FF3) scale.

People like DB who obsessively read the front page of the blog when Keiko doesn't update already know that it's due out in early spring 2007. ;)

I can't find an actual movie page yet, though, so no trailers or pictures just yet.

Actually, the front page and DB both say early summer ...
which is why I was surprised because I thought that lead times in Japan was 6-9 months, whereas this is likely to be 10+, so a little on the long side.

wooo! FINALLY! keiko kitagawa in heat island...yeah that explains lots. i wonder who her character will be this time.....or what the character will be like..... thanks for the info dchart!

Don't sell me short. I also obsessively read the front page when she does update. (They're often updated together.) No frying pan wielding women around to keep me in check.

Noticed it on her page this morning before coming here.... I guess I didn't notice she changed it though I looked.... I guess the picture distracted me again...LOL, anyways... ya who wants to read that book now?.....lol

i must strangle Stardust for this. unless heat island is supposed to be a highly anticipated film i'm dissappointed she's moving backwards instead of forwards (as far as quality/ popularity in movie goes) in her career. up until now she's been going up up up but yeah, heat island sounds like it DOES drop down to mizu ni sumu hana status. here's the info i had on her castmates:

i do sincerely hope that even though keiko is the only chic i found listed so far that she doesn't end up playing the trophy girl or some yakuza whore. but then again since this IS keiko...maybe she'll be a cool kick ass chick?

Spring, summer -- definitely reading what I wanted to see rather than what was actually there.

LK: The impression I got from the description of the popularity of the book was that this might be nearer Mamiya Kyoudai level, with Keiko in a slightly bigger part. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

However, "simultaneous release across the whole country" certainly suggests bigger than Mizu (one cinema in Shibuya, same building as a porn cinema, for the late shows for two weeks), and possibly even bigger than Mamiya (which may have been only Kantou area).

@ dchart: i see....maybe i'm so turned off because there are no note worthy actors listed so far (other than the beloved keiko :P ) so i guess we'll really have to wait for some time. filming just began......i just realized i put up the wrong link for naoya's official site...oopps! lol, and after finally sitting down and reading the wiki link for Yu i realized the reason why he looked so odd to be is because he's half spanish! :lol: oh the things we discover!

that's all i've been able to get. nothing new. but i'll set up alerts so that i can get more information as it becomes available...

why the hell was the premiere pushed from the summer to autumn? the movie has been completed for god knows how long! even before keiko filmed dear friends! <_<

Seems like the movie has an official site already. Saw it from Keiko's website http://www.heatisland.jp although it only has the poster. Nada mas.

Maybe just the poster...but its the poster! ... I mean keiko on it...awesome!
Hmm I wonder if they are gonna make another poster... like how Dear Friends did... if so we gotta look out for another one.

it's about freakin' time. but the poster is crappy cause i can't see nothin' but a flippin' sillouette. it's okay tho, i like the lettering! ;) heh. it has a cool gritty look, i'm excited!
