I will confess to holding a small grudge against TOS for removing Kratos from my party and then throwing me into a new fuckin' world.
Though Sheenas boobs may be large and plentiful, they do not make up for the fact that I just cannot pick up the controller and start again in a different place.
I was just getting used to Sylvarant!

I am currently in a state of angry confusion with TOS, though I hope to renew our love soon since I have to give it back to Mel eventually.
*sigh*

You'll be seeing Kratos quite a bit later on in the game. Don't worry.

I chose Kratos the first time because I didn't know what would happen to Zelos if I did, and because I fangirled over the father-son bonding between Kratos and Lloyd. I was pissed and HORRIFIED when I got to the Tower of Salvation, though.

The second time I chose Kratos again, because I was still on father-son fangirl-high, but I literally started tearing up after the fight with Zelos.

Then, on YouTube one night, I re-watched *SPOILER* Zelos' death . . . and just started bawling my eyes out.

So now I can't pick Kratos anymore. Plus, I'm only on my fourth playthrough because I WANT ZELOS AS MY GODDESS DAMNED SOUL MATE, and killing him doesn't really help me along that path. =P

(Also, sorry about spoilers. If I need to mark 'em out, just let me know. But I figure, if you're going to be on a forum talking about the game and all, you should probably have finished it first . . . )

Yeah. You went get Kratos to come to town to save the Princess Hilda. :3 See, somehow I think it's more fair to choose Zelos, though. Because if you choose Kratos, Zelos dies, and Kratos ends up leaving to go to DERRIS-FUCKING-KHARLAN at the end of the game. And then if you choose Zelos, Kratos STILL goes to DERRIS-FUCKING-KHARLAN. So, at least if you choose Zelos, no one dies, and Kratos is just as much of a d-bag as ever. I mean, I love him and all - he's Lloyd's dad-day - but going to Derris-Kharlan is a douchebag thing to do, hands down. ><

Someone should put Lloyd through the D.A.R.E Program - Kratos Aurion Edition. JUST SAY NO, LLOYD. JUST SAY NO. (Y'know, when it comes to using the Eternal Sword to send Kratos off, etc., etc..)

LOL DERRIS-FUCKING-KHARLAN.
No I agree with you in that regard. It would save a life, and Kratos would leave either way, but.
I'm devoted to my sexyseraph. ;3; <3 Though I agree that it wasn't the best thing to do--going to DK. I would've preferred if Yuan went, but Kratos being the atonement-loving-fag he is, thought the burden was his own. At least he was taking care of mistakes.

LOL YES.

Screw sending Yuan - I happen to ADORE Yuan. Especially the way my friend Sara writes him. He's HILARIOUS. Well, especially hilarious right now, since Zelos (played by me) is pissing Yuan off incredibly. Makes me bust into gigglefits every time I read one of her posts. <3

But anyway, I say we send Regal. Regal can dump out the Exspheres just fine, and then Kratos AND Zelos can be in the party and Kratos and Yuan get to stay. Or, better yet, there are still angels on Derris-Kharlan, right? Give them the order to dump the Exspheres off into space and then NO ONE has to leave.

Problem solved, Namco. Problem solved. -.-

The manga at least has Kratos and Zelos join the final battle. I'm personally not a huge Yuan fan. o_o
AND YEAH THAT'D BE AWESOME.
But Namco is like no we need to break the hearts of small (specifically four foot six and a half) fangirls.
I HAET U NAHMCOE.

Namco is at least better than Bandai. I fucking hate Bandai with a bloody passion for what they did to Symphonia by making that abomination of a sequel. I mean, it had its moments. But there were so many problems with continuity that it's just obnoxious. In my opinion, the overall plot of DotNW was cool. However, it should not have been a Symphonia sequel/spinoff/whatever you want to call it. Instead, they should have made it something like "Tales of Ratatosk" or something like that, had it NOT take place in the Symphonia world AT ALL with NONE of the old cast, and had it stand on its own. I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable like that, because there would be no awful voice acting for the old cast (because there wouldn't BE an old cast) and no one would be comparing it to the original. The reviews probably would have been a lot better.

And for serious about the voice acting. After I got done grooving to his salsa theme long enough to actually listen to his voice, I nearly started crying when I heard Zelos'. Why did they have to get rid of Shiloh Strong, whyyyyy. I mean, I know the reason, but still. ;___; Especially since he's so nice. He so deserved that role again. ;____;

And gah, how could you not love Yuan, he is love, beyond love, total love. <3 PLUS, HE'S KRATOS' BFFL, SO THAT AUTOMATICALLY GETS HIM COOL POINTS. Well, they go on and off with the BFFL. PLUS, if it wasn't for Yuan, Kratos would have died at Origin's Seal, so yeah. We're lucky that Yuan enjoys stalking people. =P

I know personally, I would have enjoyed DotNW more if it was another Tales Of game. Not a sequel to ToS. ToS was DONE. There didn't need to be a continuation. But the game wasn't all that bad.

I knowww! It's extremely saddening especially because I for one am extremely nitpicky about voiceacting as is. But I simply adored the old ToS crew. They ruined my Lloyd, though. Zelos, Raine, Genis--everybody. If not for Cam Clarke and Heather Hogan I would've very much been unable to stand the game.

Yes, that's true. It's just.. iunno. I can't quite place a reason WHY I don't like Yuan as much as I should.

Remind me NOT to touch the sequel then when it hits Australia. (If it ever gets down here that is...)

Will do if I can manage to make it to Australia.

I really wish I could, too. Guys have hot accents down under.

Not that that has ANYTHING to do with Symphonia OR its sequel, but I'm just saying . . .

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance didn't need a sequel, it was done. Yet, Radiant Dawn came along, and it was quite well done. Just because something doesn't NEED a sequel doesn't mean it's a bad thing if they make one. A continuation of a story is always a good thing, no matter how poorly it's pulled off. You get to learn more about what happened when the story cut off, after all.

Not necessarily. Sometimes it's better to speculate, and better not to beat a dead horse. Ending a story where it is allows the fans to write fanfiction, role play, and come up with their own speculations.

Sometimes sequels can be pulled off beautifully - an example of this would be in The Legend of Zelda series, with Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I LOVE Majora's Mask. It's my FAVORITE Zelda game of all time. However, in the same game series, Phantom Hourglass was abysmal to a Wind Waker-lover like myself.

So, sometimes sequels can be pulled off. Sometimes they can't. And I know that in my personal opinion, they should NOT have made a sequel to Symphonia. Sometimes it's best to not know what went on after the game ended, and to leave it up to fan speculation and interpretation. At least, in my opinion.

@Phones: *facepalm* Yet another person who thinks aussie accents are hot *scribbles note to not release voice clips*

Anyway, your example of OoT and Majora's Mask is a hard one to call on, for the most part I usually say it's a separate game, but with the major links to OoT it's really hard to maintain that stance.

But nonetheless I agree, some game sequels can be pulled off very well, others.... Are a waste of the time and money put into them. I usually don't get sequel games anyway, unless I have a very good reason to do so (I.E. part of a set or heard amazing things about it), but from what I've heard about DotNW, I really don't want to touch it.

It's not my fault you lot have hot accents. =P Both Aussie and British accents are sexy. That's not my fault - just statement of fact.

And yeah, Majora's Mask is definitely a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, because it's the same Link. He's the same Hero of Time (proven by the fact that he can manipulate time through the Ocarina), he still has Epona (though how he managed to convince Malon to give Epona up as a foal is beyond me), and the "lost friend" he was searching for in the beginning is Navi, the fairy from Ocarina of Time. And, as I said, this is a rare case where the sequel surpasses the original, because while Ocarina of Time is classic, Majora's Mask is just . . . amazing. <33

And yeah, don't bother buying DotNW. I'd say rent it, and just keep renewing it until you beat it. It's such a short game, it doesn't take that much time to beat it, anyway.

So basically it's like FFX-2 incredibly short and can almost be considered an insult to it's original.
