this question isnt directly related to foxyproxy, but maybe you can help: i thought i would use a proxy to avoid the time limit on rapidshare downloads.. which worked, except the download speed was so slow as to be pointless. can i expect this from all the free proxy servers or are some reasonably fast? (the one i tried was about 2kb/s when i am used to at least 40-250kb/s on rapidshare)
thanks. |

Hi,
2 kb/sec is very slow. To answer your question, no, not all proxy servers are this slow, but it is hit-or-miss unless you run your own and/or get a paid service. The only proxy servers that I know about which are free and consistent are the ones on the CoDeeN network. Take a look at the list here. -eric -------------------- |

eric... codeen is not anon
just so you know... Codeen and PlanetLabs proxies... though fast are useless for anon browsing http://www.antiproxy.com/ is a good site to find proxies but does not test for anon.... you can test by going to http://whatsmyip.org but I recomend a program called charon for finding and testing proxies get it here http://www.project2025.com/charon.php searches google + leechsites etc filters against blacklists (codeen, planet labs and more) and tests for anonymity its a must, if you plan on doing any sort of anon surfing |

Hi cuzabis,
I know Codeen isn't anonymous. I don't surf the web anonymously so Codeen is often perfect for my needs. Thanks, Eric -------------------- |

charon will find some for you
the reason im against codeen and planet labs and all those is simply because they log everything I dont like the world knowing what Im doing, thats why I use a proxy to begin with LOL but the main reason they log is to snag spammers and such here is a tutorial for using charon... (not my own) I will post my own like I said later tonite.... mine will have screenshots and what not to make it a lot more visual to understand http://www.forum.freeproxy.ru/viewtopic.php?=&p=6657 |
