Title: Connecting to a secured proxy

I have set up a proxy using SocksPuppet. I turned authentication on, so a user name and password are required to use it. (I want to prevent it from being used for nefarious purposes.) Most other programs give you a place to enter the user name and password for your proxy, but I cannot figure out how to do this with FoxyProxy.

I tried just entering the name of my proxy server, but the connection dies almost immediately since I am not trying to authenticate first. I then tried entering the host name in the format username:password@hostname, but this leads to the page staying in a "loading" state (the throbber continually spins and no content ever appears), perhaps eventually ending in a time out.

Is there a way to specify these user credentials to my proxy or am I SOL?

Thanks.

How are you using SocksPuppet with authentication and Firefox? IOW, uninstall FoxyProxy. How do you use Firefox with SocksPuppet? Where do you specify the credentials?

I've never used it with FF before. I didn't want to proxy all of my internet traffic through my computer, so I never tried to proxy FF through it.

If you can't use the proxy through Firefox, you won't be able to use it through FoxyProxy.
