While all is quiet in Evan's world - and ours - just wanted to stop in and say "hello!"

Hope all ELFFs are enjoying summer wherever you are and whatever you're doing.

I am.

:lol2: Quiet indeed! Nice to see a new posting! I'm enjoying summer too - took a walk on the waterfront today with the sun shining and breeze blowing the salty sea air my way. Hope it's as nice wherever Evan is.....

Yes, all is quiet as we await (hopefully!!!) the good news that Evan is returning to competition this season.

In the meantime, we're throwing a big birthday party for my mom this month. She is turning 90, but you wouldn't know it!

Honestly, my year has been pretty craptastic since we came back from China in March.

* My dad died suddenly on April 5, dropping dead from a heart attack. He was 87, but still quite a shock.

* My mother just turned 88, but she has a variety of health issues, including blood problems that doctors are having trouble working out.

* I discovered a lump in my breast. I had a mammogram last week and initial reports are hopeful, but still waiting for a final report.

* I myself have some issues with things out of whack in my blood work, so I'm working on getting that corrected.

* We had a horrific storm come through on Friday that really wreaked havoc. My county is one of the two hardest hit in the state, with nearly the entire county without power. Cars and houses were destroyed, mainly by trees falling on them. The county has been declared a disaster area. Ice and gas are impossible to find without long waits, as so few places have power. We just got our power back on after 73 hours, but our fridge and freezer contents are lost. We personally only lost a few tree branches, but our neighbor two houses down lost siding and part of their roof.

In short, I'm kinda tired of all this and could really use some good news for a change.

WOW!! Diana - you've definitely had more than your share of adversity. Here's a  that I hope helps you to feel better along with prayers of comfort in the loss of your father and for best results from your mammogram and other health concerns.

That storm was a humdinger all right. Such is the power of nature. Glad all you lost was the contents of your frig and freezer. Take care of you and keep us posted as things get better - as they surely must and will.

Diana, I am so sorry for what you have been through this past yr, it sometimes certainly seems to tumble all at once. Prayers for your family with your dad's passing and for you and your mom with the health issues!!!!!!
