Alix, thank you so much for your kind words. I have actually thought about a book but as a friend of mine rightfully said, I don't think people at the end of the day want to read about an unknown girl from NY. So, I'd have to figure out how to structure the book exactly so that it would be an effective tool to help others. I have kept a very thorough blog since I found out I needed the '08 surgery, similar to what Evan used to do on his website. Long posts and updates on my recovery so I already have my documentation. In the meantime, I serve on the Board and now Executive Board of an organization that advocates for adults living with heart defects so I use my energy in that manner:)

Heather, with all due respect to your friend's opinion, some fabulous (and successful) books have been written about just such "unknowns" -- ordinary people who have faced down difficult odds and accomplished extraordinary things. It may be more difficult to get an agent or publisher's interest in such a manuscript, and more of a challenge to market it once it's published, but it has been done. In some cases, I think people find it more inspiring to read about ordinary people achieving great things or emerging from dificulties well -- it gives them hope! Anyway, kudos to you for your courage.
P.S. You could start with presenting your story in article, rather than book, form; might be easier to get published.

Alix thanks for the vote of confidence :). I'll keep it in mind things are a bit crazy during Summer and Fall for me but when things calm down, I'll give it some more thought.

Well, here's another sappy emotional story.

Last school year I went through so many hard times. It was hard enough to go off to college and leave behind the only group I felt ever understood and accepted me and to be away from home and my family. To make things worse, my roommate was extremely difficult to live with and my classes were hard, I struggled to pass just about everything. Then, as if it couldn't get any worse, one of my best friends from high school died very unexpectedly.

I must say I credit Evan for getting me through last school year. The day after my friend died, he won the Olympic gold, and that made me SO happy in a time I really needed to. He's replied to several of my comments and e-mails. Best of all was when I met him on April 30 at the Stars On Ice meet and greet - he was so sweet, so kind, so friendly to me. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. It made me realize that no matter how bad things are, good things can, and will, happen. If I ever doubt that, all I have to do is look at the cover of my SKATING magazine that he signed for me!

And of course, I met numerous other great fans and have made so many wonderful friends through this forum and Evan's FB. I know I got out of the swing of coming here this summer, but I plan to come back a lot more!
