Ok - I won't ask. It's either intuition or inside information. At least I won't have to get up quite so early to watch. :)

Well I"m :offtobed: so I can try to get some rest before Evan's SP! It's been a long wait. See you all back here afterwards as I'll be watching via Icenetwork and won't be able to flip back and forth. Would make me too nervous.

Go Evan!! The ELFFs are cheering for you! Have a great skate - the results will take care of themselves. Dream! You have! Believe! You do - and we do too! Achieve!! That you have and the best is yet to come!!

 :cheer:  :flower: :1st: in our hearts! Always!

Oh shoot. I totally miscalculated the times and missed the SP. haha, was counting the hours the other way round :D Time to get into it again with non European competitions coming! :lol2:

Just catched the replay on CCTV5, saw 2 last SPs - so I was just on time! :) I really like that program of Yannick Ponsero, just a pity he never skates it clean...
Evan's program - I must say I am not a huge fan of the music he's been skating to in last 2-3 seasons. But I quite liked this performance, the jumps were nice, he was really into the music and all the drama. Though few times during the last step sequence I had a feeling it does not really go with the music, maybe it was jus that Evan got so intense while the music was a bit slower and not so pompous.
And let people say whatever they want about his costumes, he just looks stunning in black, this one being no exception. The feathers are a bit funny, but it is not that horrible.

So, 3rd after the SP, I think Evan can make it tomorrow. Haven't seen neiter Oda or Voronov, but the diffrence is within 3 point between the top 3, so that seems ok.

Good luck in the LP!!

I had been a little bit worried about Evan before the competition because some veteran skaters like Brian or Johnny hadn't skated with very good results at their first Grand Prix events. But I'm glad that he skated quite decently at this event. To be honest, it is not my most favorite music. However, I think the program is not bad with some impressive choreography. I felt the scores are a little low even with an edge error, but he can surely improve from now on. :)

Great skate for a season opener! I know it will only get better. Love it! Already has the highest PCSs of the competition. But for the edge call on the flip - which was too fast for me to see - we'd see a different order of finish. Oh well, they'll fix it for the free. Also seemed just a wee bit conservative instead of free wheeling all out that we'll see later when he's tested the waters with it a bit more. Very smart, imo!

I think he's right where he wants to be going in to the free. A strong SP that leaves him in striking distance of the top spot! I like it better when he has to chase rather than when he's being chased. Puts him in "fight" mode!

Well done Evan!! Go get 'em!

I agree, Mary. Evan is a gritty fighter, he won't hold back in the FS, especially when he is in "the hunt."

When you're in first, more often than not, you're "defending" your position, rather than fighting to win.

Evan is within striking distance. Go Evan!!

An absolutely mesmerizing free skate! Evan is picking up right where he left off and has raised the bar even higher this first time out. Really too bad about the 3 jump combo UR but that was a fluke more than something that needs fixing. PCScores are climbing every time  Highest of the competition in both the SP and the FS. :cheer: :1st:

Carley is recording Universal coverage for me so we'll no doubt spend time before Skate America reliving CoC. Can't wait to hear the interviews she mentioned.

Great competition for our fella!!

Congratulations on your good start of this season, Evan! :2nd:
I personally think that he doesn't need to win GP events. He should use these competitions to check his programs and performance. So the 2nd is a good place for him.
He has plenty room to improve. For example, the straight line step sequence which the audience applauded very much was evaluated as level 2.
If I say my complaint, I feel both of his costume have similar silhouettes. It may be better if there are more varieties.

I agree about him not needing to win GP events. Second is a great start and putting the programs out there the way he did will give him feedback to learn from for SA. I always prefer him to be the hunter rather than the hunted. Fuels his fighting spirit on to higher heights. (no pun intended :)

I was surprised by the level 2 on the straightline steps - you can be sure that will be "fixed" in a hurry.

Observation: for me not knowing the music for this season - yet :) - has made the quality of these programs stand out even more as I was not pulled by the music so much as by the actual skating. The music of course will grow on me, but the skating itself was, despite a few easily fixable issues, spellbinding! Was amazing to starat and will only get better.

Way to go, Evan!! :cheer:

Loved the new progie! :skating:

And both :skating2: looked better than ever. Or was it just my wishful thinking?

Slightly concerned about the flip, hope he wasn't trying to fix it overnight and the mistake was just an early season blip. I'm such a demanding fan! :hide:

I'm just glad neither of his Axel was downgraded. He doesn't always get an "e" or a :!" so maybe whatever technical adjustment he makes wont affect him too much. Now where is the protocols.

I'm actually glad he lost, the important thing is to get feedback for his programs. And I don't want to much pressure going into the Olympics.
But I hate both his costumes, especially the shoulder pads.
