Evan arrived in Beijing this afternoon (Tuesday, Beijing time), we were told they would hold a press conference for him at the official hotel after he's settled, but actually, it was just a group interview... however, it's a fault by the committee, Evan still did the interview while his check-in, although the team leader or someone said he would not answer any question.

something during the interview/meeting with Evan:

* He arrived together with Kostner and Flatt.

* He didn't watch Plushenko's programs at Cup of Russia

* He's ready to show what he's prepared

* Maybe he'll do a quad, maybe not.

* "Your fans on the fan forum wish you good luck."
"Oh....(happy smile)"

* "Ready to fight?"
"Yeah!"

Thrilled to see this here Sissy! THANK YOU!! Sounds like he's in great spirits and ready to rock the rink. So cute about the ELFF forum smile! Did you give him the postcards yet?

Love the pix, though he looks a bit tired. That's to be expected after a long flight. Glad he got there early enough to maybe shake the jet lag!

Look forward to more updates as the week goes on. :thankyou: again!

I was thinking about giving him the postcards today, but since in the project thread I said the deadline is on Wednesday (today it's Tue), I thought I should stick to that so I didn't bring them with me today. I wasn't told there's a so-called press conference untill this morning, it's actually a bit odd that you suddenly know your favorite athlete will be there the right afternoon and you're even asked to interview him!LOL

oh I forgot to mention this, a bit embarrassing for me i think :B - Evan was wearing a pair of ankle-length boots, which looked so similar with the ones he wore during off season to protect his injured foot, but Evan told me they're "just shoes" L O L I think it's embarrassing because I was so sure that I even told my workmate those boots were part of treatment when she said those boots were....well, ugly :lol2:

Thanks, Sissy!

And a BIG thank you for the postcard project. It means so much to us ELFFS who can't always be there in person. :lol2:

Evan must be tired after the long trip, but he has plenty of time to recover fully from jet lag.

He sounds really happy and ready...

Can't speak for EVERY American, but this one is not a fan of the cold. We do get used to it though. Where I live in Michigan we get quite a bit of it. Especially this summer - or what was supposed to be summer.

I think Evan keeps warm because he's so fit his circulation is working on high speed all the time! :)

Oh - I'd forgotten the deadline date. Best to wait for it. Aren't surprise "encounters" fun?

When you do interviews, do you have a list of questions prepared ahead?

That's because he lives in California. It's been really hot over the weekend.

Yes we did because we were told there's a "press conference", but when we found it's actually just a group-interview and we could only do it during Evan's check-in, we had to cancel our question plans since we couldn't and shouldn't disturb him for too long. I actually wanted to ask him the feeling about having a new training mate (Kostner) :P

Thanks Sissy! I didn't expect you really ARE a journalist! I like your earrings, so cute!

It's great that we can hear some insider news about Evan from you. Are you going to watch his training? Please let us know how it goes and if you like his new programs.

By the way, I like my postcard (although if I knew that we could pick our own, I'll go with the Great Wall one too :lol2: ), that temple is really big, full and masculine, Evan will surely like it! ;)

hey, if you have chance to interview Carolina, make sure to ask her the same question: what's your feeling of your new (and hot) training mate? :victory:

I like my earrings too!!! my friend told me my lucky color of yesterday was yellow so I decided to wear them, that's a Playboy bunny earring! :victory: I'm actually just a part-time skating news writer, not journalist, but since it's an interview with the reigning world champion, the website I work for wants to send someone 'professional' to this interview, so they asked me to go :lol2:

I will go to watch the practice tomorrow, will take a video of Evan's routine for sure as long as camera is allowed B)

Will there be an "official" press conference where you'll actually get to interview him with your questions? Will you get to be part of the group at the "mixed" zone ones?

I suspect you have to keep being a fan separate from when you're on the job so would have to wait until a more private time to give him any gifts etc.

Was wondering if you'd be able to get to the practices. I LOVE them. I still have your vids from last time. I will have to decide whether or not to watch before the competition. I'm dying to see them but also conflicted as I remember the impact of seeing his Tosca for the first time at my first live competition in Reading at SA 2007 so I usually don't like to spoil that feeling. Decisions - I only hope I have one to make and that they do allow cameras!

I will go to both the post competition press conferences, so as long as Evan finishes top 3 we will meet at an "official" press con. :lol2: Actually the questions we prepared were really fluffy, because it was just his arrival, we didn't want to bother him with "how do you think about the Olympic season" - it's a bit "big" to talk about for that situation. While at a post event press con, fluffy questions is also not very...appropriate. However, if there's suddenly a question pop into my mind, maybe I will ask.

I saw the practice vid of Tosca before the 'official debut' too, but in the practice vid I found that program awful (it only showed a SlStep actually), while at competition I felt the whole program was much better, so I didn't think I was spoiled B)
