I'm a long-time Olympics and skating fan who lost interest for awhile after the 2002 Olympics and the scoring scandals there. Something made me decide to watch the men's competition this past Feburary. Maybe it was all the buzz about that Russian skater who was supposedly a shoo-in for the gold? :usaflag:

Anyway, I'm sure you can guess what happened next. Yep. Evan had me at hello. :wow:

I watched the entire season of DWTS just for him, and in my opinion he was ROBBED! :cryoutloud: Enough said about THAT!

I just had a wonderful experience meeting Evan for the first time last weekend at Improv Ice. (I also met Brian Boitano, my other favorite skater, and have not come down off :cloud9: since then.) If you've seen the photo Evan posted onto his FB with fans, I am the short-haired lady to Evan's right wearing a cream knit top. What a high it was to see that photo appear!

A little about me: I'm a soon-to-be 40 :bigeyes: gal living in Colorado with my husband of 12 years and a vicious, ankle-biting tabby cat. I have a stepson, 18, who just started college. My roots are in the West, although I received my journalism degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL (near Evan's hometown!)

I worked as a newspaper reporter for 12 years. I am currently employed as an editor and researcher for an office that appraises large ranches, conservation easements and water rights in Colorado and Wyoming.

I am obsessed with books & music. I also love movies, cooking, traveling and dabbling in photography.

It's always so enviable that US fans have official opportunities to meet skaters. I have never has such an opportunity, however I am glad to read other people's experience about that.

:B Our Bella is 90% furry, purry, cuddy lap cat and 10% crazed killer. I'll be petting or playing with her when she'll suddenly get this gleam in her eyes and launch herself at my feet, trying to get her teeth and claws around my ankle.

I meant to explain my screen name (as my real name is not "Rita"). "Lovely Rita" is a Beatles song from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I'm a Beatles fanatic, and when it came time to choose a cyber identity, it seemed natural to name myself after one of their songs.

My introduction was brief? :lol: I'm not often accused of brevity. What else would you like to know? :-D
