I am SOO happy for Jeff! And Brian and Johnny! And Stephen for making Top 10, and along w/ Johnny, securing 3 spots for the US next year!
I was watching it live, and boy was I heartbroken for Tomas- moving down to 15th overall... actually, other than Jeff, everyone seemed to be landing their jumps really shakily. I was definately surprised Daisuke didn't make the podium..wow..he was doing so well this season!
But overall, what a great competition! Only thing missing was Evan :(

Obviously I'm still reeeeeally sad that Evan wasn't able to compete, but YAY for Jeff! :-D And congrats to Brian & Johnny too, of course. I know they both have worked very hard this year-- it's great that that paid off for them. :)

I'm also very impressed with how the American men performed-- that's great that the US gets 3 spots next year! It seemed that people were thinking it wouldn't be possible. And isn't this the first time for Jeremy & Stephen at Worlds?

It was an unexpected development. I was relaxed while watching this competition at first, but became tensed a little when skaters of last group skated, especially Jeff. He was very brilliant. Many of them couldn't show their abilities enough. It's a pity. Some skaters of lower standings did very well. It was fun to watch that.
Congratulations to all medalists.
Besides USA, Canada and Japan also got three spots for next year. There are many nice skaters in these countries. I'm glad for this.
I wonder how the result was, if Evan was there. I missed him. And also I missed Alban and his coach. I thought about Gosia. I am very sorry for them.

Was there any update on Evan during the men's SP broadcast in the US on Saturday?

No update on his progress - just a brief mention of the reason he wasn't there. We still don't know anything more. The not knowing is awful, isn't it?

if Evan was there. I missed him.

I very much doubt he was there as it wouldn't have been good for his recovery. Missing him is right. His absence was felt.

Congrats to all the medalists, glad that Team USA kept 3 spots in men's field.

Mary you misread Casa's note, she meant that she wondered if Evan participated the competition, where he would end up with. I know there's no IFs, but, with all his last 3 international competitions scored consistently at around 230 (229.36, 229.78, 233.11), he should have a very nice shot at world medal.

I miss him too, and hope him a speedy recovery and a strong return. Can't wait to see a refreshed Evan with a kick-ass new season.

By the way, according to ISU's rule, top 12 finishers at worlds will be guaranteed 2 GP assignments, ISU ranking top 24 - 1 GP assignment. Will Evan's absence at Worlds cost him 1 GP assignment for next season? Hope not. How about Oda and Plushenko? How many GP assignments will they get?

The next season will be much more exciting.

You're right - I did misread it. Thanks for clarifying. I believe with my whole heart he'd've had a good shot at it had he been there. His season's scores were some of the highest posted by any of the competitors.

Good grief - I hope Evan's world ranking (currently 5th w/ISU) would give him two spots on the GP series. Hope someone can clear this up soon. That's another worry I don't need.

I don't know why they only briefly mentioned Evan's injury, as if it was no big deal..does anybody have any details?? I read somethign that it had to do with his blades but that was it.

I thought Joubert's performance was absolutely amazing, though I was angry at them deducting points for the vocals in the short that they said nothing about previously! In my opinion, if it weren't for that and the high component scores they gave to Butle, he would've rightfully taken the gold.

(I wasn't this bitter about the ladies though, Mao Asada's fall and then how she amazingly rose to give this elegant, superb performance and was properly rewarded for it had me in tears, finally felt the judges got something right!)
