Title: Pot luck ideas
Description: Help needed

Megi - July 24, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
My department at work is having a pot luck breakfast this Friday.

Having no imagination when it comes to food I have no idea what I should bring.

Does anybody have any experiences in this matter and is willing to share some ideas?

What is a pot luck? My mom did it once long ago, but I can't remember what it is :(

Basically it's a meal, breakfast in my case, and everybody involved/invited brings/prepares something to eat. Since I don't normally eat breakfast at all, I have no idea what to bring.

You can't go wrong with a fruit tray! Or I have a recipe for a great hash-brown casserole (w/ cheese) if you want it.

Mmm, sounds good! I'd be grateful for the recipe!

I have a recipe for a great banana bread. And the fruit tray idea is really good too.

All recipes will be more than appreciated.

Megi! not sure how much cooking you're looking to do, but I'm sure I could find some good muffin recipes if you'd like :) mostly I'm a big fan of pancakes for breakfast, but that probably wouldn't work too well for a potluck...

I seriosly suck with cooking ideas, but I would go with Bnana's idea of the fruit tray ;)

I'm not looking to do too much cooking since I totally suck at that but my cousin is currently visiting from Europe and she enjoys preparing meals so I would probably get some help.

And I love pancakes!

muffins are always good, and they are easy to make.

I saw the topic and immediately thought "muffins!" :) I've got several good recipes if you want them. The trick with muffins is not to stir the batter too long.

Just out of curiosity, what did you end up bringing, Megi? I think everyone's ideas were great.

Oh and Ann, I'd like the hash brown casserole recipe, if you don't mind... sounds yummy!

After all, I decided to play it safe (a.k.a. lazy ;)) and brought (read: bought) some croissants.

But overall, the pot luck was great! The food was fantastic and we had great time.

Haha... sounds like something I would do! But croissants are a good idea, too ;) Plus, having a good time was the main objective anyway, right? I'm glad you had fun!

Danielle, I'll try to look for the recipe today... you're going to love it!! :P
