These shows from Korea -- the Hyundai Card shows and now ATS -- are awesome for Evan pic/vid hoarders like myself! :B Lots of stuff today from the rehearsals & press conf. Check out the FS Multimedia and Picture sections. :)

IIRC, he did this to "Man in the Mirror" as well. :)

Here is an interview from Korea but the online translations are dreadful! :(

For some reason, Yahoo! Babelfish refused to translate it -- said the page was suspicious.

Right before the Roxanne pic, there is a question about when Evan will compete again. He says something like "i don't know yet - the Grand Prix assignments have not been received yet - difficult to say." Or, that could be my glass-half-full interpretation of what he said. It could be something more noncommittal...

Anybody out there can offer a better translation?

elover - May 9, 2012 12:57 PM (GMT)
That's the way I interpret it too, nightowl. I think he's saying he doesn't know when he'll compete because the assignments have not been given yet.

That's my take too. The assignments haven't been announced yet, so he literally doesn't know where he'll be competing.

I think his name on the list is proof he'll be assigned at least one. As OGM I'm sure it'll be more than one even tho' he's missed the last two competitive seasons.

Melinda4Bama - May 9, 2012 05:50 PM (GMT)
We should know soon. The GP assignments will be announced 5/21. Since Evan did not compete last season, he is now unranked. Since Evan has no ISU ranking, there are two ways he can qualify for the GP:

1. Under the ISU provision for 'comeback' skater. Evan meets the criteria of a comeback skater b/c of his prior placement at Worlds. Under this provision, Evan would qualify for 2 GP assignments. The catch is that a skater can use the comeback provision one time. Some argue that Evan used it last season to get 2 GP assignments (SA & TEB) and thus, is precluded from using the provision again to qualify for 2 GP assignments. The counter argument is that he did not use the comeback provision last year b/c Evan's ISU ranking last year would have guaranteed him one GP assignment (TEB) in addition to the USFSA 'host pick' (SA). If the ISU concludes that Evan used the comeback skater provision last season, then he will not get 2GP assignments in 2012-13. (in one article re: the GP announcement last season, Evan was referred to as a comeback skater; however, it is unclear if that was the official ISU position)

2. If Evan cannot use the comeback skater provision, USFSA can select him as a 'host pick' for Skate America.
