Description: (Evan not listed)
Melinda4Bama - October 18, 2011 12:43 AM (GMT)
Evan is not currently listed as a cast member for the SOI Lake Placid show that is scheduled for 12/30/2011. Tickets go on sale 11/5/2011.

Sonnenschein - October 25, 2011 03:46 AM (GMT)
SOI Japan cast list is out, the same as Lake Placid show, once again, no Evan. I'm afraid we won't see him in SOI anymore, for the obvious reason.
nessats - October 25, 2011 03:56 AM (GMT)
I don't know, I'm inclined to think that until the issue with the USFSA is straightened out, Evan cannot commit to SOI or anything else. Once that is resolved, we'll probably hear about Evan and SOI.
Sonnenschein - October 25, 2011 04:19 AM (GMT)
What I'm worried about is not USFSA, but IMG.

I suppose anything is possible, but I find it hard to believe IMG (as producers of SOI) wouldn't want Evan to appear.
Can you imagine CAA and IMG going head to head to come up with an agreement? The mind boggles.
In any case, time will tell. In the meantime, let's not angst about it. Keep breathing and always remember what Evan has found out.
"What is meant WILL be!" Not all the worrying in the world can change that.
But isn't it totally comforting to know we can come here to sort out our feelings with each other? :wallbash: :help:

I'm concerned about IMG after the comment one of their VPs tweeted to Phil Hersh about Evan and SA. Not professional at all. Let's hope all IMG isn't reacting to Evan like this. Now I need to take some of those deep breaths. :P I'm thankful for my ELFF family.

I agree - very unprofessional and rather childish!!
That said, as with everything there is more than one way to interpret the written word.
It could be taken as a slap at CAA for not doing their job, ( one kid [IMG]sticking his tongue out at another - "HaHa - I could do it better than you can!" )
not a jab at Evan for not doing his - which he HAS been all along - training to get ready. And who, BTW is STILL promoting skating and espcially RISE ( w/out a contract ) by tweeting a notice of it's appearance on Versus last Saturday.
If that's not a show of good faith, I don't know what is. Also as was his not having complained about his name and face being used to promote SA during contract negotiations - I'm sure with the expectation that it would be a non-issue because he expected an agreement to be reached.

I'm still puzzled about any cast having been announced at all. This link now says - "page not found," and I've not seen any list of cast members yet posted anywhere on the Stars on Ice website.
I'm getting a headache from all this :wallbash:
Ellen - October 25, 2011 07:38 PM (GMT)
I gotta laugh at this point. Information/speculation overload! Oiyee vey! :lol2:
No headaches for me - I can't deal with all these head-spinning details, who said what, when, where, how...

The link is not working now. However, the webpage had mentioned the time, date, etc. re: the SOI Lake Placid show and it listed several of the cast members (Kurt, Ryan, etc.,) but Evan was not listed. I was surprised that the page listed some of the cast b/c there has been no official SOI cast announcement.
merrybari - October 26, 2011 01:55 PM (GMT)
Thanks Melinda! That's good to know. I had seen the new date but no cast listed. I do think it's premature to mention some without a more complete disclosure.
#1Evanfan - October 31, 2011 02:09 AM (GMT)
There's still no cast listed in the SOI website, so I still have hope
Heather - October 31, 2011 03:47 AM (GMT)
Since I live within 4 hours of LP, I've already received an email regarding tickets. As Evan would say, that's "bold" considering no cast announcement. The only one I'm sure of is Kurt since he announced it on his own page already. I'm not so sure a road trip on December 30 in the Northeast is a smart idea.
CarleyB - October 31, 2011 07:39 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't expect Evan to be listed as a cast member for the Lake Placid show since this season if he skates with SOI he would only be a guest and not a full cast member because he is full time training for competition. It would be the same as when he competed before. He would only appear after the competition season was over, after Worlds, and sometimes between Nationals and Worlds. So I wouldn't get in a flutter about it. And, yes, IMG and CAA would have to work out contracts if SOI wants him. But that is down the road.
#1Evanfan - November 3, 2011 05:28 PM (GMT)
I would have expected them to announce the other dates by now.....

I sent an e-mail to SOI inquiring about the 2012 tour dates. The email was sent to the address listed on the SOI website, starsonice@imgworld.com. I promptly received an out of office reply which contained info on how to order tickets for the 25th Anniversary tour.
ETA: I received a reply today stating that the tour info would be released in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the update, Melinda. Maybe I'm overly anxious, but I thought they had announced by this time last year.

SOI made the cast announcement earlier last year. In fact, about this time last year the cast was begining to assemble in Lake Placid for rehearsal. On their FB page, a few weeks ago, SOI had responded to a poster that they planned to make the cast announcement by November 1. Now they are saying in a few more weeks.
Thus, it looks like we have a few more weeks to wait on the SOI announcement and until 11/23 to find out if Evan will compete at nationals. The waiting game is so much fun....NOT. :-/

11/23 is my birthday. You all know what I'm praying for!! :skategod:
Maybe SOI is waiting for the same thing. It also occurs to me that SOI has changed its start date from Thanksgiving to New Year's so this could also account for delays in the announcements.
And waiting is so NOT fun!! :help:

Less than three weeks until we know about Evan, at least.
I say that like I won't be checking his twitter constantly until then to see if he has any news for us, LOL! Yeah ... I will be like this for the next three weeks: :thud: :hourglass: :sigh:

I agree, November 23rd is a great day... that was my parents' Anniversary. :)
On a side note, I had sent an email inquiring about the ICE competition schedule. Rob Dustin, co-founder or ICE, replied today stating that the competitions would be in the fall of 2012. It will be interesting to see how they schedule it so that it does not conflict with the ISU Grand Prix.

Great to share that date with so many exciting possibilities.
So happy to hear ICE is going to happen. Will be a trick scheduling around the GP, but apparently they've found a way to do it. Now I guess I need a refresher on the proposed format. It's been a while.
Thanks for following up. :thankyou:

ITA. I'm not a patient person and not good at waiting!
:thankyou: Melinda and Mary for the update re: SOI.
Melinda4Bama - November 9, 2011 06:42 PM (GMT)
I checked the SOI website today. On the information page for the Lake Placid show, they currently list the following skaters: Sasha Cohen, Kurt Browning and Ekaterina Gordeeva.

:thankyou: Melinda. I would think they would be adding skaters and not just do a show with these three. Possibly haven't signed other skaters yet??

I agree that they wil add more skaters. I was just listing the three that are currently confirmed on the SOI website.

Thanks Melinda. Nice to know who is confirmed. Looking forward to later additions.

Peter Murray from the Blazing Blades blog posted a pretty impressive cast list earlier today yet did not cite a source. You can look at his twitter feed for the list. I'm purposely not linking here since it's unofficial but hard to believe Peter wouldn't have some type of "official" source.
Also, keep in mind that those who are competing tend to be later adds to the cast. Meryl and Charlie were added in the Spring this year but never got to skate. So, I wouldn't put too much stock in the Lake Placid cast at this point though I'm sure it will be awesome with or without Evan.

It looks like Peter got that information from the venue website.
The SOI event page on the venue website, Whiteface at Lake Placid, has been updated with the cast. (It appears to be the same cast that was initially included on the venue website and that was later removed)
2011-12 cast includes:
Sasha Cohen
Kurt Browning
Ekaterina Gordeeva
Ilia Kulik
Todd Eldredge
Joannie Rochette
Kyoko Ina & John Zimmerman
Ryan Bradley
Sinead & John Kerr
http://www.whiteface.com/events/soi.phpETA: these skaters are now listed on the Stars on Ice Website:
http://www.starsonice.com/?content=skatersInteresting to note that the web page now says "Stars on Ice" instead of "Smucker's Stars on ICe."
elover - November 10, 2011 08:42 PM (GMT)
:thankyou: Melinda. I hate to admit this, but I'm not familiar with the Kerrs. Also, a bit surprised to learn that Michael Weiss is not on the list.

Melinda4Bama - November 11, 2011 01:06 AM (GMT)
Not related to the Lake Placid show; however, if you do a search on Ticketmaster.com for "stars on ice" they have four of the tour dates listed:
Seattle, WA .... 2/25/2012
Anaheim, CA ..... 3/3/2012
Portland, ME .... 3/16/ 2012
Hershy, PA ..... 3/18/2012
Heather - November 13, 2011 03:13 AM (GMT)
Last year Michael and Joannie were added after the cast announcement. Just added PR I think. Maybe they are doing the same with him and noticeably absent Tanith/Ben?
merrybari - November 13, 2011 03:36 AM (GMT)
IIRC Evan said at 2011 Nationals that negoitiations were ongoing with SOI at that point for the 2011 tour - and that was January. This season with the possibility of his competing, I think there's more involved than last year ie competition schedule would have him as a guest. no competition he could be a "regular." Still a wait and see.

I remember something like that, too. I hope that if nothing else, he's on as a "guest" (though obviously I'm really hoping he'll be able to compete as well.) Right now, I'm just checking the website every couple of days to see if anything has changed and if other people have been added.

See what's new at the
>> SOI WEBSITE HERE <<Only 10 cities listed; apparently no Smucker's to sponsor!
Seems figure skating in the US is in a total state of flux. Short term pain = long term gain!!
That said, still holding positive thoughts for Scott's new ISU competition venture - ICE - come fall of 2012.
Nothing stays the same forever. Good things CAN come from change. Let's hope this is one of those times. :grouphug:
