So, I'm wondering. Would anyone be interested in starting an RPG, maybe on LJ?

I've never done RP before but I've been reading some and it looks like a lot of fun. Would like to try it, but something small - not the huge monstrosities I see over there. Anyone interested?

I've never done online role-playing, so not entirely sure how it works.

I haven't either but I think I've kind of picked it up from reading these RPs. On LJ, the way it seems to work is there's a game community, where posts and replies are in-character. Then an Out-of-character community, where people playing can try to work through plots and stuff.

Example:
Area 42 - game community
Area 42 OOC - OOC community

I like RP. You never what will happen next because so many minds are taking part in it.

So, yes would like to participate.

About the plot, maybe one squadron adventure. A mission for them. (yes, yes, i know very creative. It is a plan developed in five seconds. )

I've never done it on LJ, but I've been doing Stargate SG-1 RPG games online for about 5 plus years.

I suggest main characters... at least at first. Admins hold auditions, etc etc.... then open it up for made up.

As for the Era... Early New Republic is always fun.

As for overall Plot... Rogue Squadron and maybe some cameos/extended adventures with Wraith Squadron.

Well, I figure that those who want to play ought to pick a character they'd like to play. Then we can set up a couple communities on LJ - one for OOC stuff like planning the story and one for the actual game.

Then the players can set up LJ accounts for their characters. Some of the RPs have the characters having actual journals of their own (see here) and others just use the accounts for posting in the game community.

I'd forgo auditions at this point since I get the sense as many of us are new to this as not (my sole experience comes from reading things like area42 and milliways bar ).

Maybe since there are only a few of us, we could play a couple different characters or something. *shrug*

I like the early New Republic mission idea, and mixing it up with Rogues and Wraiths. Who do y'all want to play?

Leia, I think your idea of a character list is a good one, so I'll pull one together in my next post in just a second.

For names, "downtime" is taken. Maybe downtime_rpg or something? Or maybe pilots_lounge? I kinda like that but am totally open to suggestions

And I totally hear you on not having the energy to play Wes. I'd love to but my Wes is way more serious than most people's interpretation, so...

Okay so the list above is suggestive. If there are people I forgot (inevitable since I drafted it in thirty seconds on my BlackBerry) who you'd like to play please say so. And not everyone is required; I just tried to list the people who came to mind who have a tendency of popping up where the Rogues are concerned.

I'm torn between Tycho and Hobbie. I'll probably take one of them and then someone else. I don't know if my wit is sharp enough to play Inyri and I know my sense of humor isn't juvenile enough to play Wes

If we can decide on a name I'll go set up the game and OOC communities over at LJ tomorrow and we can move some of this planning over there where we'll have more space and can have different threads for various things.

I'd say go with the downtime_cantina username and then maybe just call it with Downtime or Downtime Cantina. Pretty simple and all that jazz.

As for characters... I'm torn between Inyri or Pash.

Does anyone have a timeline handy? Which book are they promoted in and what's the timeframe between when the hunt for Zsinj ends and the promotions happen?

The big promotions came in Isard's Revenge, right after the Thrawn Trilogy conclusion. Solo Command end's with the Courtship of Princess Leia, giving us approximately from 7.5 to 9 yrs ABY.
