I know a few:
Luke - Artoo Corran - Whistler Wedge - Mynock, then Gate Kell - Thirteen Gara/Lara/Kirney - Tonin Face - Vape Myn - Shiner, then something I can't recall Phanan - Gadget Tyria - Chunky Gavin - Jawaswag Does anyone know the others' droids? I think Hobbie's should be called "Crash" but that could be my imagination... I'm most specifically looking for Tycho and Janson's... |

Solo Command gives Myn's astromech as Clink
Gavin changes his droid's name to Toughcatch at some point, possibly after the X-wing novels; it might be in one of Stackpole's NJO books. I don't think either Tycho or Janson have named droids. I did name Janson's droid Ace for one fic, which I thought suited his character. |

Not at all; it's good to have consistancy in things like that from one writer to another.
I think I came up with a name for Tycho's astromech in one fic, but can't think of what the droid was called, or what the fic was. |

Thank you much.
Tycho strikes me as being like Wedge and Luke, practical in naming his droid. But that's boring |

Which Astromech Droid In Star Wars - Episiode IV, Is In Porkins' X-Wing Fighter ?
Rebel X-Wing fighter pilot, "Porkins" (also known as 'Red 6') has an astromech droid in his X-Wing fighter. In the movie, it's hard to see which type of droid it is. The top part looks as though it is shaped like the dome of an R5-D4 type droid. It's definitely not a rounded dome like R2-D2 has. I know that there are over 60 different astromech droids in the Star Wars movies and I realize that this could be a tough question to answer, but does anyone know ? |

I just looked at the entry for Porkins on Wookieepedia. That says that an offcial toy release of a Porkins figure had a fact file listing his droid as R5-D8.
This corrolates to what you've seen in the movie - an R-5 unit. However, in the Rogue Squadron 1/2 comic story (set just before Yarvin), Porkins has an R2 unit in his X-wing. So either he changed droids for some reason just before the Battle of Yarvin, or you can admit there's a continuity error in the comic.
