Star Wars
Rogue Academy

The Gallatic Revolution is over. The New Republic and the Imperial Remnant have signed the Bastion Accords, ending a long and bloody rebellion. Peace reigns throughout the Galaxy.

The Heroes of Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron find themselves entering into quiet retirement. Too quiet. Driven from their homes by annoyed spouses and significate others, the idle pilots are desperate to return to their beloved flying machines, the formiable X-Wings. But the expensive machines are owned and cared for by the New Republic, an organization the pilots no longer fly for.

Hearing of the Heroes predicament, the crafty Bothan Admiral in charge of the New Republic's Military Academy strikes a deal: the pilots may have one hour of flight time for every hour of class they teach. Desperate, the Heroes agree and the Bothan is satisfied at the thought of employing such qualified instructors. But the Nawara Ven, Silver Tongue, slips his own crafty clause into the deal: the Heroes may teach any class they wish. A concession that the Bothan Admiral will come to regret...

Your assignment:
*Choose your instructor (any of the Rogues or Wraiths or other pilots intrested in flight time)
*Give your course a name
*Tell where your course is taught
*Tell when and how often your course is taught
*Most importantly: Write a course description that tells students what will be taught in the course, what level of previous knowlege is expected, and entices them to sign up for the course.
*Don't forget to note if the class includes a discussion or lab component [face_wink].gif

Be creative!!!

And remember, instructors can teach more than one course, so post as many as you'd like biggrin.gif

Post your course in this thread so we'll have a full Rogue Academy curiculum.

Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian will be teaching a course on 'Bacta Appreciation'. This 6 week course will be taught at the Starfleet Military Hospital. There will be a one-hour lecture each week, and an afternoon each week on the wards. Students will visit a ryll manufacturer, and learn about ryll and ryll kor, and their place alongside bacta.

On the ward visits, students will have the opportunity to learn of the many ways that bacta is used in modern medicine. They will learn how a bacta bath works - how the patient's bodily needs are met while being suspended in bacta for up to a week - and of other methods of application and when each is appropriate.

Lecture topics include the development of bacta, Vratix society, identification of different bacta grades and The Bacta War, fought to remove Ysanne Isard from her domination of Thyferra

*snicker* no one appreciates bacta more than Hobbie

Wes Janson will offer a course entitled: Ewoks, Scourge of the Empire. This eight-week course will meet weekly at the Military Academy; however, it will include one week-long excursion to the Forest Moon of Endor. This excursion will allow students to interact with Ewoks in their own habitat.

Lecture topics will include the Battle of Endor, the Ewok appreciation of storytelling, religious worship among Ewok clans, Ewok pilots, and galaxy-wide laws regarding Ewok puppet shows and apparel.

The final lecture will feature a guest who will offer students insight into the impact Ewoks have had on his personal life.

Great start you guys!!! Thanks for participating biggrin.gif

Special Topics in Gas Dynamics – High Pressure Physics will be taught by Kell Tainer. This semester long course will cover the behavior of solids under compression, the movement of pressure waves, highly exothermic chemical reactions, and ducking. Each class will be taught entirely in the lab. The semester will culminate in a final project involving the implosion of one of the Military Academy’s own former barracks complexes. Please note that there will be a five credit lab fee for personal protective gear such as googles, earplugs, and flak vests. Students must present proof of medical and life insurance upon enrollment.

General Wedge Antilles will teach a course on Applied Psychology for Commanding Officers. This semester-long course consists of 2 lectures a week, one discussion group a week, and a weekly practical class.

Topics to include:

The role of social activities in unit morale - this course element includes a weekly practical class of dance lessons in a variety of styles. Students to provide suitable shoes.

Being assertive to senior officers without getting demoted - for when you know you're right and they don't want to listen.

Teaching the new dog old tricks - how to deal with the know-it-all hotshot who thinks they're better than you.

Writing those letters - techniques for coping with the necessity of writing letters of condolence, and on expressing yourself in what you wite.

Coping with your junior officers - the routine datawork that will keep them too busy to get into mischief, and ease your own workload. Finding the balance - giving them enough responsibilty while staying in control.

The well-staged mutiny - managing stress throughout your command group

Hit them where it hurts - imaginative and suitable punishments for miscreants. This subject includes a guest lecture from Major Wes Janson, who is very familiar with this topic. There will be a holohowing of a classic example of this kind of punishment, featuring Major Janson aboard the Mon Remonda, during the war against Zsinj.

Darn - I meant to include that and forgot. Though while a useful thing for commanding officers, it doesn't really come under the Applied Psychology heading.
