It's been a while since I've written any SW fic, as I've been contrentrating on writing the western novels. However, I promised myself that when I'd finished The Judas Metal, which was accepted at Xmas, I'd get around to writing a Star Wars fic that's been lurking in my mind for a while.

I've now made a start on it. I usually write the whole story before I post, but as this may be a long one, and I'm away next week, I thought I'd start posting it now. So yo've got something to look at and read, as the other ongoing stories on Downtime seem to have ground to a halt.

Read, enjoy and comment. And 'Nut, if you have any brilliant ideas about what's happening, please put them under a spoiler cut. You were too clever by half in your comments on '770' [face_shameonyou].gif

As one of the guilty party whose fic has ground to a halt, I apologize. And I ought to be posting what I've written but I'm not in a Star Wars mindset right now and anything I write would be subpar because the characters aren't talking to me *mutters*

My net connection is currently patchy to say the least and may not be sorted properly until after the weekend. The upside is that without the distraction of the interwebs, I've got a good chunk of writing done.

I'll try posting something now, but the connection could go tits up any moment. So there may or may not be updates in the next few days, but when I can post, I've got something ready for you.

Having got to a certain point in the story I took a break to start writing a short story for a western anthology. That's taking longer than expected, so I'm doing some more on the Echo Project. I'll alternate randomly between the two, but you will have more to read before too long.

Er, Demon. Not sure if you made a typo, but the phrase is 'on tenterhooks'

From my dictionary:

Tenterhook: 1) one of a series of hooks used to hold cloth on a tenter. 2)
On Tenterhooks in a state of tension or suspense.

Tenter: A frame on which cloth is stretched out in order that it may retain its shape while drying.

I didn't actually know the source of the saying until I looked it up yesterday, to check I was correct in my correction.

Sorry about the delay. First I got the page proofs of 'Silver Express' to check (finished today) but then my publisher sent out the proof-read ms of 'The Judas Metal' for me to correct too.
So, busy with actual books that will be published, and have less time for fanfic. Though on the bright side, 'Silver Express' is kind of fanfic, as that's the western with the fab four as sheriff and deputies. To be released in September.

Anyway, still got real-life writing work to do, but The Echo Project isn't dead. It's just a bit squashed under other stuff.
