Hobbie's section at the beginning is the only pilot PoV in the book. Wedge, Tycho, Wes, Hobbie and Rogue Squadron are in other scenes as the plot demands, but they aren't prime characters. WTWH are the only Rogues with speaking parts. Page time is about equivalent to Shadows of the Empire; several combat scenes and a few hanger scenes with the prime cast.

Hobbie is pretty awesome, isn't he? wub.gif

hmm, I guess a new book would be nice to read. Especially set before the whole Vong-mess. [face_grin].gif

It arrived already - though there's no sign of the separately shipped DVD that was sent a little earlier.

Partway through chapter 1

Finished reading book last night (DVD - see above - arrived this morning)

I really enjoyed this, though as it's set over a relatively short space of time, I couldn't help thinking that the Rogues must have been exhausted by the end, as they seemed to have been in their fighters, doing some very demanding combat and flying, for hours on end.

That aside it was good to read a book that was a stand-alone, and set back in the early days. Luke is getting to grips with being the only Jedi, and the future of the Jedi, which is something that hasn't really been covered before. C-3PO and R2-D2 get decent stuff to do, which hasn't happened in a while. Nice to see Lando again, and in military mode, too. And good to have Chewbacca around again.

It's nice to hear good things about the book. This is the first SW book I have been looking forward to in years. Sadly, FedEx doesn't care about delivering because they claim they left a notice nearly two hours ago. There's no notice on my door. [face_frustrated].gif

Sounds like the kind of service I sometimes get from the Royal Mail. The number of times I checked the post to find a 'Sorry You Were Out' notice when I've been in all the time. Even more annoying is that the post often doesn't come until after 12:00pm, which is when the local parcel office closes, so you have to wait a day to call them, and your parcel won't be redelivered until the day after that.

I finally got my copy of the book today. I have a feeling that FedEx never even tried to deliver it, that they just immediately sent it to the post office for me to have to pick up.

The first chapter is a riot. It's such a nice change from the monstrosities that have been written these past several years. It'd be really nice if Stover wrote more.
