Anyone read it?

I really don't like Matt Stover... and apparently he didn't get the memo that Hobbie's still in one piece.

I think the problem is that after Empire came out, a memo went around saying that Hobbie wasn't in one piece. Still, ignoring the spare parts, I really enjoyed Hobbie's little POV. The bickering was awesome.

I read Shadows a while ago. I liked it. It wasn't OMG TEH BEST SW BOOK EVA!!! but it was a really, really, really nice break from LotF. I wouldn't mind a few more like it.

I enjoyed it too, though haven't read it in a while. I certainly will read it again though. It's nice to have a stand alone novel again, not one that part of some epic, galaxy-spanning series,

I found the story very odd... and I didn't really feel like the characters were on. It was nice to get Hobbie's POV, which I don't feel we saw enough... y'know, ever. But... I can't put my finger on what it was, exactly. Maybe I've spent too much time in fandom and have too defined views of the characters, but I really struggled.

It was nice to see Wedge and Tycho blow off Lando's orders to save Luke, though. It felt like something they would do, even though the characterization throughout rubbed me the wrong way.

And I liked the exposure to Lando.
