I'm curious about your writing process, do you craft out the entire story before hand, or write whatever comes into your mind that will make the story progress?

Personally, I'm closer to the latter, I usually get an overall idea for a concept of a story, and plan the beginning and end in my head, then write the rest as I go. I usually have some lines that I feel I have to get in the story, so I try writing something that'll work out, sometimes with worse results, sometimes succesfully.

For me it generally depends of the length of the story. I rarely plot out a short story, although I usually have a clear idea of what it's about before I start writing.

For long pieces, like The Echo Project, I do write notes. I will make notes on people and places, so I can keep track of things. Not every scene will be roughed out but for some I'll make notes on what information I need to include if there's a lot of exposition I need to get across. I may also make notes if there's more than one storyline, just to help me keep things straight.
