They've been anouncing new books and there are are few that hold some pilot possiblities:
Star Wars: Rebel Force: Firefight 4th book in a kids series. Deadly assassin X-7 has never failed to complete a mission -- until now. Unmasked and unarmed, he narrowly escapes from the Rebels with his life and little else. His cover may be blown, but he's not returning to Commander Rezi Soresh until his target has been eliminated. This time, he has a new plan. He'll gather six of the best pilots in the galaxy -- all of them roguish mercenaries who care only about money -- and turn them loose on Red Squadron. He counts on his pilots' mercenary instincts to keep them in line. But one of them has a secret that could cost X-7 his victory. And Holostar A 'rags to riches' novel set during the early Rebellion. Could this be a Starflare novel? Will this be the triumphant return of young Wedge to the written page? (Probably a new, never seen before character, but I can hope.) |

I would love for this to be the case. There would be plenty to work with in terms of her story (There's also quite a bit we don't know about young Wedge). Regardless of who it is, this is something a bit different. Which is a good thing in my book. |

It sounds like it ought to be a Starflare novel, unless it's Face. Though he was a child star, and oblivious to the politics of what he was doing, so that's unlikely.
If it is Syal (and I really hope so too), I guess they'll be playing on her relationship with Fel. That's what ties her life into the war - a straightforward holostar rags-to-riches story isn't really Star Wars. But if they have the developing relationship with Fel alongside the discovery that her little brother is still alive - and that he flew against the Death Star - that would work for a Star Wars novel. Ooooo - I'd love to read that. Perhaps as the parents of the new Emperor, Fel and Syal are now sufficiently well-known to have a book of their own. |

I would love to see a series on what the young Wedge did between the time his parents died to when he joined the Rebellion. Surely he had many adventures during that time trying to be a legit businessman and as a smuggler. This type of series would help to explain how the young Wedge grew into the Wedge we all know and love. I would buy it even if it is written to a younger audience.
"Holostar" if it is about Syal would have to have something about Wedge; he is her brother, after all! |

Oh, I would love to read such a book, Demon. I always was wondering how his transition from smuggler to rebel had worked out. How he had been back at these days. He always striked me as a pretty quiet but clever kid.
Actually I find the idea of telling more of Syal's site quite interesting. Of course I would be most interested in her perspective on Wedge. ![]() PS: If the language seems to be messed, please be kind. it's late and today my language areas are currently out of order. |
