a native of Taanab, Wes Janson joined the Alliance at Tierfon, and quickly showed his abilities as a pilot and sharpshooter. He gained True Gunner status while serving at Tierfon as an X-wing pilot in the Yellow Aces. It was while of Tierfon that Janson and Jek Porkins were forced to shoot down the rogue pilot Kiseek Doran. He came down with a strain of Hesken Fever just before the Battle of Yavin, and was unable to fly his X-Wing. Jek Porkins drew the duty of filling in for him, and the importance of this occurance - and Porkins' subsequent death over the first Death Star - haunted Janson ever after. He managed to recover, and eventually became a member of Rogue Squadron, serving under Luke Skywalker at the Alliance's Echo Base on Hoth. He served as Wedge Antilles' gunner in the Battle of Hoth, and was known by the callsign of Rogue Five. When their snowspeeder crashed during the battle, both Wes and Wedge were forced to seek refuge in the gutted hull of a downed pirate freighter. The story of their survival and eventual rescue became the stuff of legends among the fighter pilots of the Alliance, and rumors of Wes' death on Hoth abounded. Wedge often explained to new recruits that Wes actually died on Hoth, only to see their reactions when he suddenly appeared to teach them their next lesson. Note that Marvel Comics' Star Wars issue 78 indicates that Wes was killed by a band of cutthroat scavengers who arrived on Hoth to clean up after the Battle of Hoth. In the years which followed, Janson remained a fixture of Rogue Squadron, serving as the team's comic relief with Hobbie Klivian. He was reported dead when the Rogues were ambushed at Distna, while searching for evidence of Pulsar Station, but he was rescued by Booster Terrik and the Errant Venture and returned to Coruscant. After recovering from his injuries, Wes rejoined the squadron during the hunt for Prince-Admiral Krennel. Like most of the veterans of Rogue Squadron, Janson retired shortly after the negotiation of peace between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. However, his retirement did not last for long. With the arrival of the Yuuzhan Vong in the galaxy, Wes renewed his commission as Captain and took command of the Taanab Yellow Aces Squadron. The all-volunteer squadron participated in several missions after the Battle of Ebaq, including the rescue of Pash Cracken and Judder Page from Selvaris. Janson was portrayed by Ian Liston in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Hm... spacing would probably help on these. So Wes "Died" several times, if I'm reading this correctly. Well, I'm glad the writers of the books somehow missed the part where he died. This would have been much more helpful to read BEFORE I wrote my last little fic.

Do you think that they named the Tanaab force the Yellow Aces by being confused about Tierfon?

The Tanaab Yellow Aces were named by Janson as a tribute to his first squadron, I believe. Tierfon is where Janson was training as a pilot, and where he shot down Kissek Doran. The Tanaab Aces were Tanaabian pilots during the war against the Vong.


Question: Anyone else think that Wes would be likely to be very nervous around a woman he really liked? I can see that cocky exterior slipping away in that situation

Nervous? You bet!

He's also likely to be more serious than normal... he's smart enough to know that if he wants her to take him seriously, he needs to drop the pranks long enough to tell her how much he cares.

I think that when I do write him as cocky around a girl that it's really a cover for beign insecure on the inside. Like when he says/does stupid things. My boyfriend is cute like that. He didn't used to know how to act around me or even how to ask me out. Wes would probably not get close to girls and just flirt with them because he wouldn't want them to get hurt or to get hurt himself.

Oh I think he's definitely the kind to get nervous, and act a lot a love struck teenager.

Anybody else think that Wes would make a great dad? I can see him growing up, and being very protective of a little girl.

I see Wes playing with his kids, and being a great father, but I also think that he would be willing to kill any guy who made a move on his daughter.

Wes as a dad...Sithspawn! It'd be like having one overgrown kid and the rest of the kids. I can just picture Daddy helping Junior play practical jokes on Mommy. The poor girl he marries...

I don't know. I can see Wes being mature to please a girl he really likes, or when said girl is in danger. *cough* Shades *cough*

I think he could be serious but I think the jokes would eventually creep in.

What's she like?

Selina's a lot like Wes. (Yes, the same name as the one I use online) She's acts confident even when she's not, or at least tries to. She has a sarcastic sense of humor, adores ewoks and tolerates Wes bringing stuffed toys to bed.

He usually uses bad pick up lines on her, which she loves.

I haven't finished the fic where they first met. They were friends before they became a couple. I haven't written much about them lately since I've had Downtime in Las Vegas muses and my new evil muse which WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE!

She sounds interesting. I have a Wes plot bunny eating at my mind, but I can't quite get a few very important things strait.

What's the idea?

Wes and Inyri have a daughter who's born right before Union. She doesn't know who her father is, and the fic is about how she meets him. It's kinda AU.

What I can't figure out is an event that would make Wes leave his wife and daughter and go to Taanab. It's key that he and Inyri still live each other.
