It's very quiet here, so speak up. Tell us all something about your Xmas.
I've been staying with my parents, in the bungalow they bought early in the year - so it's my first visit here. A couple of days before Xmas I went into Norwich and met up with a school friend I haven't seen in 20 years. We had a nice time wandering around the shops together, and I got beads and fixings to make half a dozen earrings.
Xmas eve I went into the middle of Wymondham, the market town where my parents live. I visited my favourite bookshop and came away with 3 books, including Christopher Lee's autobiography, which is my current read and very interesting. As the entire Woolworths chain is closing down, I went into the local store and found a 2 kilo box of mints for the pic and mix. Buying loose at the usual price per 100g, the whole box would cost about £12, but the unopened box cost me £3.70. I've put some in a bowl for the family to share, but I still have over 1.5K of mints to lug home in my suitcase.
We spent Xmas day with my brother, Chris, his wife, Sharon, and their son, AyJy. A very nice dinner of roast lamb and loads to eat later. We spent most of the afternoon and evening in front of the telly, watching Wallace and Gromit - both the film and a new short, and the new Dr Who Xmas special, which was rather good. I asked Mum and Dad for money towards buying a Freewivew+ digibox, with recordable harddrive, and Dad said he'd pay the whole amount. so I ordered one online last night and it should be delivered sometime early next week. I bought Dad some books about the town he grew up in, with lots of old photos, and have been learning more about the family history.
Home by train tomorrow. According to the website, the track repairs over half the stretch I'll be travelling on should have been done this morning. I think I'll check tomorrow, before setting off for the station.
So what have you been doing ?
I had a wonderful, stress-free quiet christmas with Mr. RB. It was delightful. I made a huge dinner (yummmmmmm, fava bean soup!) and we generally just chilled out in pajamas all day. And Mr. RB got me seats on the glass for the Capitals-Flyers game in February!
It was interesting. I love my family but sometimes they just drive me insane.
