No one likes Corran?

Valin_Halcyon - March 4, 2005 02:50 AM (GMT)
I do! He's my favorite EU character.

Jesina Dreis - March 4, 2005 07:55 AM (GMT)
Never could have guessed, you two... ;)

Mirax_Corran - March 5, 2005 12:41 AM (GMT)
Corran is a good character. Please add a bio.

Jesina Dreis - March 5, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
I will, Mirax, when the CUSWE stays up and I have the time

Selina - March 20, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
I just finished rereading Corran Horn.

Anyone ever notice Corran's harder to kill that Willie Coyote?

Jesina Dreis - March 20, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
Oh, yeah... how many times has he died now?

Um, not counting my stories, I mean...

Selina - March 20, 2005 06:55 AM (GMT)
I was counting all his wonderous escapes in just the first novel. LOL

Jesina Dreis - March 20, 2005 09:24 AM (GMT)
Oh, god yes... and the actor pretending to be Fel called Wedge luck incarnate? :raisedbrow:

Mirax_Corran - March 20, 2005 03:03 PM (GMT)
Corran is luck incarnate, and he's "died" at least 3 times-for actually being presumed dead. He's almost died a lot more than that.

Jesina Dreis - March 20, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Yeah...

"We dress well for dead men"

Mirax_Corran - March 20, 2005 04:15 PM (GMT)
O'course.

Jesina Dreis - March 20, 2005 04:27 PM (GMT)
Do you remember who said that? And to whom they were speaking?

Mirax_Corran - March 20, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
It was Wes to Corran at the end of Isard's Revenge.

Selina - March 20, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
I think that luck incarnate thing is why I keep seeing Corran as one of the EU biggest Mary Sues...That and the fact that 90% of Stackpoles characters look like Corran.

Jesina Dreis - March 21, 2005 04:02 AM (GMT)
I used to see Corran as a Mary Sue... then I learned more about him. My general response to people who see him that way is that they simply don't understand him...

Mirax_Corran - March 21, 2005 09:57 PM (GMT)
That's what I think, too. The first Corran book that I read was I, Jedi, so I didn't meet the stuck-up, I'm-better-than-you-one until later.

Jesina Dreis - March 21, 2005 10:28 PM (GMT)
 that's a good way to describe the early Corran...

Mirax_Corran - March 21, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I re-read RS a few weeks ago, and I spent the first 100 pages thinking "OMG!!! What a jerk!!"

Selina - March 22, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
I like Corran more now that I've read I, Jedi. It gaev me a better impresson of him this time around on RS, but I still think he's a Mary Sue. I've read a few other books by Stackpole (his fantasies) and most of his characters are dark haired, green eyed, fixated with the color green. They have some special power that makes them wonderful.

I know Corran evolves, but it's hard to pull away from the Mary Sue label sometimes. But then I think Luke has turned into a HUGE Mary Sue character so...

Mirax_Corran - March 22, 2005 02:28 AM (GMT)
I think that Luke has those tendencies, but the NJO authors handled it well.
