Title: Best Star Wars Villian

Blastback - November 8, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
So who is the all time greatest Star Wars Villian?

Valin_Halcyon - November 8, 2005 04:29 AM (GMT)
teh palpz!11!!11!!

Durell - November 8, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
Darth Vader. When i first saw Star Wars I was scared of him!

talkingbanana - November 8, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
After ROTS, though, I can't help but see Darth Vader as a tragic hero instead of a villain. :/

My personal favorite is Warlord Zsinj, actually. What a great bad guy - competent (gasp!), three-dimensional, funny.

Blastback - November 8, 2005 10:05 PM (GMT)
To me, Vader is still the ultimate villian in Star Wars. He's menacing, powerful, dark, and myterious, albiet less so than he used to be. I can understand how he's seen as a Tragic Hero, but he is still evil, even though he never meant to be. The voice, the breathing, the very aperance all create one of the most powerful and sinister characters of all time.

Sorry I didn't put an other catagory.

Kaija - November 8, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
*wanders back to thread* I said Iceheart.... Palpatine to me was too one dimensional. And Vader really became a tragic figure instead of a true villain. I haven't read Thrawn yet, so that left me with Iceheart, who does have villain qualities.

LaneWinree - November 8, 2005 10:27 PM (GMT)
I have to say Thrawn. Its really hard to come up with a villain that you occasionally want to root for. I suppose what got my attention was that Thrawn was sort of the 'Anti-villian.' He didn't come across as pure, unadulterated evil. He was cultured, and had a brilliant mind.

Call me crazy, but I liked Thrawn more than Palpatine and Vader as a villian.

Jesina Dreis - November 8, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
You should be able to edit the poll and add another choice... I think.

Blastback - November 8, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
Can't edit the poll, just my first post. :headwall: :headwall:

Jesina Dreis - November 9, 2005 01:43 AM (GMT)
Did you go all the way up to the top, right under the "New Topic" icon, etc.? Not picking on you, just asking, b/c it might just be an admin/mod ability.

Anyway, I added it for you :)

Inyri - November 9, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
I voted for Thrawn, because he was the smartest villain and hence the most dangerous.

As for Vader, when I first watched RotJ, I couldn't classify him as a villain any longer. The whole scene with him and Luke when he dies...yeah, it made me cry.

Selina - November 9, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
I voted Vader because I'm doing my best to forget the evil known as the prequels.

Valin_Halcyon - November 9, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
QUOTE (Kaija @ Nov 8 2005, 02:15 PM)
Palpatine to me was too one dimensional.

How is palpz one-dimesnional? He was the most manipulative sith lord this side of kreia. He was also fleshed out pretty well in the PT.

Killik_Twilight - November 9, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Thrawn, because I like strategy games, and Thrawn was a genius at strategy.

End of line.

KT

Jesina Dreis - November 9, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
I said Palpatine. Watching him manipulate the Senate through the PT...

Valin_Halcyon - November 9, 2005 03:21 AM (GMT)
 He used JAR-JAR to give him control of the repulic. That's insane.

CodeName_Targeter - November 9, 2005 03:47 AM (GMT)
I voted Vader because he's simply THE villian of all times.

And then I used my sock to vote for Maul because he's just plain cool. :p

Blastback - November 9, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
We can use socks to vote?

*Goes to create a sock*

CodeName_Targeter - November 9, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
LoLoL. That was just the sock I use for messing around with tech stuff sometimes. :p But I couldn't decide between the two.

Spee - November 9, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
I voted Thrawn. He rocks.

Mirax_Corran - November 12, 2005 02:31 AM (GMT)
Actually, tried it on a whim, the poll lets you pick as much as you want. So I voted for Thrawn (b/c he's TEH KEWLNESS) and Iceheart (just because she's so evil that you gotta love her. I mean, a CLONE?).

Valin_Halcyon - November 12, 2005 02:44 AM (GMT)

See: Emperor Palpatine. :p

Jesina Dreis - November 12, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
Point, Val.

And I think we need to do a poll-making tutorial (Myri STILL doesn't know how to make one that allows only one choice :p)

Mirax_Corran - November 12, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
I know how ... I think. :p

And Valin, Iceheart was the only really good female villain. I'm a hopeless feminist. :p

JediKenobi - February 6, 2006 04:18 AM (GMT)
Darth Vader.

Captain-Kettch - February 19, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
Pre-ROTS Vader, as in before it was made. He was this kinda mysterious guy, you didn't know how he got to be what he was, or why. He was just a mask and a sweet lightsaber. Scary.

frustratedstudent - July 7, 2006 02:08 PM (GMT)
I find Thrawn the creepiest of all...with C'Baoth just in the picture, he had me running for cover!

Corellia's Dream - July 7, 2006 11:02 PM (GMT)
Thrawn, because he was smart, a tactical genius (which I particularly admire) and he didn't overestimate his own skill or descend into madness. He also had the best last line in Star Wars.

RedBirdie - July 7, 2006 11:47 PM (GMT)
Vader is a great movie villian-but Thrawn is a much better book villian. so hard to decide.

Valin_Halcyon - July 8, 2006 12:27 AM (GMT)
Palpatine. Pure. Evil. Plus, him using lightning on Luke scared me more than anything Vader ever did...

Spee - July 8, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
I think Birdie hit it right on the head. Vader for the movies, Thrawn for the books.

Bran_Stark - October 6, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
Isard is Insane.

Wes Janson - October 7, 2006 08:10 AM (GMT)
Id like to discuss my impression of the poll results before commenting.

NOTE: Im looking at it from the perspective of the WHOLE storyline from E1 chronologicly thru E6

Darth Vader [ 12 ] [42.86%]
See Anikan Skywalker
Count Dooku [ 0 ] [0.00%]
he's basicly a 'poor little rich kid' type that went dark. Magneto's line in X3 about the pawns going first comes to mind......
The Emperor [ 3 ] [10.71%]
THE BEST villan in the saga. PERIOD. He orchistrates the fall of the Jedi, the turning of Anikan. He IS the embodiement of evil.
Darth Maul [ 1 ] [3.57%]
A two bit apprentence that is beside himself (literly)
Jango Fett [ 0 ] [0.00%]
See Boba
Boba Fett [ 0 ] [0.00%]
The Fett's are more mercanary than villan, and based off of Boba in the EU is more of a semi good guy, as he has a sense of honor and follows it.
Thrawn [ 8 ] [28.57%]
More of an antagonist than Villan. He doesnt go for wanton cruelty or slaughter, unless nessacary to win.
Iceheart [ 3 ] [10.71%]
While she trys to be evil like her dead lover, in reality, Iceheart is a third rate despot, as she lacked the ability to grasp every aspect of a conflict like Palps did (well enough at least)
Nute Gunray [ 0 ] [0.00%]
hes a puppet, doesnt even rate anything. Hes basuicly a buisnessman that tries to turn warlord
Anakin Skywalker [ 0 ] [0.00%]
Despite every evil act he commited..... Anikan is in actuality good, as he was redemed, while he DID present the SECOND best villan of the Saga as his Vader persona, he was still a pawn keeping him out of first.
Darth Malak [ 0 ] [0.00%]
Never played KOTOR (played KOTOR2, and loved it. Malak was easy to kill in the flashback scene)
Joruus C'baoth [ 0 ] [0.00%]
The clone, or the real Joruus ? The clone was more insane that evil.
Jar Jar [ 1 ] [3.57%]
Yup Evil.
Borsk [ 0 ] [0.00%]
More a crooked politican. Deserves killing in fanfic whenever possible tho.
Other [ 0 ] [0.00%]
COWBELL

That review done, I say Palps gets first place. Why?

POWEEEAAHHHHHH! ABSOLUUUUUUUTE POWWWEEEAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Love that scene.

Maxwell03 - December 16, 2011 05:51 AM (GMT)
Darth Sidious, AKA: Senator Palpatine was a shadow that controlled Darth Maul. the double-bladed-wielding, tattoo-ed bad-*** that took out one of my favorite characters, and could take on Anakin Skywalker (darth vader) any day of the week. Vader was just big in his future. Hard to be good with a lightsaber when you're in a robot-suit when a Zabrak whose been tortured to insanity puts you on his Sh*t-list of people who must die.
